Are you are any of the following? Can you be described as a clutterbug? Are you a hoarder, in a mess, untidy, disorganised, lazy with housework that has lead to something that you now feel unable to deal with. If you are ill and not coping with the housework. If you are emotionally attached to items for whatever reason. If you cannot just ask someone in for a cuppa at a moments notice or dread the meter reader asking for access.

Are you nodding whilst reading any of these words? If you have a combination of any or all of these things or something completely different, please join us. No one here will judge you. We have something in common and we have a common goal. We share our ideas and we share our disappointments no matter how big and our celebrations no matter how small. We cheer one another along and drag the drowners from the depths of despair.

Join us; we don't bite :) Welcome to thread number 3.

:)
My porch is quite big and gets packed with 'stuff' which is ridiculous!

OP posts:
Nettleskeins · 05/02/2019 17:20

two bin bags out today,
recycling
swept floor in kitchen
two loads of washing, and dried
tidied desk
tidied scarves

Hmm
Solo · 10/02/2019 17:35

Laundry done and dry/ing. Sorted through my tinned foods and I have thinned it down a lot over the last year by not buying stuff not needed. Yay!
Got to go and wash up now and it's another big job!

I've been working on Dd's costume.

Ive been trying to organise my passport renewal and Im stumped by the digital photo bit (rubbish at technical things) so I may actually put the christmas decs away. It seems a lot easier than uploading a jpeg.Hmm

a cake is in the oven and I'm trying not to panick.

What costume are you making solo for WBD?

Nettleskeins · 11/02/2019 20:40

I've managed to renew my passport (EU) and I'm thrilled. Admin sometimes defeats me. dd helped by taking a digital photo for me.

just cooked a delicious supper but the kitchen has suffered, going to go and try and tidy everything properly now. slightly revived by teatime nap.

Solo · 12/02/2019 22:26

Well done re the passport! :) It's not easy, is it?!
I'm doing a Bellatrix Lestrange costume! It's cost me a small fortune to get the things I need to put it together, but, it will hopefully look very good and the charity shops have been topped up with my funds I'm making a leather corset, altering a lace blouse, adjusting a dress into looking like a skirt and lots beside! I think I'm getting more out of it than she will.

I used to make costumes for dd and she never showed much interest in my efforts at the time or tried to imitate me or make her own costumes, or even sew presents for people/dolls/society, but now she is doing Textiles A level!!! She wears monocrhome outfits herself, but the creativity came out somewhere along the way, in her coursework...at school...
It is important to do things for yourself, I think they like it when we are happy Smile

today's success is that I've ordered some geraniums to be delivered in April for my greenhouse, interesting geraniums. Incentive to clear out the clutter in the greenhouse. I also managed to use up some storecupboard ingredients and make a delicious veggie couscous salad yesterday.

Solo · 13/02/2019 18:54

No, my Dd doesn't really make anything either and it's sad really because so much joy comes out of making things - well, it does for me, anyway. She always likes what I come up with and loved my efforts last year when she went as Astrid in How To Train Your Dragon (not strictly accurate as Astrid is not in the books) but, it was a great costume! I've made a Centurian's uniform and lots of others and I usually get my supplies from charity shops when at all possible.

I'd just like to get my home in order and then I can think about the gardening side so, you are doing great being able to consider your garden Thanks.

How are you all?

OP posts:
Solo · 25/02/2019 19:06

Well, I got a bit busy yesterday. Not got masses done but, it felt good.

things have gone backwards...we have a dog! however, it makes it easier to see what needs to go..the things I trip up over. And it turns out dog hates polyester throws on sofa Hmm much prefers cool cotton surfaces.

Nettleskeins · 25/02/2019 20:34

well done Solo, keep going.
I realised I am allergic to perfumed washing materials, including washing powder. It is even more tempting to just recycle a lot of these textiles away, than be sniffling and sneezing with them in piles around me. I am planning some eco washing powder if I can. I'm also possibly allergic to dustmites, so that is another incentive to start being more ruthless. The camping stuff may have to go. even if it is just to storage.

Nettleskeins · 26/02/2019 17:14

mess really out of control today. discovered that the cat carrier had a moth infested jumper in it, which has put cocoons all over my washing pile because everything is piled up on the utility. I want to just throw everything away now!!! have been boiling clothes all day..

life iwth a puppy is basically the same as life with a toddler, joyful, outdoosrsy but not especially productive!!

Nettleskeins · 26/02/2019 17:20

sorry, that wasn't very positive..Smile

today I unloaded and reloaded the dw
took out the food compost
took out the recycling
washed some old things from the yard which have been there for some time
washed the dishcloths
folded up two washed tablecloths from the line
took puppy to vet for worming, took puppy on another car journey to acclimitzie
swept kitchen floor
threw away some cat food containers which were lurking in thewrong place
swept the garden path at back
blocked fence so dog couldn't escape
found a puppy training class for next Tuesday (fingers crossed)

Solo · 26/02/2019 20:03

Hi Nettle :) A puppy!!! What kind? Moths?!! Yeah, me too!

yes Smile

Solo · 03/03/2019 17:31

I admit to getting nothing done except this blooming costume.

OP posts:

I've tidied the patio rather well, and swept it due to having to be outside at all times (when dog not in his little den) with toilet training dog!

Otherwise there is a lot of muddy towels to wash and a lot of floor mopping. I feel much more motivated knowing that standards can be lowered with dog in house though..strange that.

Solo · 03/03/2019 20:21

:) :) :)

Just remembered that I cleaned the bath, basin, and toilet last week, again. I guess that's something. Laundry up to date and changed bedding and washed that which came off too.

OP posts:
Solo · 09/03/2019 00:26

Progress?

OP posts:
Nettleskeins · 09/03/2019 15:39

I've tidied the living room where the dog's crate is - and washed lots of bedding today.

Made dd do some tidying in her study (which is ds1's bedroom/boxroom)
made ds2 give me his sheets and do the recycling

shook out a lot of mats
did a quick wipe around the kitchen, it is very very chaotic in there atm but just wiping the surfaces steadies my nerves.

put a lot of clean dry washing upstairs.

no, not really any progress, but I'm liking the idea that I'll be out in the garden with the dog/toilet training and can get on with some tasks there over next month whilst dog potters. Things like scrubbing window sills and pressure washing patio and sowing seedlings which are perfect dog companion tasks.

How is the costume going, hope it is nearly finished.

Solo · 09/03/2019 22:36

You DO sound as though you are making progress :) far more than me...
The costume was completed and worn on Thursday; went down a storm, actually - very pleased. Can't post a picture as it would be sooooooooooooo outing.

I've done 3 wash loads today including bedding. Nothing much else though.

Hi,

The dog sounds exciting!

I need to find my passport, I can't find it! I had to buy a new passport just about 6 months ago so I could use it for ID while we were sorting out the new mortgage when we bought our house. Then of course we moved house and now I need it again for ID so I can claim money back for the cost of pre-school. But we just can't find it! This is when a disorganized house is the worst! Of course you think 'why didn't I just put it somewhere completely safe?'.

I think when we were packing we just got stressed near the end and just filled up as many boxes as we could with everything without being too organised. And you think to yourself, I'll organise it again when we unpack. But honestly some boxes haven't been unpacked yet and I haven't really decided what goes in each cupboard yet. I am a procrastinator.

I have tidied up in dd's room this afternoon. It's not completely done, I just can never stick it out until it's done! Everything always seems half done.

I am hoping this passport is in a box, and over the next week or so I will manage to find it!

Are you having terrible gale force wind?
