Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Just not lustBlush

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/08/2017 19:53

zoo Grin. Aztec, as zoo says we have a virtual naughty corner which we stock up with nice food and drink, cosy rugs etc for when we don't feel like doing / can't do the routines or much in the house and would rather sit and eat chocolate . Recently given an alternate name of haughty corner thanks to one of zoo's infamous autocorrect changes. I'd like to clarify as this month's thread leader that there is no lusting going in in the naughty corner unless I have been doing it wrong

Sorry Grey and mermaids, just realised I missed you in the personals yesterday. Wing flaps to both of you.

Aside from car key debacle (why am I so disorganised Confused?) today has been ok actually. Took the girls out all morning in the hope that I could then look for keys most of the afternoon which actually sort of worked. We went to a soft play then to finish the dreaded shoe shopping which had to be done as DD2 had grown out of everything except sandals. £££ lighter but only wellies and dance shoes to get now which can wait until nearer the start of term. Hoping to get some tap shoes second hand and if not can order from dance school anyway when they start back so not too much hassle.

Ta da:-
Shoes bought so can declutter old ones
As a side effect of looking for car keys have decluttered the hallway
DD2 asleep and I think DD1 is too.
Lots of laundry - saw the bottom of the wash basket briefly and if I plough on there is hope for getting the holiday washing finished (of a fashion) tonight.

To do:-
Quick Aldi shop - should have done this afternoon but was hunting for car keys
Tea
More laundry

So cute cag lucky you!

I'm just eating some cadburys heroes and have been drinking wine since about 5.30pm Blush (in fairness I drink slowly so only a couple of glasses and we've had friends over!) I haven't done any flying today only the bare minimum...so much for getting back into it. We did have a very busy day though with swimming lessons and the park and the supermarket. Hopefully I'll achieve a bit more tomorrow.

I did renew my library books , go to the post office and ring the garage so that's something.

One of the many reasons I love this group is because it reminds me to focus on what I have acheived even when I think I've done nothing!

Cagliostro · 07/08/2017 21:57

I do think that's really important foxes it's so easy to beat ourselves up over what we haven't managed, rather than celebrating our achievements!

In the interests of the above, I did manage to take DD to a writing workshop which she loved, and do a library visit for the Caglets to choose books. And had a lovely time playing a word game with them over dinner.

Now trying to do Tesco order - last week was pretty good really in terms of meal planning, now can I keep it up? Also looking at maternity clothes online. I hate clothes shopping.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/08/2017 22:21

Very true Cag and foxes about celebrating the achievements Smile. Awwwwww at hedgehogs Smile.

I'm glad you found the keys BTW stressy! :)

Bloody love hedgehogs. It's been a few years since we had any or rather, any that weren't roadkill round here.

Managed the tesco order, not sure quite how useful it is, but I have enough for some meals and tried to think about what we already have in too - including some batch cooked stuff that should reduce the effort required!

Didn't put the laundry away today, it's still in the dryer, but I've put another wash on this evening, so I am not too behind. It's really going to take some effort to get consistent about this! I think I'll have to try and work it so we put the dryer on first thing (that can be one of the Caglets' jobs) - I forgot this morning, and then we were out much of the day and I was too tired to get it put away when we got home. So the routine is out already.

CotswoldStrife · 08/08/2017 00:28

Hmm, I thought I'd posted on here last night but obviously hit preview rather than post! I am back from hols and dealing with the laundry!

AztecHero · 08/08/2017 04:20

Morning all - I am up working (joy of summer holidays and trying to fit everything in!).

have another dog bed on- I used to have a routine of washing one a day which meant that they got washed approx twice a week. (We do not have so many dogs- just that they have loads of bedding!).

I could only manage 10 mins decluttering in the kitchen, but it is amazing what a difference it made!

I've started well, but DH is away for most of this week, and when he is about it all goes to pot. He thinks nothing of stripping down his bike and leaving it on the kitchen table(and I'm not allowed to move it- oh no).

Love the idea of a haughty corner!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/08/2017 08:49

Morning Brew. Oh no re. bike on kitchen table Aztec!

I am up and inspired by the fact I have no longer lost car key and have nearly finished holiday washing. Girls having some time on their tablets as last lazy morning for a few days so trying to get started in house.

Ta da:-
Suitcases empty and hoovered out
Went through DDs' shoes last night and old ones in a bag for charity

To do:-
Morning routine
Spray suitcases with fabric freshener stuff
Breakfast
Make packed lunch

If time... clean some shoes

Cagliostro · 08/08/2017 09:52

A bike on the table! Shock Angry

Should probably get dressed shortly as DH is taking DD trainer shopping so I will need to get the tesco delivery in. Might nip out myself later to look for clothes and browse baby stuff. I've only got clothes and muslin cloths so far! Time is ticking!

Decided we really can't manage much longer without a new fridge and a bed. Kitchen and bedroom are probably the worst rooms so will have a good incentive to sort those more before buying.

foxessocks · 08/08/2017 10:51

I'm in a proper grump this morning. Have been trying to put ds down for a nap for nearly an hour, he is so obviously tired but every time I think I've got him off to sleep he wakes up screaming. No idea what's bothering him, I've checked all the usual stuff. I've had to come downstairs and leave him to cry for a bit because I just can't deal with him any longer!! DD is at her swimming lesson with my mum this morning so I was really hoping the baby would sleep so I could get some stuff done. But that never happens when you really want them to sleep does it?!

Sorry for the rant.

foxessocks · 08/08/2017 10:51

DD will be back in a minute and the sum total of my achievements is that the dishwasher is on Angry

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/08/2017 18:09

Oh dear foxes. Hope you managed to get some stuff done. Yes, it is always the way when you want them to nap! Did you get any clothes Cag? Hello Cotswold Smile. We got back on Friday and am only coming to the end of the laundry now Hmm.

Ta da:-
Lovely day with friends
Laundry continues
DDs' tea
Suitcases aired and ready to put away

To do:-
Bath and bed etc
Evening routine

Laundry? Fuck I have forgotten to do laundry. The same laundry that left me hunting for work appropriate clothes this morning

Bollock cunting arsing laundry with its bastard pal the sock pile watched over by mount ironmore.

Cagliostro · 08/08/2017 18:45

Welcome back cotswold how was the holiday?

Thanks stressy I got one big non-maternity top and one proper maternity/breastfeeding top. So that's something. Not going to get maternity trousers yet as have a bit of room left in my current stuff.

Also got a bouncy chair and bath chair and hooded towels on sale, and investigated prams etc so at least that's something.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/08/2017 21:53

Einstein, your sweary posts always make me smile. Hope you got some laundry done. Glad you got some bits Cag, sounds very productive. Big wing flaps to all, links next...
