Are you are any of the following? Can you be described as a clutterbug? Are you a hoarder, in a mess, untidy, disorganised, lazy with housework that has lead to something that you now feel unable to deal with. If you are ill and not coping with the housework. If you are emotionally attached to items for whatever reason. If you cannot just ask someone in for a cuppa at a moments notice or dread the meter reader asking for access.

Are you nodding whilst reading any of these words? If you have a combination of any or all of these things or something completely different, please join us. No one here will judge you. We have something in common and we have a common goal. We share our ideas and we share our disappointments no matter how big and our celebrations no matter how small. We cheer one another along and drag the drowners from the depths of despair.

Join us; we don't bite :) Welcome to thread number 3.

Welcome Pink, things sound awfully stressful atm, hope that improves soon.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/08/2017 15:50

Hello folks. I used to post on the first thread under a different name. Glad to see the community is still going strong.

I'm still plodding on. Dismantled some firniture this week that needs to be taken away.

I've bought lots of shelving units recently, and I'm slowly getting them built so we can put things away properly. It's making a difference, slowly but surely.

FlyingJellyfishintheAttic · 02/08/2017 16:25

Things are still slow solo as we have so little free time. Marriage has been rocky as we don't have time together so we are prioritising being together, having family time.

I do an hour decluttering a day if I am off whist DD is asleep. Me and DH make a weekly timetable so we can have a good balance of work and play.

Loads ready to take to charity and skip though. But DH has car so he needs to take it on his day off.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 03/08/2017 12:22

I replaced my son's bed this week. I put the dismantled one in the front garden ready to ring the council about, and the local scrap man had ferreted it onto his van within an hour. Small result!

It's sunny but blowing a gale up here today, so I've got a line full of laundry trying to escape while it dries. I've another load just about ready to go out too. For some reason having a line full of laundry gives me purpose with the cleaning, it's like a visible proof that I can domestic.

I'm about to make a fresh coffee and head up to make a dent on the horrendousness that is my room. It's the dumping ground. Today I'm aiming to spend 2 hours on the massive mountain of dumped clothes that counts as the family wardrobe. It's horrendous, but I can do this.

Good luck to you all today.

SingaporeSlander · 03/08/2017 13:54

Sounds like you've had a productive day already Incy, it's prompting me to get going again.

I've found the 30 mins set a timer tactic very useful. Means I get somewhere every day.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 03/08/2017 14:13

We're an autistism house, the timer is an old friend to us.

My problem is that I have so few days where I can do this. My head is a messy beast but it is in charge unfortunately.

SingaporeSlander · 03/08/2017 14:57

You can do it! Keep going (so that it'll encourage me Wink)

IncyWincyGrownUp · 03/08/2017 15:54

I've stopped for a drink. I'm feeling overwhelmed. In need to stay off the Argos website when I'm like this or I order furniture that Inhave no space to construct.

I dislike the logic circuits I have.

FlyingJellyfishintheAttic · 03/08/2017 15:57

All the clutter in the attic is almost sorted. Bought lots of large boxes to store the things we want and all the clutter for charity/ skip/ bin is in the middle. Can't access the rest of things to go through at the moment but it's only three more boxes.

As me and DH working opposite eachother over the enxt few days there isn't any time anyway. We have a couple of days off together after so one will be taking the kids out and one will be disposing/ donating all the clutter.

So this time next week attic decluttering will be done ready for DH to continue conversion. Hopefully with all the space freed up the rest of the house will quickly follow.

FlyingJellyfishintheAttic · 03/08/2017 15:58

One day out with kids as a family and one day with both of us doing clutter whilst DD in nursery.

Babieseverywhere · 03/08/2017 17:13

Wow, attic is really on the way...Fantastic :)

IncyWincyGrownUp · 03/08/2017 19:57

Sold a bed today, so that's one less box in the house.

Tomorrow I'm putting up the bookcases I ordered months ago and then that will be all the boxes done.

FlyingJellyfishintheAttic · 03/08/2017 22:04

I know Babies I can't wait Smile. The house and clutter has taken over our lives and it's a relief now progress is being seen.

Solo · 03/08/2017 23:03

Wow! You are all flying! Really well done Thanks :)

I am off for a couple of weeks now and I'm planning to do loads and reward Dd and myself with odd days out. That's the plan anyway.

Good plan Solo and enjoy this days out :)

One of my DC has gone down with tonsillitis poor chick, so we are stuck in the house for the next few data until the antibiotics kick in :(

Going to make the best of it by doing some basic cleaning and some crafts tomorrow. We have some beach stones and we are going to paint them and vanish them abd use them as hide and seek stones to play with in our small garden or when we go camping :)

I might see if I can start on the pile in our room tomorrow. It has to go at some point !

Betsy86 · 04/08/2017 08:08

Can i join u pretty please :) im a terrible clutter bag. People that come in are like what your house is fine...... I have lots hidden in the storage boxes and shelving downstairs haha. Its upstairs thats terrible my bedroom is the dumping ground for everything and DD room is small but super crammed with stuff. Im really bad at letting go of things i have a sort out then will bag stuff up 'to go' and it will sit in the corner of my room for weeks and gradually il just filter it back into the house ha.
I know i should just take it to charity shop etc but i think oooh i could make money for the xmas fund with that then never get round to it....

I did have 2 huge bags of DD outgrown clothes i walked past everyday for weeks but i managed to sell those this week £28 yippee. I got rid of a cd player doesnt work properly and it was DD birthday so iv done a tip run with all the extra party rubbish etc. bin day is monday and iv got a nice empty bin outside now so need to use the next couple days to hit upstairs :)
Any tips on letting go of things? She is sen and alot of her toys are immacualte as never really wanted to play with them. Its only recently taken some notice so i tend to hold onto everything hoping i can sell it or use it but some bits need to go. Id like to make some money back off them if possible for the xmas tin she likes the bush baby tree its £50 so told myself whatever i sell can pay for that from santa as abit of inspiration to declutter but im just not sure where to sell toys and soft toys hmmmm lol...... Xx

Solo · 04/08/2017 08:47

Hi Betsy :) welcome Thanks.
I don't have a lot of time right now but, my sil sells stuff successfully on facebook's Facebay. Clothes need to be photographed on hangers so I'm told but, there are many things that sell well on there so have a look.
As for letting things go? I'm not best placed to answer that as I'm a good example of can't let anything go! But there are other posters on here that are great at ideas and inspiration.

Good luck and keep posting.

Thanku :) yes i need to start being more ruthless on the toys/soft toys. I have been alot better than i used to be atleast!! Im not on any social media so probably doesnt help my declutter but i have managed to clear a few bits past couple of weeks atleast. Just to tackle the 'sentimental' toys now and heaps of unorganised paperwork now lol. Have a good day xx

IncyWincyGrownUp · 04/08/2017 18:20

You'll get there Betsy, it gets easier once you get going.

I stalled today, I've got a rather jiggly pain in the base of my neck that's giving me headache and shoulder pain too.

I've just put the shopping delivery away, so I'm away to see if I can put a solid hour in in my room. Would be nice to be able to change the bedding too if I get chance.

Babieseverywhere · 06/08/2017 19:46

Welcome Betsy. I have decide to donate rather than sell stuff...it slows me down too much !

itsy Hope you start to feel better soon.

Betsy86 · 06/08/2017 21:15

Yes i think thats what i need to do as i just pile it up in bags to sell and never get round to it. Well i did sell 2 big bags of DDs clothes the other day..... Sorted her wardrobe out yesterday though and made a whole new bag of stuff that needs to go 😫😭 might try to sell it to the same person who tool last lot if a no then donate. Im just slowing myself down as set myself a challenge to sell bits and use money for xmas toy lol.
I have realised just how much i buy her in clothes sales etc and realised need to cut right down.
Hows everyones day been?xx

Betsy86 · 06/08/2017 21:16

Hope your neck pains eased off xxx

Babieseverywhere · 06/08/2017 21:31

I get the piles. I had a wall full of piles 'to sell' and when my DH said just chuck it....I cried and did it and now I feel that much better :)

Going to finish little girls clothes tomorrow...wish me luck :)

Betsy86 · 06/08/2017 22:08

Good luck xxx it is hard getting rid isnt it i dont feel attatched to it i just think oh darn that cost me xyz amd think il try make something back as barely used. Then the piles escalate. Must be refreshing like younsaid once its gone though! I was relieved getting rid of the bags the oher day although replaced them with more already also got a bag of my own stuff to go. But hey atleast iv started decluttering the wardrobes lolx

Babieseverywhere · 06/08/2017 22:32

Any step in the right direction is a good step. Sounds like you are doing well Betsy
