Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2017 13:34

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Hello all

Sorry I've not posted in ages I've been so busy but it's quite exciting
Right so do you remember I had an interview to be a town councillor but I wasn't successful, well another vacancy has come up but our county council has said that this one must be filled by election if it is contested eek

So luckily I am very friendly with a lot of the current council and they are on my hit squad I'm hoping that anyone else thinking about contending sees what a faff it is to apply (two seperate signatures from persons living in the ward plus a witness signature Hmm) and can't be bothered which will mean I win by default if not I will have to send my leaflet to the printer on Mondays and leaflet and door knock 3000 people before august 10th

I'm fucking terrified

Google The University of Buckingham medical school. Their academic year consists of four terms with no long summer holidays; so you can complete a degree much more quickly than usual. A friend of a friend's daughter is studying medicine there currently and speaks highly of it; no idea about the overall standing of the course though.

Sanscollier · 12/07/2017 19:15

Oops - so sorry - wrong thread!!!! So glad it wasn't about anything too embarrassing about a supporating bunion or something Grin

Happy birthday foxes SmileFlowersCakeWine. Sounds like a lovely day.

OP posts:
Sanscollier · 13/07/2017 20:04

Good to hear you had a bit of down time today in celebration Foxes!

Hope you find the card Toostressy!

Quiet on here today. Everyone must be very busy with EOTM (end-of-term-madness). As a recent survivor, I was hoping things would be a bit easier during the holidays here (and they are in a way) but I always forget that:

-dh doesn't travel as much for business during July and Aug and is coming home expecting a hot/healthy lunch every day or dropping in for a piece of cake at tea time
-interns need mothering over and baking for

  • dd is at home for three meals a day and needs chauffering about/entertaining (have given up trying to make her help and do chores; honestly a three year old would be more amenable [sigh])
  • there is constantly loads of washing and packing to do (and no school uniform so more mufti to wash)
-everyone is at home more so the house gets more use and needs tidying/cleaning more often (not that anyone lifts a finger except for me)
  • friends keeping ringing up/dropping in/passing by
  • friends keep asking me to look after their dc
  • family are visiting

So may I please just let out a quick Eeyore-ish snort of despair before retiring to my boudoir in peace and watching something calming on Netflix!

Did do a bit of nominal Flying today - ta da:
animals
a bit more thorough swish and swipe than usual
thorough clean out of rabbit room
furry walk 1
quick bank run
quick supermarket shop
wrapped two presents and wrote two cards (tis the season)
2 x loads of washing
emptied dw
filled dw
cooked pancakes for breakfast with berries
cooked chickpea/lentil/curry soup thing for lunch
cooked pesto and tomato chicken bake for supper plus salad
cooked carrot and coriander soup for weekend
cooked frittata for tomorrow (fridge ingredient using-up session)

To do:
empty dw and fill again with leftover washing up from supper
clear down and wipe kitchen surfaces and sink
set up overnight washing
dining room table hot spots
on-line supermarket order (will probably do tomorrow now)
personal grooming (manicure, pedicure, eyebrows)
rubbish/Dettox kitchen bin

Big waves to everyone! And good luck with all the busy final weeks of term!

G'night all!

Sanscollier · 13/07/2017 20:07

Oh dear - re-reading that book - it sounds really horrible! I very much like to see friends normally - just not all of them, all at once, before they go off on their holidays - and I am just a bit grumpy/not in the mood/house in a mess/loads to do before visitors arrive sort of state!
