Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Hello all, just popping on while I have internet. No worries, Einstein, wasnpretty sure someone had said it but couldn't trawl through all the pages of the July thread to find out. Happy to carry on August (unless you have a desperate desire to do it in which I won't stand in your way Grin) as long as people don't mind my posts being pretty thin on the ground until we are back home.

Holiday cottage is damp and cold and the heating won't work Confused. My lovely handbag (one of the few nice things I own) is soaking, soaking wet and can't get heating on to try to dry it. Plan for this afternoon is to attack it with a hairdryer. Rock and roll holiday here. On the plus side the kids seem to be enjoying it!

Love that your to do list is to write a list Grin Einstein - my to do lists are similar. Will be back on later with some personals and links.

Thank you. I had grand plans for this summer. And I would love to say I was kicking that grand plans list. Unfortunately it appears to be kicking my ass instead Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/08/2017 06:20

Lack routine in big hols my mh rubbish.house in chaos.hoping keep show face here might get a whiff motivation to do something anything

Afreshstartplease · 03/08/2017 06:24

Snap zoo

I am now on three weeks in new house and still not unpacked.

DC4s rubbish sleep not helping. Didn't get him down til near 10pm last night. He then woke just before 12 and I managed to get him back in the cot but then woke again around 2 and ended up in bed with me tossing turning and chucking himself about. DC3 was then up at 5 after a bad dream.

Yawn.

Brew
Greymalkin · 03/08/2017 07:55

'S up y'all?

Sorry you're feeling fragile Zoo, baby steps and think one day at a time. here : Gin

Afresh naff sleep sounds awful. My DS is an early riser too and some days it is crippling!

Plan for today at Greytowers: (any housework done will be a bonus really)
Proper clean of hallway
Put away clean laundry
More washing
Take DS for a severe haircut, and if he behaves, softly afterwards.

PurpleDaisies · 03/08/2017 08:44

Sending Brew to fresh and zoo. Getting the big pointy stick out seems cruel so I'll go with the gentle poker. It's so hard when structure disappears.

Yesterday was a miserable day where I got not a lot done and felt hungover all dah without having had a drink. It's sunny here today and I'm feeling better so hopefully it's going to be a good one. I'm out this morning visiting an elderly man from church who's a bit lonely. This afternoon I'm going to sort out under the stairs... eek.

Today's to do
Mow lawn
At least 15 mins under stairs
Clean hob
Clean bathroom
Finish blanket

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/08/2017 12:27

Smileat gentle poker.hope its not hot from the fire!!

I venture town this morning(shudders)
Ds and lil zoo now have school trousers(as both possess neither bums or tums i shall sound the horn of success. And bow down to the greatness of morrisons for having adjustable waists that dont end up looking like top of a sack!!)

Tadas(befire town)
Fed cats/kits
Littertray
Fed zoolets
Wash on

After town
Wash in dryer
More on
Relocated liv room floor
Sort kitchen bin(which scoutcat tip over to drag out a sodding lamb chop bone.lttle swineHmm)

As keep run out if steam by 3pm am now cooking lunch-
Rice.roasted veg.beans/tuna.saute spinach

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 03/08/2017 12:28

I have negotiating the sorting of 3 boxes of toys. Ds finds it hard to let go of stuff so we have compromised with one box and it is going into storage for a year or 2 (by which point he will be nearly 15 and imo probably happy to get rid of the contents). This suits me as I just want it out of the lounge and he has agreed to also go through the board games and declutter a few he has grown out of he wants cards against humanity having played it with his older cousin Hmm

I am about to move and run some errands. We are drawing up new bedtime/house rules later so I need some emergency chocolate for surviving that delight Blush

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 03/08/2017 12:29

Our tea is in the slow cooker for the same reason zoo

Cagliostro · 03/08/2017 12:40

I have FINALLY got the glucose solution for my diabetes test 😂😂😂 back home to chill now

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 03/08/2017 12:43

Yay cag! Grin

Cagliostro · 03/08/2017 14:00

Going to taste vile I bet! Worst thing is if I don't have GD this time I still have to keep taking the test (when DS was born huge with low blood sugar they realised I may have developed it late in pregnancy, so they are keeping a close eye this time)

Bringing leek and potato soup to the naughty corner. With shitloads of butter in it while cooking.

Cards against humanity is funny but I must say I am still traumatised after playing it with my stepkids 😱😳

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/08/2017 14:12

Hello all, glad you got glucose Cag,that you got some toys sorted Einstein and that you are feeling better Purple

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/08/2017 14:14

Also Brew for you Afresh and big wing flaps for you Grey! Back on later with links

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 03/08/2017 14:22

cag chill it well and neck it thru a straw.you can put straw way back in your mouth and most of it will bypass taste buds(my dad had diabetes so i had these vile tortures and learnt in preg no 4 this top tip!!)

Cagliostro · 03/08/2017 14:25

Will do thanks zoo I had been wondering whether to chill it or not! I'm glad it's not fizzy as the lucozade was very difficult to drink so quickly with the bubbles

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/08/2017 14:49

The stuff our midwife issue was like very sugar water.vile dont even begin cover it.wasnt fuzzy though(i couldnt have drunk that at 12 wks.still was bad enough.boak)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/08/2017 16:01

Yes, would agree with advice to take through a straw Cag.

You have gone raucous Grin!

I tried Flylady years ago, it wasn't for me, but I have formed habits that never left me. I still set a timer for 15 minutes to attack an unwanted task.

Cagliostro · 03/08/2017 20:33

GAH I have to DO STUFF tomorrow. Whyyyyy.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/08/2017 20:58

Cag Grin

paxillin, it was too good not too, plus it meant I didn't have to think of a thread title Grin. Come back to Flylady!!!
