Welcome to the April Flylady thread. We will be posting links every day to the Flylady method of maintaining your home and all posters, lurkers, newbies and returners are welcome - there will be a lot bit of general chat too. Post your ta-da successes and inspire others (or join some of us in the naughty corner on a less-than-stellar day, we all have them!) and bask in the support of the fledglings as we swing into Spring and ease towards Easter (avoiding the dreaded pointy stick of motivation)!

cag definitely onwards and upwards! Hope your ds is feeling better as well.

Dh has taken dd to nursery this morning as he is still on holiday. It's meant to be relaxing for me not to have to do it but I just find it stressful because he leaves everything to the last minute and was much later leaving than I would have been. Wish I did be more laid back like him! I ended up having to point out the time to him and then he got annoyed with me for nagging him about it. Argh!

To do
Daily routine
Bedroom declutter
Ironing
Exercise dvd

But first I'm going to have a stress - relieving shower...

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 15:03

Sofa not arriving till tomorrow

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/04/2017 16:04

cag poor little chap.its such an unpleasant thing when it's out of control.my eldest had many infections in hers.lil zoo gets hot in tropical temperatures at school and they are rubbish at help her to be comfortable enough not to scratch to billyoHmm
On attic front at least it makes easier part things, onwards and upwards with no regretsWink
I've had dp underfoot and done virtually nothing,he watch judge Judy for 2hr solid and I fell asleep!!

Picked up zoolets
Need wash lil zoo hair and lice check(neighbour kid gave dd2 nits over hols)
Make dinner

I really want just go bed....

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 16:19

Aww, eczema is so miserable isn't it! Even now kids comment, what's wrong with his hands, why are his hands so dirty (they aren't they are just scabby and raw). He's only had one bad infection but it was so bad it could have been life threatening if it hadn't been picked up in time - started as little yellow spots, then his whole body started scaling over, we didn't realise how bad it was but they said if it had covered much more of him his body would've gone into shock and made him very ill indeed. He was only 3 then. Needless to say we are super paranoid about infection now!

I'm ashamed to confess I HAVE just gone to bed Blush DH has taken the Caglets to their activity and I've played some piano (I can always count that as an achievement because when I was having occupational therapy for my health issues, the doctor made me promise to keep playing because it's good for me :o) and now I'm lying down about to watch some Masterchef! :o

Should prob put a wash on later as well

CotswoldStrife · 20/04/2017 16:34

DD amused herself again this morning so I went through a lot of her clothing and pulled out the stuff that is too small for her growing like a weed which was fab. Also did a load of laundry and wiped the kitchen floor. Go me.

Also shouted at DD when she announced my PIN number to the supermarket, FFS! I am debating whether to change the card Angry

Hi everyone. I've been away for the last couple of days which has been nice. We had a spa day with dh's parents and I went to the gym for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it and I'm really going to make a big effort to go after work when I'm back next week.

Lots of to dos relating to having been away but I'm decluttering the sky box instead...

Where the naughty corner? Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/04/2017 21:48

Hi everyone, Purple, I'm in naughty corner Grin. Not actually too bad as DH has done home bleugh but only really quickly and no beds changed. Busy weekend and in laws coming tomorrow so doing online food shop for tomorrow now. Realistically by the time that is finished it will be late so have done no before bed routine. Feeling very tired though (strange as quiet day at work) and just want to sit down with rubbish telly. Will have to get up early tomorrow to get school stuff ready.

CotswoldStrife · 20/04/2017 23:43

I might watch some Masterchef on iplayer...

Honu · 21/04/2017 07:13

My house still a tip - untidy rather than filthy. And the paper .... terrifying. However, I came on here to share:

I have been doing the Apartment Therapy spring clean for 20 mins in 20 days or some such title, where you do the little jobs you never get round to and it spruces the place up a bit. So yesterday I did the 'clean your dishwasher' task. Now I thought my dishwasher was pretty good - I clean out the filters, keep it topped up with salt and rinse aid etc, and this is one of the more 'under control' items in this place. Easy peasy, no? But this task talked about cleaning the bottom of the door. So I opened the door wide and wiped the bottom of the door and the gap underneath. It was absolutely disgusting. Seven years' worth of shit.

Just sayin'

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/04/2017 07:46

foxessocks · 21/04/2017 10:13

PurpleDaisies · 21/04/2017 10:28

Sweepingchange · 21/04/2017 10:33

Hey all! A belated "Happy Easter" to all fledglings. Hope everyone ok and that you all had as good a holiday as possible.

Cannot believe it is Friday again - time is flying by - no pun intended!

Just sweeping in for my weekly visit. Easter didn't go exactly as planned; I didn't feel particularly well and we were still assembling Ikea outdoor dining furniture while the lamb was in the oven and the guests were on their way ! We are so terribly behind with everything at wreck2 and everything is taking ages to sort out. But we've had essential electrics and plumbing done so we can camp there reasonably comfortably and have done an awful lot of digging and pruning and mowing!

Still, countryside still blossomed-filled and lovely and a change is as good as a rest and all of that! Highlight was seeing a couple of hares boxing in the early morning in the garden. DD very upset about returning to school though, although she is in better spirits now she is actually back ifyswim.

Three steps forward and two steps back with technology too. Had telephone land line and Internet connection installed as planned and all went well. Then dh's technical bod from office came out to connect dh's phone computer thing to office servers and now telephone and Internet don't work again. We are trying to get this fixed currently.

Since coming back have been attending one long series of medical (and veterinary!) appts - latter for furries not me Grin and an educational psychologist appt on behalf of dd. One of the gynae appts was a bit worrying and I definitely have to have (a) an operation and (b) further urgent tests to determine scope of operation and treatment [gulp]. Absolutely no point in worrying until I have more concrete facts though.

Have hardly seen dh - he was mahoosively busy with work even during the holidays - I just seem to follow in his wake picking up half-empty cups of coffee that he never has time to finish before he rushes off somewhere else! Wish he had managed to have more of a rest during Easter holidays poor bloke.

Oh and as for Flying: have caught up with laundry but basket is full again so need to tackle that again today and do urgent towel wash first. Also need to organise linen for family bed-making tomorrow. And do usual veg soup-making and meal planning and prep (fishcakes tonight) as had no chance to do that yesterday (although did get some food shopping gone and have had heavy boring bulky household basics delivered via on-line grocery order ie washing powder, loo rolls, tins of toms, demineralised ironing wate, cleaning materials, bathroom toiletries, etc etc which still all putting away). As for rest, lovely cleaner getting increasingly intermittent in her attendance so I cleaned the public downstairs rooms on Wednesday morning and need to do bathroom and bedrooms today once I've finished office work.

Also need to do some baking because dd is having a load of classmates around tomorrow - they are working on a project together - lots of teen girls and boys requiring sustenance!

[Sorry that was all very long and boring]

How are all of you? Have speed-read thread so pls forgive me if I have missed something important!

Hello to Cotswold! Smile Have exactly the same problems as you with regard to decision making and clutter!

So sorry to hear about your guinea pig Purple and how is your new job going?

How is the morning sickness now Cag? (Well done for roof emptying btw!) and hurray for comfy sofa! Sorry your ds is suffering with excema. DD has it badly behind knees and sometimes on arms but it has improved significantly since adolescence struck for some unknown reason. Floor has disappeared in boudoir here again too Blush - funny how that happens isn't it? - and that is despite having cleared it before leaving for Easter hol. Harrumph. Back is bad atm (too much digging and pruning) so need to go slowly at it.

Sympathies with out-of-control paperwork Honu it is very very bad here too (can't seem to make decisions about it and am definitely breaking all the rules and touching one piece of paper about 15 times not once!!) Apartment therapy sounds good!!

Afreshstart aw to your ds sitting up but oh no to continuing sleep interruption/deprivation.

Toostressy Good luck with early morning starts!

Hey Celeste good to see you back!

Foxes sympathies re old kitchen that never looks sparkling clean! I have the same problem and a mahoosive crack in the floor.

Can't scroll down any more but enthusiastic waves to Zoo Mermaidsandunicorns Bluepheasant and anyone else I have missed!

Cagliostro · 21/04/2017 10:40

Hey sc :) nice to see you. Sorry about the gynae stuff, hope all goes well. How did the ed psych go? Nausea is still here, I'm only 10 weeks now so got a few more weeks at least I'd say.

Sweepingchange · 21/04/2017 10:53

Still working back through thread instead of cleaning

Zoo meant to say, you can pm me any time you like about relative merits and disadvantages of gps and rabbits. Have had both and love both! On balance though, gps probably better pets for dc on the whole. (Will try and find your thread.) And belated birthday congrats to Zooteen

Well done re hall decoration Purple (our downstairs needs decorating so badly - everything very shabby now)

Foxes congrats on your tiny nephew!

Hello to comeagainforbigfudge welcome back (don't recognise your nn - is it new?? Welcome anyway!)

Hello to Danigrace ndo4000 and waves to Mercuryrising

I was going to make simnel cake too over Easter Bluepheasant but CBA in the end! Made hot cross buns in the end (in new bread machine that someone has given us as moving in present) and they came out so hard and shrivelled we ended up playing petanque with them in the end Grin

Cag many many congrats on 9 wk scan!! Smile ( And what happened to wild bunny?)

Hope house inspection went well Mermaidandunicorns I use washing up liq in hot water, followed by vinegar rinse, followed by scrunched up newspaper (for drying) to clean windows. Print on newspaper adds final shine.

Right, really cannot scroll down any more so hope I haven't missed anyone out and apologies if so!

Sweepingchange · 21/04/2017 10:56

Oh poor you, hang in there Cag [proffers ginger snaps and ginger ale and crackers] Much reassured after meeting ed psych thanks - she seems lovely and perfect for dd - hope she can help her deal with exam stress and general discombobulation caused by being in such a pressured environment.

Sweepingchange · 21/04/2017 10:57

BluePheasant argh - far too many "in the end" s in that paragraph!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/04/2017 11:06

Hello all, just popping in with a list then will have a read of the thread later.

In laws are coming this afternoon Grin. They are lovely but do feel obliged to have it tidy ish.

Ta da:-
DD1 at school and DD2 at preschool
Exercise DVD
Dishwasher on
One load of laundry on and another ready to go on after

To do:-
Put away hotspots as much as poss
Shower
Sit and watch half an hour of Broadchurch

Later:-
Organise and label a load of dance stuff for both DDs for this weekend - could be a long process.

CotswoldStrife · 21/04/2017 11:53

After doing so well the last couple of mornings today has been slow! But it's Fri-yay!

SC I hope the procedure and the treatment go well - do you have a date for them yet? You may want to step away from Google in the meantime ....

I know exactly what you mean about the bottom of the dishwasher door Honu it's a hardly-ever-task for me too (although I did clean the washing machine drawer this week).

We may, if we ever get moving today be off for a farm Easter trail. They do these a few times a year (Easter and Halloween) and are really fun but it does require the wellies and an appreciation for mud.

Better start lunch and catch you all later on!

Ah yay sc pleased the EP was helpful :) bunny was collected by RSPCA just a couple of hours after we phoned them! It really perked up so they weren't concerned. Sooo cute.
