Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

I like bathroom weeks because ours is usually quite clean and clutter free. The extra room really should be under the stairs but it's a bit too much of a job.

Busy day today in work and the guinea pig has been to the vet so I had to get up super early. I'm looking at handprints in french doors and thinking should really clean them but can't seem to move...

For me "body clutter" follows meal planning almost exactly. If I can be bothered to cook proper meals I stay slim, if not I don't. There's a direct correlation between busy times and tubby times for me. I was really wanting take away but now will make a curry (jar sauce but must be better than take away).

PurpleDaisies · 10/07/2017 17:19

stressy any pritt stick is good. Actually it's one thing there's loads of at my school and I'm short of white board pens so maybe a voucher would be better? I'm sure whatever you get would really be appreciated though. My favourite thing is a card with something nice written in it.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/07/2017 17:28

Thanks Purple, think you are right, card and voucher probably way forward. Agree the best thing is some nice writing in a card Smile.

Hi all

Just pausing for afternoon cuppa [hands around pot]

Phew it is so incredibly humid here - it is very draining!

Cag Glad you are safely installed and journey wasn't too onerous!
Congratulations on your weight loss! That is a fantastic achievement! And I am sure you will feel so much healthier without the fizzy drinks! (I must cut down on my ginger ale and tonic water consumption.)

Thank you Toostressy just seeing it written down by you makes me believe it is possible! Hope you are surviving the play date (and don't worry - dc don't notice any mess).

You are having a v productive day Foxes! I too have work deadline and I haven't managed even five mins yet! However, I have:

Ta da:
animals
walked furry
emptied dw
hung up overnight washing
fed wms again
washed a few things up by hand
shined sink
wiped down kitchen surfaces
attempted complicated plaits for dd - took ages and she wasn't v.
impressed!
walked dd to morning activity with furry
long holiday organisation phone calls to siblings
did some diet and fitness research
wrote five anniversary/birthday cards
ordered two presents on-line
found presents in present cupboard (not an easy task as its such a mess)
collected dd from activity
prepped and served lunch and mucked up kitchen again
wrapped up two sets of presents
wrapped up parcel
cleaned up kitchen again
prepped "golden wonder" for supper and put in oven
prepped salad
kitchen a mess again [despondent emoticon]
dining room table hot spots

Going to have a second cup of tea and a rest for an hour now while it cooks!

Weary wing flaps to all!

Cagliostro · 10/07/2017 19:33

Ooh what's golden wonder? Apart from a crisp brand :o

Sanscollier · 10/07/2017 20:13

It's in the Mumsnet Cook book Cag. The best way of describing it is a French savoury cake. Bung grated courgettes, eggs, cheese, bacon, altogether and bake in oven for 50 mins or so. Cross between a quiche and a souffle and a frittata. Good on a summer eve with lots of salad. (Not particularly slimming though!) Can PM you with recipe if you fancy it!

foxessocks · 10/07/2017 21:35

That recipe sounds intriguing SC , I reckon that would be a good one for the children maybe without the bacon.

Ta das
Ironing (small amount as too hot!)
Bathroom mission
Bathroom declutter
Tidied utility room and wiped microwave
Posted parcel / went to shop
Cooked dinner and tidied up
Dishwasher on again
Finished my work

Didn't get round to declutter in DS room

Ds has only just gone to sleep Shock and DD only settled about an hour ago. Their sleep is all over the place at the moment. I don't think the muggy evenings help.

Sanscollier · 10/07/2017 21:38

Foxes it's good cold for picnics too!

Congrats on a productive day. I hope the little ones retiring late means that a lie-in tomorrow morning will follow!

Sanscollier · 10/07/2017 21:39

Forgot to say it contains flour as well! Can post or pm recipe if anyone interested!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/07/2017 22:10

Hello all,

Cotswold, definitely end of term busy here as well. Every day seems to be busy atm. Grin at not going in garage foxes. I am an awful procrastinator longtime although have got better out of necessity since having children as less free time. Einstein, hope there was less swearing as the day went on.

Wow, SC, very impressive list! Must investigate that Mumsnet cookbook - have decided to be realistic and those kind of things will be investigated in the autumn term and not during the summer holidays. foxes, v. difficult in the hot, long evenings to get little ones to sleep. Another impressive to do list there.

Cag, glad you arrived safely and that the place is nice.

Thank you all for being very nice about me messing up the zones.

Wing flaps to Afresh (hope you are surviving), zoo, Grey, Purple, mermaids, BluePheasant, Wh0Kn0ws and everyone else. Hope this is making sense jodie and Crackers.

**
Here is the daily summary for Tuesday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day

The daily focus for Tuesday is: planning. So useful... and yet I struggle to do it Blush.

Baby-step no 11 - add an inspiration page to your control journal with your favourite quotes on. Hmmm. Actually I love quotes but even I do not do this. Although if I found the time and actually had a control journal I probably would Grin.

reminders

We are in zone 3 this week the bathroom and one other room. The website definitely says zone 3 all week.

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 3.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 3 is here

The week's missions are here

Flykids mission

July's habit is swish and swipe

Happy flying everyone.

Bwahahahaha....
Ds is 12. Parents know nothing. Right now I would love to ground his ass until the earth was consumed by a giant fireball.

End of the day was a quiet truce.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/07/2017 22:37

Yes, as I was typing that I thought I was being optimistic Grin.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 10/07/2017 22:50

Well in his favour he washed the dinner pots tonight. But that was after going 'missing' for over 2hrs and then lying about it. Angry It was the lying about it and then being asked to be given credit for the lie that sent me through the roof tbh but he is aspie and it seemed a good idea at the time to him until the hole in the ceiling appeared as i went through it and sunk in over the next 2hrs of 'discussion' thank god the neighbours are understanding about the noise BlushHmm

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 10/07/2017 22:51

Morning all. Rainy day here.

Ta da:-
DD1 at school
Quick Aldi shop
One kid of laundry finished in washer

To do:-
Morning routine
Put washing in drier
Unpack shopping
Look for driving licence - the amount of time I waste looking for things I have lost is so frustrating.

Have one of DD1's friends coming round this afternoon but before that DD2 has another visit thing at school so will have an hour to tidy up and go to shop to get what Aldi didn't have.
