Welcome to the April Flylady thread. We will be posting links every day to the Flylady method of maintaining your home and all posters, lurkers, newbies and returners are welcome - there will be a lot bit of general chat too. Post your ta-da successes and inspire others (or join some of us in the naughty corner on a less-than-stellar day, we all have them!) and bask in the support of the fledglings as we swing into Spring and ease towards Easter (avoiding the dreaded pointy stick of motivation)!

Ta das
Daily routine done
Dinner cooked and kitchen sort of tidied...
Washing brought in
Garden tidied up
Living room tidied up

I have to admit I'm going to go and sit in the naughty corner for the rest of the evening, haven't touched the porch yet. Wanted to do an exercise dvd but not sure I've got the motivation. Two poorly children so we've been cooped up all day and everyone has been tired and grumpy at dinnertime. Poor DD actually refused any dinner and we didn't push it , she took herself off to the sofa and promptly fell asleep. She is still asleep now and I've no idea whether to wake her up and try and persuade her to eat something before bed and put her PJ's on or just carry her to her bed and leave her there...What would you all do?! She has never fallen asleep on the sofa before! She really needs a dose of calpol before bed too...

Help me you lovely wise people!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/04/2017 18:30

Stressful afternoon - short version: something got damaged which was an accident but aaaaggh. First day of Easter hols too. Nothing life or death and everyone is ok but I am very ready for bedtime! Frustrating as we had been having a nice day before that.

foxes, not sure I count as wise! Personally I would change to PJs (I used to find if they woke in clothes they thought it was still daytime then were up for hours) but wouldn't stress about food or calpol (unless temp incredibly high) - she can have cal poly if she wakes and will be fine without one meal. Unless of course she says she is hungry. Why knows the best thing to do though - why is there no rule book! Others might do things differently.

foxessocks · 03/04/2017 18:54

Thanks toostressy that's good advice re the calpol I stupidly didn't think to just wait until she woke up and give it to her then! Doh! As it happens she did wake up and I put her PJs on , gave piece of toast as she asked for it and some calpol and a drink and she had a story while she ate and drank and she has been asleep in bed since 6.30! Ds has other ideas though and has decided to remain wide awake with no signs of stopping!

Sorry to hear about your stressful afternoon hope it gets sorted and hope you're having an easy bedtime!

I am ready to just flop!

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/04/2017 18:58

foxes I'd PJ her n put bed.if she wakes in night ravenous(unlikely unless better) a bit weetabix not req much effort and helps resettle?
Has she got a cold or just feverish/grumpy?
As for calpol I'd wait til she's awake and upset/needing it.I don't give mine that unless they feel crap as a fever is bodys way marshalling immune system into action.lower it n takes longer that response kick in.
Star fir you.its hard nursing poorly ones.very draining.hope they sleep so you get some rest.CakeBrewand was go at chocolate but u don't have that emoji anymoreSad
School boy error means as I was wash Lil zoos hair/supervise shower I forgot Cook pasta to add to the bake so meat n cheese in oven, pasta cook with broccoli and put pasta on plates and meat on top!! Inhaled top speed so assume was still okGrin
Dd2 wallowing in bath, so peaceful now (takes tin hat off for a bit)
Just got dishes to wash after they've eaten and demon dentist to read before they go up
Then it's time roast veg I prepared earlier to go with pasta and some cheese(grated earlier) for dd2 and i to eat around 8
Cheery wingflaps to everyone!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/04/2017 18:59

X post foxes

foxessocks · 03/04/2017 19:05

Thanks zoo she has a high temperature and was complaining of headache so thought calpol was best course of action for tonight. I haven't given her any since breakfast as she seemed happier this afternoon. Not sure what's up with them they both have high temperatures and just not quite right really, tired and lack of appetite ( refused a biscuit this afternoon!!) and dd was very upset this evening.

And what you did there zoo was make a deconstructed pasta bake - you should be on Master chef!

MercuryRising · 03/04/2017 21:09

Fingers crossed you have a peaceful night foxes

There must be something in the air zoo ds1 and dd have been at each other bickering all day.

I had a productive few hours at school even with all 3 dc in tow. We took ds2 to see the nurse and got drops so I am hoping by the end of tomorrow his eyes will be clearer.

Tada
Washload done, hungout, brought in
Our bed stripped and remade
Downstairs hoovered
Porch decluttered
Dining table hotspot cleared
Washing up done after dinner and sink shined Grin

Out of curiosity... lots of people keep telling me it is unnecessary to iron. I have been trying to hang uncreased stuff up instead of simply chucking it in the ironing basket in a bid to reduce the workload. Do any of you not iron and if you don't does anyone have any tips on how to stop us looking scruffy?

foxessocks · 03/04/2017 21:15

I think people who don't iron tend to have tumble dryers but I'm happy to be corrected! I hang my washing up beautifully but it still needs ironing so if there is a technique I'm not doing it right!!

Our food shopping just got delivered. I order three bags of mini eggs to make Easter nest cakes with and me and dh have eaten two bags Blush. I now don't have enough for the cakes! Are nests without eggs acceptable?! I was going to take them to a friends house as well...I think I may tell her I didn't put the mini eggs on as they are a choking hazard for small children. This is true after all...

MercuryRising · 03/04/2017 21:19

Foxes we have a tumble dryer but I worry about shrinking everything ... maybe ironing has to stay.

Mini eggs are a chocking hazard ... sounds like you may just have to eat the remaining bagWink

mermaidsandunicorns · 03/04/2017 22:39

Just finished work
Super super busy
Head office sent us cake I will attach a photo to show you what incorrect cake cutting heathens I work with!!!

Ease towards Easter with the Fledglings and the Flylady April thread!
mermaidsandunicorns · 03/04/2017 22:40

Who cuts cake like that seriously

BluePheasant · 03/04/2017 23:26

Yes zoo definite man sulk here this morning! He is off surfing tomorrow so that will sort him out Grin

Tbf to DH I have been hideous lately with rather extreme PMS. Every time I get it this badly I wonder if should go to GP as it really isn't just normal PMS, feels like full blown depression tbh, is awful Sad But then it doesn't again happen for ages, so I don't look into it any further. Last time was in August, I remember as we were on holiday at the time, great timing! It has dragged on for a while this time but seem to be coming out the other side of it now and things have been smoothed over with DH, hopefully normal service resumes tomorrow!

Fingers crossed DS eye clears up quickly Mercury sound like a productive day Smile I completely forgot about the porch, might try and do tomorrow as really does need a tidy up!

mermaids you must be not too far away from me if off out to Eden for the day Smile
That cake has been massacred, not sliced!

Oh dear toostressy such a shame when something spoils a nice day

mermaidsandunicorns · 03/04/2017 23:31

Bluepheasant

We are about 30 mins from Eden
My mum is about two mins and my stepdad works on one of the farms. We have annual passes which is brilliant and keeps merlets v happy

CotswoldStrife · 03/04/2017 23:48

Evening all. Much calpol and icing of injury has taken place here today, DD now thinks she will manage at school tomorrow - I am less sure and have said we will check in the morning. I may take her home for lunch (which will consist of food, calpol and icepack) if she does go though - no running around for her tomorrow!

foxes hope the calpol works it's usual magic - I find it best to let them sleep but hang around nearby so calpol can be squirted quickly when awake! zoo awesome list as ever (and you must all have very clean teeth), Stressy and Blue we can't do it all so go easy on yourselves there, no guilt. Cag sometimes we fall off the Flylady wagon and sometimes it reverses over us too but you have other things to deal with at the moment Grin mermaids time to regroup is always a good plan IMO and fudge you need to get some sleep as you can't run on empty. Mercury my mahoosive ironing pile is the stuff of legends, we clearly only wear a fraction of our clothing Blush

Links next, see you tomorrow morning!

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2017 07:31

Well, so much for my new month enthusiasm. I had a rotten day at work and flopped on the sofa. That was it. Today will be better...

To do
Gp vet appointment
Sweeping living room and kitchen
Bathroom clean
Buy wedding present for friend
Finally finish blanket and post

foxessocks · 04/04/2017 08:19

purple sometimes all we can do is flop on the sofa, don't feel bad about it! Hope you have a better day today.

We had a terrible night's sleep. Ds was up from 9.30 until 2.30 then back up at 4.30 , then dd woke up at 7. She seems quite cheerful this morning but still feels a bit warm. Baby is very grumpy probably due to tiredness more than anything else. We had a story time session booked at the library today which dd was really looking forward to but I don't think we'll be able to go.

Going to at least get up and showered and dressed or I definitely won't get anything done today!

BluePheasant · 04/04/2017 08:23

Morning!

Still in bed with a Brew Blush DD is next to me(did her usual of sneaking in early Grin) and she's still out for the count, so I'm letting her sleep on a bit as she was so shattered yesterday. DH has gone surfing, so I'm enjoying a cuppa and a lie in. Am feeling much better and more positive today, the black clouds have lifted Smile

I washed the kitchen floor last week and it's looking ok still so it's just going to get a good sweep today, will put my energy to doing yesterday's porch mission instead!

Purple I flop big time when work is awful. Days like that are just basic survival!

Mermaids I used to live a stones throw from Eden, had a summer job there in my younger days. My Dad now lives less than 10 mins away. We live about an hour atm. Nearly got the locals pass but didn't get round to it this year. I know someone who works there who kindly signs us in as guests, so we usually visit each year, DD loved the dinosaur thing last summer, that was fun Grin My friend goes almost every week with her two young DC so she def gets v good value with the pass! I got the Heligan gardens locals pass the other day, hadn't been there for years, such a lovely place! Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.

Right, should really get myself moving!

Hope all poorly DC are feeling better today.

BluePheasant · 04/04/2017 08:31

Sympathies foxes nights like that are torture, don't try and do too much today.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/04/2017 09:08

Morning all, Brew for everyone who is feeling tired or worn out. foxes, good luck getting through today and absoultely agreee that eating those mini eggs was a health and safety move Grin.

Another lazy morning here as the next two days we will need to be up and out early as I am working and DDs at childcare.

Ta da:-
Morning routine in progress
Breakfast eaten

To do:-
Encourage girls to get dressed
Carry on with DD1's room. She says she wants to look for some of her tat key rings so am trying to encourage her to go through her collection of things and organise them. Still sorting out her clothes and am a bit scared to move on to the many little trinkets she has that don't have a home Grin.

foxessocks · 04/04/2017 10:00

We are all up and dressed and I've unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and taken some rubbish out. I'm trying to get the baby to nap because he is clearly exhausted but he won't feed which is his usual way of getting to sleep. I've put him in his cot and am just leaving him so whinge a bit and see if he nods off. Feel horrible doing it but just not sure what else to do at this point. He really needs sleep.

Cagliostro · 04/04/2017 10:01

Zoo twiglets are still awesome but have been overtaken by a sudden need for Grape Nuts. I'm just waiting impatiently for the bananas to ripen so I can have at it (layered sliced banana, Grape Nuts and a fruit corner yoghurt) :o

Midwife appt later this morning, and long story short Caglets now know about the pregnancy which wasn't on the plan at all 😱😞 it feels too early! Just hope the MW books me for an early scan as I'm now panicking even more
