Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Downwards spiral here tends be more a nose dive.climbing back up tends be more a slow scrabble

Sanscollier · 14/07/2017 20:07

Many congratulations Mermaids!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/07/2017 22:05

Woohoo well done StarStarStar mermaids StarStarStar

Can definitely empathise with it just taking one or two things for house to descend into chaos.

Shock at making Christmas presents Einstein. Sounds extremely organised.

Yay for Councillor Mermaids, one step ahead of Trump as you'll have experience in public office ...

Still a bit up and down here, I thought I'd broken the dishwasher this week Sad One of the lights came on and I thought it was to put salt in - took the lid off the salt thingy and then realised I didn't have any. But left the lid off, forgot and then ran it anyway! Cue salty dishes. Put them back in when I realised and filled it up with salt and they came out worse the second time than the first. It seems to be working again now ...

Two more manic weeks here, I am on countdown. Freezer clearing eating has been going well though This week has mainly consisted of eating all.the.food, drinking lots of coffee and I'm enjoying a chilled glass of white as I type.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 15/07/2017 00:30

Congratulations Mermaids.

Afreshstartplease · 15/07/2017 07:11

I did it! I moved! It is messy and unpacked and still lots of work to be done but amazing that we actually did it!

Off to quick read through the thread

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/07/2017 07:17

Yay afresh
Did you sort work hours in the end?

Afreshstartplease · 15/07/2017 08:17

Ty zoo

Work hours unofficially confirmed so we will see

Congrats to all those with things to celebrate!

Cagliostro · 15/07/2017 08:50

Yay glad the work is done!

Back to reality here after the nice holiday. DD has dancing (ballroom only stops for August as it's pay monthly not termly) and I have to go for my heart scan, then get loads of errands done in town. Ugh.

Cagliostro · 15/07/2017 08:50

The work? I actually meant the house move!

CotswoldStrife · 15/07/2017 10:14

Good luck in your new home fresh, make happy memories! Well done on sorting the work hours out as well, good to hear they were agreed.

Have eaten lots for breakfast and DD doesn't have anything on until this afternoon. Have some stuff to get ready for tomorrow and the kitchen certainly needs work to get the dish situation back to normal!

Sanscollier · 15/07/2017 10:22

Congrats on the house move Afreshstart wishing you every happiness there!

Glad holiday was odd Cag hope heart scan goes well.

Waves to everyone else!

Sanscollier · 15/07/2017 10:23

Good Cag not odd!!! GrinGrin

PurpleDaisies · 15/07/2017 10:27

Well done mermaids, very exciting and congrats on the move fresh.

Somehow the thread dropped off "I'm on" but I've found you all again. Still EOTM here. Only four days to go and I absolutely can't wait. It's been so busy it's ridiculous. Very little housework happening but we did manage the Friday tidy so it's not awful here. Long list of things that need doing though.

Happy Saturday all. Smile

mermaidsandunicorns · 15/07/2017 12:12

Well done on the move fresh I fully sympathise. I've still got two boxes I haven't unpacked yet!

Merlets have gone to grandmas as I'm on a very late shift

Got up early to do laundry and dishwasher
Day off tomorrow will tackle the chaos then

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 15/07/2017 12:20

The cinamon bread I made before i went to bed last night went down well this morning.
Also gave me the opportunity to do 2 loads of washing last night.

But my brain is fuzzy having dreamt about being served a tea of sausage rolls soaked in Jelly. I hate jelly, however ds eats the stuff by the bucket load. It was weird. But i need a list to focus me:
to do
laundry
put slow cooker on for tea
folding
ironing
ds' bedroom

Sanscollier · 15/07/2017 12:53

Arf at sausage rolls soaked in jelly! Grin.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 15/07/2017 13:09

Horrifying it was! Truely horrifying!
I mean why would you do that to poor defenseless sausage rolls? Just whyyy?

Sanscollier · 15/07/2017 14:09

Grin Grin

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 15/07/2017 15:26

Anyone else hate, loathe and detest weekends and 'family fun'?

Ds is driving me insane and all we are doing is screaming at each other. He is in for a shock as his lego is disappearing this week when he is at school. Angry

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 15/07/2017 15:30

For the record all I have done is tell him he is not on technology all today/weekend and asked him to carry a pile of his books into his room.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/07/2017 16:31

Hate family fun Grin. Interestingly in my parenting class there was a session on this where they said family fun was a load of shit Grin.

Ta da:-
Dancing and swimming
DH has bought some food for the weekend
Tea in progress
Laundry in progress
Bag to charity shop
Gift cards bought (thanks for tips Purple) and cards started for teachers

To do:-
Can't face writing a list.

I agree TBH I think there is far too much pressure to provide endless 'rainbow days' and special experiences for kids but real life is more important. Families get stroppy and argue, no day is perfect, nothing wrong with that!

I anti-procrastinated today and phoned HMRC so I am feeling proud.
