Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Another day passes - did do laundry but may need to do a supermarket dash at o-dark-thirty tomorrow morning to get a few bits. Spent too long in the cafe shopping at the garden centre!

Time to get some sleep, sweet dreams fledglings!

Happy Monday folks! Ugggh Mondays.

Today is going to be busy and I suspect somewhat unproductive. I have my flu jab in the morning, then my final growth scan at 3.30 followed by consultant straight after (clinic always overruns) to review said scan along with my blood sugars... so nervous as this is probably the day they decide what happens with induction etc.

Need to put laundry away (loads still to wash but we shouldn't let the clean stuff pile up), copy out my food/bloods diary, cook lunch as the sauce I defrosted yesterday didn't get used as I wasn't well enough to cook last night. As of now though I might try and get some more sleep. Hmm

foxessocks · 16/10/2017 07:31

Morning! Good luck today cag

To do
Daily routine
27 fling bathroom
Declutter in ds bedroom
Home bleugh
Food shopping
Opticians appointment

foxessocks · 16/10/2017 08:05

Argh advice please...I have been trying to get a mysterious stain out of our brand new sofa, literally no idea what it is or where it came from (maybe the cat?!) . Have tried wet vac, all our sofa cleaning products that we got with it...still there. And now there is another mysterious stain on the other cushion Angry they are huge stains and really obvious !
I haven't tried putting the covers in the washingmachine yet..what do you all think?! My only other thought was trying to buy a replacement cover or getting the manufacturer out but don't even know if that is possible! So annoying. Everyone said don't get a new sofa with little kids but it wasn't even the kids doing it I have no clue where they are coming from. Can only think the cat but we do put covers over at night. So confused Confused

Cagliostro · 16/10/2017 09:48

That's so strange foxes are you sure it's not DD spilling a drink or something but (understandably) not understanding/owning up?

Slow leak from ceiling above dripping?

Otherwise I can't imagine unless maybe there's something that's got inside the cushion somehow, so maybe worth taking the covers up.

cag pretty sure it's not my dd as I don't think she is quite mature enough to not own up iyswim...she does usually say as soon as she drops or spills anything. Could be the baby though I suppose...you've only got to take your eyes off him for a minute!

CS laptop is an interesting idea, we do have a laptop and it does get quite hot. Can't remember leaving it on the sofa for long periods of time though, it usually goes on the floor. I'm not sure it is a fluid stain no, it's very hard to tell! Play doh only gets played with in the kitchen so not that. I have a feeling the cat or the baby are the ones in the frame at the moment!!

It is really frustrating though as nothing seems to be shifting them and they just keep appearing!! Gah!

ta das
daily routine
dusted downstairs
mopped downstairs
food shopping and put away (also picked up a nice Christmas present in the sale so that was a bonus- sorry dreaded C word there)
polished downstairs mirrors
swish and swipe downstairs toilet
sorted through some old receipts
changed downstairs towel / tea towels

to do
hoover upstairs
mop upstairs
go to opticians (sigh)
polish upstairs mirrors
dust upstairs
change upstairs towels and ds bed sheet
cook dinner (veggie pasta with pesto and garlic bread)
possibly make soup with leftover vegetables (if I get time which I'm seriously doubting...)
declutter in ds room
declutter / 27 fling in bathroom (not sure I have much to throw out actually)

I'm feeling a bit defeated by my house at the moment! What with the sofa and also the clutter is building up again...where does it all come from?

Cagliostro · 16/10/2017 18:41

Drum no more Cotswold I'm being induced some time next week!

Now I just need to figure out how to avoid being completely paralysed by this and actually Get Shit Done. So much to do that I thought we had more time for!!!

I am absolutely jeffing terrified 😂😂😂 I was expecting another couple of weeks! But the placenta isn't great (going on various indicators) so looks like better out than in.

On my to do list is buying 'small baby' size clothes yay!!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/10/2017 22:33

Cag, Shock wow!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/10/2017 22:37

No flying achieved here today but I expected that as I was working all the school hours and then we had gymnastics after school. Dishwasher on and laundry in progress (still a huge amount in hamper) so not too bad though. I plan to sit watching telly for 20 mins or so then bed Smile.

CotswoldStrife · 16/10/2017 23:28

How exciting for me that it's almost time for you to meet Caglitini!

Not a great deal of progress here today Blush this week is a bit manic. Also, friends, relatives and neighbours keep falling ill and ending up in hospital so that is a bit of a worry on the side too. I am making long lists of things to remember with the urgent stuff for the day on a whiteboard. I know it's only Monday but I am already wishing the weekend was already here again!

Looking on the bright side, there is plenty of week left for me to be positive and productive so I'd better crack on with the links for tomorrow.

Sleep well, ready to attack the day before it attacks you tomorrow!

Not much done here either as a journey that only takes two hours by car and and normally three by train took six hours door to door! I could have got to my mum’s in Portsmouth from here (Brussels) in that time!

Have a basket of washing waiting to be folder up looking at me and another’s one downstairs waiting to be put out.

One thing I did do was sort out a cup of pens. One of these had leaked. I presumed it was fountain pen ink from one of dd’s fountain pens but all of hers used dissolvable ink which you can get off with a special eraser pen. However this wasn’t that and it got everywhere! Any tips on how to get ink off the coach? Also while in the Netherlands, the dog christened the coach! I dabbed and cleaned but it still smelt of wee when I left. Any tips for that please? Foxes, I hope you get to the bottom of your stain problem and Cag, oooh so exciting !!!!

Cagliostro · 17/10/2017 08:16

:o Thank you Thanks

Been awake a while, still feeling pretty panicky but can't blame myself for that really!

Just trying to think of what I can feasibly get done today. Laundry definitely needs doing and I must order Tesco. DH has sports club (last sessions today and Friday) so I might see if the Caglets can go with him and play in the park so I can rest.

Midwife and GP later and will buy stuff in town - missing various bits for hospital bag including it seems baby clothes in a smaller size. Also need to collect prescriptions and will get Caglets to finish packing their emergency visit bag (DD happened to start hers yesterday). It's tap class too but DD was limping last night so not sure.

I'm really not sure when DH should start paternity leave. I feel like we have so much more to sort out :( he's off tomorrow but we are waiting in for the new bed to arrive, hopefully we can get lots done in the morning as in the afternoon/evening we are looking after our great nephew for the first time.

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/10/2017 09:08

longtime sourcream I believe is suppose to shift ink stains. Although I only remember it being used on dad's work shirts when I was a kid. plus you can use the left over most of pot to make waffles and that has to be a win

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/10/2017 09:09

Cag i told you it would fly by and be here in no time Grin Good luck with the final prep

CotswoldStrife · 17/10/2017 11:40

zoo - teen strops - step aside coffee, this is a job for Wine

Ink stains - hairspray sometimes works, I think it's the alcohol in it really. So if it's a low-alcohol hairspray then it's probably no good! Stain devils?

Been shopping, posted cards, found one lost item and replaced batteries in it for DD's school trip today. Another manic week before the end of term so making lots of lists. One day, I hope to cross an item off one of them Halo

Keep on keeping on fledglings, back shortly when I've done some work
