Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Today is brought to you by defrosted freezers ruining everything, and super leaky washing machines. FML.

Sandycarrots · 17/10/2017 12:04

Hello all! Chaos here!

[SC flies in to thread on broomstick; crash lands and starts boiling water and tearing up sheets ...]

Just diving in to say "OOooohhhhh and eeeeehhhhhhhhhh" to Cag! Wishing you strength and as much serenity as possible in the circs!! We are all behind you! Flowers One day, one hour, one minute at a time as they say! Flowers

Longtime/Foxes sorry - dashing - but good info on stain removal:
here.

Might be an idea to try softening it with glycerine Foxes??

No idea if this works but advice on how to remove ink from sofa Longtime : here!

^^Both hesitant suggestions because I don't want your sofas to come out looking worse!

Sorry about ongoing colds Zoo (hope gp can find some underlying cause) and congrats on superb list as ever!

Cotswold wishing those in your immediate circle who are ill and /or hospitalised, a full and speedy recovery!

Humungous wing flaps to Hills Toostressy Honu Goldenclaire Afreshstart and everyone else I have missed!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/10/2017 12:23

Hello all. Sorry to hear of lots of ill people SC. foxes, this may not be the case but any chance they could be dribble stains if any of you sleep on the sofa???!!!! We have some from the cat and DDs falling asleep on there at various times with mouths open Grin.

For animal stains we had a spray from Pets at Home which had some success but tbh I don't think anything really works Sad.

Sorry to hear about freezer disaster Cag

Ta da:-
Morning routine
Big chunk of preschool paperwork done

To do
Clean a bit of fridge. Hadn't meant to do this but it was practically empty before shopping this morning so really should take the chance to clean it.
Lunch

Have to go early to school pick up so not expecting to get much more done but preschool paperwork was the priority so am happy to have done a chunk of that :)

Big wing flaps to all

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/10/2017 12:24

Oops, had meant to say sorry about the ill people to you Cotswold, not SC.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/10/2017 12:55

Two loads laundry done
Nap with lil zoo-check
Lunch
We are now curled up with matilda dvd and my lil pony blankie......

cag oh shoot.hope its fixable.at zoo house evrything seems pack up at once.buouple years ago ended up buy oven.wm and fridgefreezer within a month...only saving grace was end dec/beg january but still meant fair few very lean months..

Cagliostro · 17/10/2017 13:32

Yup we have been replacing stuff here recently too! New bed arriving tomorrow (although had managed with mattress on floor for several months) we were going to be getting a new WM anyway and a fridge at some point, got a new vacuum cleaner (thank goodness for damaged box sales) and what with the baby purchases and costs of furniture clearance etc it's been a rather pricey time!

On way to see midwife for what I guess will be the final time!

Sandycarrots · 17/10/2017 13:36

Meant to say, like Foxes I am also feeling a bit defeated by house atm. Everywhere is a mess and I have zero energy (although was prodded and poked about by a gynaecologist and a bowel surgeon this morning for approx two hrs - have to have op next year - so feeling a bit weary now.)

Still haven't caught up with laundry backlog from before. Every room in the house (except boudoir) has gone from basically tidy to shockingly untidy untidy and the boudoir is atrocious ie can't see floor! Rl a bit mad with so many different things going on it's unbelievable so boudoir is driving us all mad in a "hunt the clean sock pile" sort of way ... (we don't sleep in it - it's our sort of dressing room/clutter room). Really need to get this sorted!

On the positive front have managed our first apple harvest at wreck2 resulting in seventy-two bottles of pressed and pasteurised bottles. Forgot to bring back bed linen for washing though [stupid] for half term beginning week after next.

Going to relax and pack birthday parcels this afternoon and then when I am recovered, do some more laundry and somehow summon up supper and do a good s & s in bathroom.

Then turn my attention to forthccoming second hand sale ...

Sandycarrots · 17/10/2017 13:39

Oh sorry Cag missed that about your white goods crisis! Just what you don't need atm! Sympathies! Our ancient fridge needs replacing and I am hoping to do it in time for hordes at Christmas but we have had so many expenses of late we'll have to see ... . At least have agreed with immediate family that we are only buying presents for the children this year.

foxessocks · 17/10/2017 14:59

Thanks for the stain removing tips Flowers I don't think its dribble although wedid all sleep on the sofa when we were poorly but I think we had blankets down because I was worried about sick!Envy

goldenclaire · 17/10/2017 15:43

Hey all, housework has dropped rapidly since the weekend. Was out all day yesterday with my auntie and then went swimming in the evening and today i've been running around like a blue arsed fly. Gonna make a brew. Someone give me three quick chores to do to make me feel like i've done some cleaning Blush

Cagliostro · 17/10/2017 15:53

Claire

  1. Put a wash on
  2. Wash up/load DW
  3. Clean the loo :o

(If only I found it so simple to know where to start in my own house HmmBlush)

Well I bought a load of stuff in Asda needed for house/baby but have reached my very limited energy, er, limit. So heading home to collapse in a heap

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/10/2017 15:59

claire if you can be arsed heres three more..
1 put kettle on
2locate clean mug rinsing one if nec
3Brew
Grin
Or if you want a harder line...
----------->>

goldenclaire · 17/10/2017 16:07

I like Zoo's three suggestions better Grin Yep, i'm gonna need that pointy stick i think Blush

goldenclaire · 17/10/2017 16:16

Ok, i've put a wash load on linen basket resembling leaving tower of pisa the sink is full of warm soapy water with dishes, cutlery, etc, soaking waiting for me to go now and wash up. I will reward myself with a cuppa once the washing up is done Grin

goldenclaire · 17/10/2017 16:17

Hopefully thats enough to keep the pointy stick at bay...
