Welcome to the April Flylady thread. We will be posting links every day to the Flylady method of maintaining your home and all posters, lurkers, newbies and returners are welcome - there will be a lot bit of general chat too. Post your ta-da successes and inspire others (or join some of us in the naughty corner on a less-than-stellar day, we all have them!) and bask in the support of the fledglings as we swing into Spring and ease towards Easter (avoiding the dreaded pointy stick of motivation)!

Thanks, she has done it sometimes before but TBH the amount of washing up builds up SO quickly that I don't want her doing loads of pots, sharp knives etc :( silly I know!

Afreshstartplease · 06/04/2017 11:59

How old is she cag?

I let my DC 'wash up' sometimes but I remove all sharp knives and heavy items

Sometimes I do have to rewash things though

Cagliostro · 06/04/2017 12:52

Oh she's 9 so plenty old enough. Blush It's just habit that we let it all build up for DH - I can't stand long enough to wash up due to dizziness so DH does all of it every morning. Once a day isn't really enough though I think, we are so limited on space and the draining board gets full to bursting. Might suggest that DD does the breakfast/lunch stuff (but put veg knife etc aside, she is clumsy)

Afreshstartplease · 06/04/2017 12:54

I think that's a good idea my 9 year old does a pretty good job

foxessocks · 06/04/2017 14:07

Both children still not 100% and I really want to be able to visit my nephew this weekendSad . Dd is still not eating properly although she has been eating a bit of chocolate this afternoon...No proper lunch though just a few hula hoops and a yogurt.

Aa sunny lil zoo keen go see the rabbits so we trail to the nature ramble that along an old disused railway line.stunning views and lots wild bunnies. LovelyGrin2hour walk we pop shops way back fir top up bread n milk and were still home by 10.30(early risers don't do holiday lay ins.sigh)
Snack
Wash on/in dryer
Wash breakfast dishes and clear table
Sweep liv room floor(cheerio scatters)
I was exhausted so sneak in a cheeky half hour nap before lunch
Lunch
Church fir murder mystery.Zoolets has GREAT time!! Git their finger prints taken(only to play at suspects) a laminated pc fir the day card n loads stationary(notebooks etc) they wander ti each table try work out who dunnit they clues.there was a tent in garden with a dummy splattered in ketchup and rolling pin next him!Grina cadet was the killer and our local pco (pete, cafe regular fir a fry up) joked he wasn't up to a chasing arrest and let young hit PC chase her and arrest her/read rights and cuff.then they all git sir car n play sirens. Fun way while away an hour or so fir freeSmile
Then dd2 was pick up to go bowling and lil zoo accompany me yo drop ds at comic club at library

Glorious sunshine here today, warm too.hoping springs spring and we not going back to super chilly for a while!

cag dd2 13 next thurs and like rest zoolets but a liability with breakables so doesn't wash up.she Hoover's stairs fir me if backs play up.lil zoo queen laundry-sirts perfectly into right piles, loads and unloads if asked.she likes polishing too.ds has no cleaning habits, nor desire to help and seriously needs start
I expect them keep floors in rooms clear enough I can get in say night without snap neck and weekly expected sudden clean-timwr set 20mins.anything left on floor gets binned.cruel but efficient.dd2 push to see I would once.she's first upstairs now when timers set(disclaimer if its in bed in process be sorted doesn't count as long us done before leaving the room to do other things(usually follow with snack as the food incentive works here)

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/04/2017 18:07

Sorry for essay!
If course that was hot not hit PC

Cagliostro · 06/04/2017 18:28

Cheers zoo hoovering is something they both enjoy actually so might get firmer with that (normally they just whinge to do it when DH is doing it).

Basically I think they are ready to do more - they are, like me and DH, very messy, but they do like to be helpful and they are pretty good when given something specific to do (it's the general "go and tidy" thing that leads to meltdown because they can't see the wood for the trees). I also figure if they learn more now I won't have to worry as much when Cagletini arrives :o

foxessocks · 06/04/2017 19:10

cag loving cagletini!

Ta das
Sort of cleared kitchen surfaces (some stuff just got moved to utility room and some stuff didn't get moved at all as didn't know what to do with it Confused)
Cooked dinner and tidied up after
Ironing
15 minutes pilates
Sorted some socks
Decluttered two kitchen cupboards (found a few random tins that I can use in dinners next week)
Started tidying up garden toys

Just getting ds to bed and really hoping he might settle better tonight as haven't had an evening to myself all week. Both children seemed to have more of an appetite this evening which is good.

Wow at your 2 hour walk this morning zoo!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/04/2017 19:24

Also love Cagletini Smile.

Hi all, been at work today so had a bit of a post work slump and just doing bathtime now. Did manage to hoover under DD1's bed so that's good. Also hoovered out cat bed and managed to suck a cat toy into Hoover Grin. Luckily DH has just dismantled it and extracted it. Must get on now, back later.

BluePheasant · 06/04/2017 20:45

Glad DC feeling better foxes

Your day sounds lovely zoo zoolets are v lucky Smile

Ticked off grand total of one thing off to my to do list but as the weather turned out nice we got some gardening done instead and DH has brought the BBQ out from garage ready for first BBQ of the year Grin

Ta das

Finished ribbon bunting and hung it up on dresser
Weeded garden
Swept down by shed
DH scrubbed outside steps
1x load of Washing
Cleaned out fridge and removed the iceberg that always forms at the back (really need to remember to do it more often before it gets so huge!)
Ironing
Daily routines
Tidied toys and put away all the Lego as starting to get everywhere and I hate it when bits get lost!
Sorted out DD outgrown clothes for recycling/storage.
Loaded washing machine for morning

To dos

Put ironing away
Order a supply of Next leggings for DD as they're pretty much the only thing she will wear with tops atm (jeans are absolute no no, I've given up!)
Make a plan for tomorrow so we don't waste the sunshine tomorrow trying to decide where to go - we're not decisive people!

CotswoldStrife · 06/04/2017 23:16

Ah, sorry I was a bit AWOL today probably spent too much time reading other threads dashing around in an unco-ordinated manner trying to mail cards and presents around. Still got one to do. Anyone else would have just piled them up and made one trip but no, gotta make it a bigger job ...

Dd2 plod thru some holiday homework (pointy stuck aimed at her to keep going as her birthdays next Thur, then easter so if doesn't get a wriggle on it we will end up with classic last minute scribble/screaming match etc)
Lil zoo and ds permitted onto Minecraft as it's in Hus room and she's sprawled out in living room(taking over all large 3seat sofa) and if they play she's ridiculously easily distracted (as it is keeps looking out at sunny day and ask if we are going out later)

Go attempt tidy in here around her and wash floor could end in tragedy wish me luck!!

PurpleDaisies · 07/04/2017 10:05

I've got an unexpected day off after yet another car accident. An elderly man drove into me at a junction and my lovely new car is all smashed in. I thought I'd feel awful today but I'm not really too stiff at all so I'm catching up on house work. So far I've properly swept the kitchen floor (which was horrible), cleaned all the work tops, put a wash on, taken delivery of a hire car, and spoken to far too many insurance people.

I'm going to clean the bathroom and have a nice long bath. I was going to pop out for a nice coffee but wondering if that's a good idea since I told work last night I wouldn't be in.

To do...
Order a few internet bits
Post a parcel
Clean bathroom
Pluck eyebrows and sort out legs(!)
Catch up with thread and where we're supposed to be with flylady

Afreshstartplease · 07/04/2017 10:08

Dd also gifted me a milk flood in the kitchen this morning so now I definitely need to mop
