Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

ndo, I refuse to iron. DH does his shirts and anything else he wants ironing. Nothing I wear needs ironing. Don't iron DDs' clothes although sometimes DH does.

foxes may have some tips, she seems to iron Grin.

**
Here is the daily summary for Friday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

Baby-step no 24 - swish and swipe your bathroom

We are in Zone 4 this week: the master bedroom and en-suite if applicable

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here

Mission:-
Today is the last day in the Master Bedroom. Take 15 minutes to declutter your dresser. Get the things off the top of your dresser that you have placed there that you were going to put away later. Later is now. Take the time to take care of this; it really makes a great difference.

The daily focus for Friday is: declutter your handbag and car/date night

reminders

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission: www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Thanks Fledglings 💐

SC wow I can't believe it's been a year already.

Sweepingchange · 24/03/2017 05:45

I know Cag; it's gone so quickly and seems like yesterday. Hope you can take it a bit steady today x

Just listening to news and can't believe the London attacker was 52 yrs old; you can (sort of) understand someone in their late teens and early twenties becoming radicalised and carried away with an utterly false and warped idea of some sort of "holy" cause etc; liking the idea of infamy and the ability to destroy/wield power through violence; but a 52 yr old beggars belief Sad Angry. It's just so wrong that one bloke can cause so much destruction. Those poor families.

Toostressy thanks - hope your evening got better! I managed not to throttle DD and dh last night (partic dh) and explained relatively calmly that if this project is going to work, then we are all going to have to chip in. I know dh is v pressured at work but surely that doesn't preclude you from putting your plate in DW and wiping down the odd kitchen surface. He is away all the time; it's going to be interesting now boot is on other foot!

Ndo is it wrong to say I quite like the sound of an arts and crafts bomb?Smile

Right thoroughly sorted kitchen last night, time to sort downstairs and first floor now and change all bed sheets this morning, now I've woken up.

Have a productive day everyone and a good weekend if I don't get back on here! Tally-hoooo!

Afreshstartplease · 24/03/2017 06:42

I am going to start packing. But where do I start! Shock There is just so much of everything everywhere!

foxessocks · 24/03/2017 06:49

Hello everyone! Haven't quite caught up on the thread sorry...Someone mentioned ironing and flylady though?! I tend to add it onto the home bleugh list and usually get a bit done when dh is doing bathtime - I get bored of it very quickly so only ever do short bursts! (Consequently my ironing pile never really goes down !)

Afreshstartplease · 24/03/2017 06:51

foxes Do you iron most things?

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/03/2017 06:56

afreshpack clothes won't need, ornaments and stuff rarely use.
DONT pack kettle til heading offWink
Label boxes by room the going to live in,easier when unloading other end

I really wish I could skip to weekend-me n lil zoo having snuggles and I am exhausted n don't want get up!

foxessocks · 24/03/2017 07:01

I don't iron dh work wear (he doesn't wear suits ), baby's clothes , jeans or some other bits that come out looking fine without ironing. I certainly don't iron any pants or socks (like my mil does Shock!) . I try to hang things up really neatly after washing to minimise ironing so it's never too bad but I don't have a tumble dryer and I don't always manage to get the washing hung up immediately so stuff does need ironing really.

Afreshstartplease · 24/03/2017 07:04

How do you function without a tumble dryer Shock

As if I'd pack the kettle zoo!

I might start going through some crap cupboards/drawers and pack what we need and bin what we don't

So far today

Dryer on
Steriliser on

Sweepingchange · 24/03/2017 07:10

Bloomin 'eck ....teenagers eh .... DD is paying 1 euro to go to school in "mufti" today for Lent (hardly a sacrifice as she loves shedding the uniform!) She's just spent 50 mins deciding what to wear and the "boudoir" is destroyed ...Again. Still, at least didn't have to make sandwiches as they are having a bread and apple lunch (giving money they saved to charity) and she of course was too interested in trying on outfits to eat the hearty breakfast on offer. Hope she doesn't faint ... Heigh ho... You can take a horse to water etc ....

foxessocks · 24/03/2017 07:18

To do
Meal plan / shopping list
Declutter bag car and purse
Final sort out in bedroom including dusting
Daily routine

I don't know if I'm totally mad but I'm going to attempt going to a real supermarket on Monday and do my weekly shop instead of doing it online today and getting it delivered on Monday. I want to try a cheaper supermarket to save some money. I'm going to take the baby with me but dd will be at nursery (I'm not attempting it with two children!) . Just hope I can get it all done before dd needs picking up.

mermaidsandunicorns · 24/03/2017 07:22

Afreshstartplease - I started with cds books dvds etc as I knew I wouldn't be having a DVD marathon anytime soon
Cleared kitchen cupboards out down to the minimum
Sorted through clothes and toys and chucked/donated masses

foxessocks · 24/03/2017 07:23

afresh we've never had a tumble dryer so I guess you don't miss what you've never had! We do have space for one now but we manage ok without. I have two dryers indoors and then soon as the weather is nice it goes outside. I imagine if I did get one I would wonder how I managed without!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 07:29

Aaaagg no milk for coffee this morning. Not a good start BrewBrewBrewBrewAngry!

OP posts:
ndo4000 · 24/03/2017 07:48

Happy Friday everyone!

Afresh I've never had a dryer either, so I have to live with washing hung up all over the place! Bring on the sun when it can all go outside!!! It can sometimes need a quick iron to soften it up.

No idea how much I will get done today, but will get those charity bag out if nothing else!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 07:51

Ahh yes if no tumble drier you do probably need to iron more. Managed to ration a drop of milk for coffee so feeling much happier Smile.

To do:-
School run
Excercise DVD
General house rescue so DH can do home bleugh tomorrow

Full shop definitely worth a go foxes.

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 24/03/2017 07:56

The thought of no dryer fills me with dread!

We still have clothes hung up around the house as certain things can't be tumbled! The house would disappear though if I had to dry it all that way

BluePheasant · 24/03/2017 08:16

Morning all!

Big flop yesterday after work. Stuck a small load of washing in and that was all I could be bothered to do!

No tumble dryer here either and I iron most of it. I am even know to iron tea towels as then they fold up nicer Blush But have never minded ironing that much especially since we had DD and it became a way to escape for 20mins break from being a walking pair of boobs Grin Washing gets dried on electric airer, definitely recommend them as means it's not all over the radiators all the time.

Hope you have a better day today Cag Brew

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/03/2017 09:25

afresh I too would drown under the sea washing without a dryer!!
sc sounds like another fun start at yours-dd2 seems to moan, meltdown or wind up siblings.I spend my life in a tin hat clearing up!
cag hope things improve
foxes good luck with the shopping-just the baby I sure you be fine (remember your list tho as in RL I am soo tempted.....)
blue ARF at ironing to escape walking boobGrin
too stressy glad you had squeeze milk for that coffee!!

mermaidsandunicorns · 24/03/2017 09:27

I'm back to work today so trying to do more to get ahead

Have managed to hoover round
Dishwasher on
Laundry on
General tidy up
Ds1's packed lunch bag which was growing new life forms has been sanitised completely

To do

Iron
Ring passport office
Food shop

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 10:35

Had unproductive morning before school run as got sucked into faffing on Mumsnet. Have given myself a talking to though and am back in the game Smile. DD2 at preschool this morning so must make the most of this time.

Ta da:-
Aldi shop
Exercise video

OP posts:
foxessocks · 24/03/2017 10:45

zoo definitely making a list and am allowing one "treat" item off list only (I do this when shopping online as well but hopefully don't get too distracted by all the chocolate in the shop!). I'm also hoping ds will sit in the trolley as he is a bit wobbly still but he won't tolerate lying down so bit tricky !

I've done the daily routine but it was stressful as ds has been crying and whinging all morning Sad he is finally asleep so going to do my meal plan and shopping list as I know I won't bother over the weekend and then it'll be a mad panic on Monday.

Dh has sent me a picture of his huge fry up that he had at work this morning AngryEnvy am even more jealous that he got to eat breakfast in peace with no small children hanging off him. I'm having one of those days today where I very much want to bugger off by myself and do something other than looking after small children!! Then I feel guilty for thinking that Sad

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 10:49

foxes do NOT feel guilty! It is absolutely normal Smile. My mood is so much better in general when I get time to myself (of course that's harder with tiny children, I remember it well!).

OP posts:
CotswoldStrife · 24/03/2017 10:52

Ugh, just sliding in to the naughty corner. Not a smooth running morning here, but still time to turn it around by making a nice cup of coffee!

I'll catch up on the thread later, I'm still OK to do April btw
