Welcome to the April Flylady thread. We will be posting links every day to the Flylady method of maintaining your home and all posters, lurkers, newbies and returners are welcome - there will be a lot bit of general chat too. Post your ta-da successes and inspire others (or join some of us in the naughty corner on a less-than-stellar day, we all have them!) and bask in the support of the fledglings as we swing into Spring and ease towards Easter (avoiding the dreaded pointy stick of motivation)!

Evening all

Work today so not much done

My wonderful mum very kindly bought me a load of gardening bits which is lovely but led to ds2 wanting to dig a hole in the garden

I have white floors and walls

Blush hope your sickness eases soon , I had bad sickness with both pregnancies and I definitely found eating little and often helpful and I gave up eating normal meals just ate whatever I could stomach even if that mean living on crackers for a while...

G'wan Foxes just give it a good squirt :o
Thanks re: the sickness!

Trying to anti-procrastinate and write a blog post that I've been meaning to write for ages. I've got other ones to catch up on (I do a kind of diary thing and I'm soooo behind Blush) and I'd planned to get all caught up first but that was never gonna happen. So I'm writing this one instead. I'm finding reading and writing difficult due to nausea - MN I can just about manage as I can read a tiny bit at a time (and it's great distraction), but I've not read novels or written anything for a few weeks because it's just making me feel weird!

PurpleDaisies · 01/04/2017 22:47

Thanks for the app recommendations-I'll be looking at them properly tomorrow and trying some out next week. We're desperately trying to avoid getting a cleaner while we're still paying moving costs and have decorating to do but it's so hard now we're both full time.

After a fab lunch out (who knew cauliflower cheese soup was so delicious?) I totally ran out of energy and slept on the sofa for two hours while dh did the food shopping. I made a big vat of daal which I've frozen in lunch sized portions to avoid sandwich boredom and keep costs down. We had it for tea-really nice. I'm planning on doing one freezer/lunch thing every weekend so there's a variety to choose from.

Ta da's
Fifteen minute tidy
Food shop and big cook
Meal planned this coming week
A LOT of sleep!

Not everything got done but the house doesn't look too bad and there's always time tomorrow.

CotswoldStrife · 01/04/2017 23:17

I also have the Cozi calendar - haven't used it for a bit, should start using it again. But I don't have the app, just log in via the net. I will see if I have enough space on my Kindle Fire for the app!

DD had a fab day, but hurt her foot this evening so will see how that goes tomorrow. I suspect she may have broken the top of her big toe! Not a lot we can do about sore toes, unfortunately.

More ferrying around tomorrow (unless the foot stops play!) but not as much, so should get more done. Only one more week of school here, can't wait for the extended break!

Will post the Sunday links shortly. Good flying today, people!

The daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

**

Baby-step no 2 - get dressed as soon as you get up (this is one of the top tips IMO)

No zone work or missions at the weekends – woo hoo, enjoy!

The daily focus for Sunday is: renew your spirit

The monthly habit for April is making your bed

@PurpleDaisies we're both full time too and it can be really hard at times. When we're on 8 hour days I find 5 mins in evening (lay out clothes, bags/keys set out, diary checked, 2 min tidy/sofa cushion plump, put a wash load in on timer to be finished when I get up), 15 mins in morning (rotate laundry, wash the 2 mugs normally sat in the sink from night before, do just 1 of the 'blessings' of weekly home blessing hour), and then 15 mins declutter or mission when I get in is manageable. I can usually do that 35 min when spread out like that and it keeps things ticking over nicely. I enjoy cooking so dinner isn't an issue and I wash as I go so there's only 2 plates or bowls after dinner. However some days we do 10-12 hours and those days the mission/declutter more often than not gets dropped but the one 15 min in the morn and 5 min in eve (plus putting DP on dish drying duty) at least keeps things under control. Now some days I do have a mental hissy fit and do nothing which just makes me feel even worse but when those routines are established it's easy to just jump back in and always surprising how easily everything seems to fall back into place compared to the drama my head creates! So for me it is 'doable' with routines but not sure how things will work when we have a baby, but then I won't be working 10-12 hour days with a baby so I pray my little snippets will happen!!

Hope everyone has a lovely chilled Sunday!

And healing vibes to the sore eye and sore toe!!

comeagainforbigfudge · 02/04/2017 08:34

^^

Been AWOL, what with crappy work and crappy health everything has gone to pot again.

Have had a stoopid MS relapse which I'm not fully recovered from but I'm determined to get some control back somewhere. So the house is GETTIN IT Grin

Very much baby steps all the way for myself, but hopefully by end of this month, will start to see a difference.

To do's
Wash last night's dishes
Clean all kitchen surfaces
Clear and clean dining table
Sweep kitchen and dining room floors
Do some reading for online course
Sort work stuff for tonight.
Have a nap

Ta da's
Wash on!

Let's see if I can keep this up this time! Wink

PurpleDaisies · 02/04/2017 08:55

Thanks dani-it's good to hear people manage! I've been self employed for ages so it's just a big shock having regular full time hours.

We've discovered the power of the fifteen minute tidy in the evening-it's amazing how much gets done. The house is mainly decluttered (we only moved in six months ago and have been through nearly all the boxes before packing or after unpacking) so at least that's something. I also like cooking but I've always had the luxury of time to do it so I'm accumulating a set of either very quick post work or weekend batch cook recipes. The plan is to allocate the bigger jobs a day and write them next to the meal plan. Then at least the basics should get done. We've got two weeks off at Easter so hopefully we can catch up and get ahead a bit then.

Ta da's
Cup of tea
Cleaned out guinea pigs (currently running around kitchen floor).

Today's to dos
Church
Buy kettle and washing line
Tidy kitchen and clean sides
Finish baby blanket and package for posting
Look at work for tomorrow and 10 mins sign revision
Finish plan for weekly cleaning
Clean bathroom

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2017 09:25

Checking in for April. I am now off for the Easter holidays so I am determined to jump back in and get the house back into order. Ds2 is now crawling and climbing so housework is more challenging as he likes to be involved Grin

MercuryRising · 02/04/2017 11:05

Afreshstartplease · 02/04/2017 17:30

zoo there is so much stuff in this house I do sometimes wonder if two families live here so maybe!

RE the kettle pile I stuck half of it in the crap cupboard!

Honu · 02/04/2017 17:39

Many thanks to thread leaders and to all posters who help keep me sane. Delurking to say I read it all but no time really to post. Also I use the Flyhelper app on android, especially the routines and the zones bit.

School holidays just started here - may get some clutter cleared out. We don't just have bags of random crap, we have cupboards and rooms of the stuff, not to mention the paper crap fire hazard. The place stays bearably clean (thanks Flylady routines and Fledglings) but it's just the tidying. I need to reread Konmarie. I am aiming at 40 bags out of the house for Lent but have managed 6 so far. I offer vats of strong coffee in the naughty corner.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2017 17:40

Grin at kettle pile decluttering. Must tackle mine tonight.

Ta da:-
Tea eaten
Most of tidying up from tea done
Washing on line
Went through lots of clothes in DD1's wardrobe so at least have made a start in her room.

To do:-
More laundry
Lure DD1 back inside as we are currently out playing
Bedtime
Before bed routine
Put away some winter uniform of DD1

Will have to phone HV tomorrow re DD2- I fear they will say go back to pull ups which feels like a massive step backwards now. She is currently having an early shower by DH.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2017 17:41

Xpost, hi Honu Smile.

Afreshstartplease · 02/04/2017 17:57

stressy which end of being 3 is your dd at? If younger I would not worry at all about going back to pull ups but if she's a September school go-er I think I would plod on
One of my older DC didn't crack it until right before school and did still have some soiled accidents after starting school. Both older DC wore night pull ups until 5+
DC3 was dry day and night by second birthday which was lovely after struggling with older ones

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2017 18:03

Afresh, she has just turned 4 Sad. I am so tempted to plod on but she has been upset and clingy all weekend and now all poos are in her pants. That's the thing, she will start school in sept.

Afreshstartplease · 02/04/2017 18:08

Have you seen those dry like me things?

They look like sanitary towels but for potty training

I had been planning on trying them with DC3 but she just didn't need it

Have you tried bribery? Is it just poo problems or wee too?
