Fledglings cocoon, we're Flying in June ... .

Welcome to the June 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

[SC, wearing old fashioned caretaker's jacket with pearls, whistles nonchalantly whilst unlocking haughty corner door with antique rusty key, peers in ...ponders how we are all going to decorate it.

Mmm; haughty corner should have old brass chandelier swinging at jaunty angle I reckon, and a proper chaise longue or a knole sofa with with threadbare velvet, oh and a whistling kettle. Any other contributions gratefully received ... declutter your virtual furniture here!]

Good morning all!

My ta da list goes as follows this morning:
animals
dd packed lunch
hung up overnight washing on terrace to dry
photocopying with dd at office
help dd collate and staple 2 x 23 maths presentations on angles which she and a small group of four are giving in their class today
emptied dw
filled dw
wiped down kitchen surfaces
dining table hot spots

To do:
an entire day of copy-editing
think of something for supper (buy and cook it)
haircut

Well done on the exercising Cag (take it steady) and hope you have a lovely time at your mum's. I know what you mean about drinking tap water and finding it "heavy". Wierd isn't it?

Cotswold thank you for lovely comment on previous thread Smile and I am liking the sound of your craft and cooking days! Star to your dd for decluttering an old favourite!

Oh no Toostressy hope you have managed to sort childcare ... wish we were near enough to help out.

Rosa glad the thread is working for you Smile! Sorry you've been feeling rotten (dh has same thing) and hope you feel a bit better today.

Waves to Foxes Zoo Honu Grey Purple Afreshstart Whoknows Einstein Mermaids BluePheasant and anyone else I have forgotten. Did we bring any other newcomers with us from last month? Anyone, hello to anyone who is lurking!

Going to close screen now and get cracking!

Have a good day everybody!

Morning! I say this every month but I can't believe it's June already.

I have woken up full of sneeze Hmm hopefully that will go once I am up and about though!

Need to do more laundry and pack for mum's. Not leaving till much later though so no rush.

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 07:54

Morning scrubbers

It's nearly Christmas 🎄

Rosabellajames · 01/06/2017 08:13

Lol fresh I've already got a couple of xmas pressies and thought about writing a list for dd2 so I can keep an eye out for bargains Grin I am a Christmas nut though, I used to throw a party on Christmas Eve for all the local kids but stopped when I was pregnant with dd2, now we tend to go bowling or trampolining so it's still a big party but no organisation required haha

Thanks sc I took an antihistamine in the end but I don't like medicating while breastfeeding if I can help it.

Ta da
Everyone's fed and watered
Pots done
Washers on (looks like another beautiful day)

To do
Shopping
Declutter dining room (recovering the dining table is first on my list)
Declutter entrance hall (shouldn't take long)
30 mins ironing
Another load of washing
15 mins putting clothes away
Make sure the kids stay alive and are fed ( also a walk to the park, I don't want the kids to spend the holidays watching me clean, so I try and play with them and do my bits while they're occupied)

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 01/06/2017 08:25

Morning.
I basically came in for work and slept through (well with an hour up in the middle to sort car tax and talk the mother figure through backing up her computer - she knows how but needs reassurance she is right) feeling slightly more human today as a result.

To do:
All the things

Motivation:
On holiday

weather? Perfect for doing most the things...

Reality? we shall not talk of this yet, maybe later

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 01/06/2017 12:12

Sorry Zoo it was me that started that particular line of swearing Blush

could add to it but will refrain and be good mostly

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 12:21

I love Christmas sorry zoo
I've not started shopping though. Need to get house move done first

Cagliostro · 01/06/2017 12:26

I love Christmas too :o pretty much have the caglets' birthdays sorted (this month and august) but not started Christmas yet. I will have to think about it as we will have a newborn 😱😱

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 12:37

When's your due date cag? Last year our DC4 was about 10 weeks at Christmas , was was lovely but he was obviously oblivious! I expect this year he will be all over the tree!

My motivation has plummeted who has the stick?

Cagliostro · 01/06/2017 12:55

Due 11th Nov :)

Cagliostro · 01/06/2017 12:55

No motivation here either, trying to get the energy to pack our suitcases Hmm

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 12:56

Even smaller then!

No need to be scared! You can so do this! And you have helpers Smile

Cagliostro · 01/06/2017 12:59

Aw thanks. I just can't believe I'm having another one TBH! My youngest will be 8 by the time this one arrives, I have forgotten everything Blush

MercuryRising · 01/06/2017 13:16

Cag it is amazing how quickly it all comes back to you. Ds was 10 and Dd 8 when Ds2 was born. He is 14 months now and it feels like he has always been here!!

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 13:46

See I have never had chance to forget. Have had atleast one child under four constantly for over 9 years, and on three occasions had two under four (once was two under two)

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/06/2017 14:21

I had a big gap between dd1 and dd2(change partners)it was lovely.comes back to you like riding a bike!
Wish I was having another baby too old now

I don't dislike Xmas, just way too early to start thinking of it!! Ds was born a week before Xmas emergency c sect.that was a crazy Xmas blur...I came home 2days later and shuffled round Morrison's day after point at a hapless dp who was push trolley what Xmas food to buy!!was only year I had Xmas sorted by September!!Grin

afresh can't find my stick.have a Brewin haughty corner
My get up n go has got up and gone!

CowParsleyNettle · 01/06/2017 14:29

Place marking for motivation. I am the queen of hoarding, DH claims he lives clutter free little does he realise it's because I'm far more ruthless with his junk than mine!

We won't talk about child induced clutter....

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 14:52

Brew if you insist zoo

Talking babies makes me kinda want one. Shouldn't be possible to feel like that with a seven month old Shock

Rosabellajames · 01/06/2017 16:19

Dd2 turned 1 on Friday, doesn't sleep, in our bed, never off the boob and is generally still a very velcro baby and I still want another - I do wonder whether that feeling will ever go away.......although 4 is a nice even number ......Grin

Rosabellajames · 01/06/2017 16:24

Ta da
Lovely afternoon at the park
Entrance is re-organised / decluttered
Shopping done
Wash out on the line
Washer back on
Dishwasher on

To do
Pop the next washing out
Tea (already prepped)
Empty dishwasher
15 mins decluttering dining room
30 mins ironing

Better get cracking, hoping to get it all done by 8 tonight so I can relax a little instead of panicking about how much I still had to do .

Afreshstartplease · 01/06/2017 16:26

I have four, but my boy girl numbers are not even ...
