Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

Freudian slip there! Had meant to put a morning to myself but frankly with time on my own even if I am am studying / sorting the house out the afternoon will be to myself as well. Should probably force myself to do an exercise video too at some point.

I am alive!

My internet broke. It was very upsetting but is now fixed.

I'd like to say I have a sparkling house due to lack of internet. But that would be a lie Brew

Cagliostro · 22/03/2017 14:20

Welcome back!

Glad you enjoyed your day off stressy why not pre empty old handbag breaking an donate to charity and you will then be in need of a nice new one Wink
Oh, my DD 3 years 9months. She is sometimes good at entertaining herself but is a sociable little thing by nature and really prefers playing with me if it's just us two at home. I try to keep the balance but sometimes wish she could give me a bit longer to get at least one thing done! This would have been one of the advantages of having a second baby fairly close in age as they could entertain each other but we had way too much going on with work and things to contemplate number 2. Planning to start trying again later in the year, I'm starting to feel the clock ticking!

Hope your headache got better foxes

Vets sound lovely zoo I would be tempted to switch too. Hope had a nice evening with littlezoo back home Smile

Have confirmed today will be increasing my hours, same days just longer hours. Hope I'm making the right choice ConfusedSad we mange fine with the money we earn atm so it's not like I have to do it but we do need to move in the next year or two and every bit helps!

Ta das

Daily routines all done
Sorted out my CC and transfered some funds
Made a start on food shop
Tidied DDs room

To dos

Ironing
Load washing machine
Wardrobe daily mission - definitely some stuff there that can go to charity shop!

foxessocks · 22/03/2017 20:52

Thanks everyone, my headache did indeed clear up quite quickly and we had a nice day at IKEA! Didn't get much flying done though but hey. Dh usually works in London but thankfully wasn't there today but it still has me a little shaken up and obviously heart goes out to everyone affected. Hope everyone ok.

Ta das
Dinner cooked and all tidied up
20 minutes exercise dvd
Hoovered downstairs
Daily routine all done

Got a lovely new throw for the sofa in IKEA today and it has made my living room look lovely and cosy. Dh doesn't get this at all he has asked me what the point of it is! Well it looks nice and it's soft Smile that's it!

foxessocks · 22/03/2017 20:53

I did nothing decluttering or detail cleaning in master bedroom again...Try again tomorrow?!

foxessocks · 22/03/2017 20:54

Day off sounds great toostressy

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/03/2017 21:05

We are thankfully nowhere near London but also feel a little shaken up. My parents are from Northern Ireland (live in England now) and I grew up hearing regular news like this but you get used to not hearing it. Hope everyone is ok.

Just doing tidy up after tea, back on in a bit.

OP posts:
ndo4000 · 22/03/2017 21:17

Stressy a day off sounds like bliss.... I am praying for one of those on Sunday!

Ta das for me today:
Work till midday
Hour at gym
Cleaned most of bathroom (got bored half way through)
Decluttered little box of shit things in my cupboard

To do:
Make packed lunches for tomorrow
Should probably do some ironing... urgh.

BluePheasant · 22/03/2017 21:26

Also not near London, but I admit my heart did a little flip when heard the news on radio. It's chilling and so tragic. Yes absolutely stressy, sadly Northern Ireland troubles remind us that things like this aren't really anything new Sad

foxes cushions and throws are a complete mystery to men. I think I've started to buy them just to wind DH up GrinWink

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/03/2017 22:11

Don't think I phrased that very well. Meant to say that although I grew up hearing news like that and was used to it, I then got used to relaxing a bit and not hearing such news. Bit of a shock to hear it again today so close to home. foxes, Grin at cushions and throws and very impressed with nice day at IKEA! BluePheasant, my DD has just turned 4 and is at times very challenging and at other times the most lovely thing, often in the same day! Hard decision re work hours - is so hard to know what to do for the best but it sounds as if you have sensible reasons. My bag is already a bit broken so not able to donate to charity but may see how I feel after payday Grin.

ndo, yes, fingers crossed for day off for you for Sunday Smile.

Well, for a bit of light relief (hope that doesn't sound too insensitive), I am about to embark in a major declutter which will either be inspired or a disaster. DD2 went to fetch a pull up to poo in today (and then did poo in it) and I decided enough was enough. Asked her if she wanted the fairies to visit and take her pull ups and she said yes! So DD1 has written the fairies a letter (not entirely sure she still believes in such things but I know she still wants to believe Smile) and I have said the fairies will come in the night and take them. After Xmas disaster of waking DD1 up when delivering her Santa presents this will be done very quietly and in the early hours of the morning possibly. Possibly at the same time as changing a wet bed. Aaaagggh! Will see what happens.

Big wing flaps to all. Links next...

The daily summary for Thursday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

Baby-step no 23 - afternoon/get home from work routine
This was a bit of a breakthrough for me and of course you can adapt it to your own circumstances.

We are in Zone 4 this week: the master bedroom and en-suite if applicable

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here

Mission:-
This week, we have been tackling clutter in our bedrooms. So, today we are going to clean off the nightstands! Get the tissues, cups and stuff that has piled up, toss and put away. Then grab a feather duster or dust rag and dust the surface. Place a pretty candle or picture there. Something that is new to that spot that you love to see.
Waking up and not seeing a pile of things on the nightstand and a pile of clothes will make your morning a little brighter!

The daily focus for Thursday is: errand day

reminders

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission: www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Happy flying.

Knew what you meant stressy Smile Big yes to being challenging to lovely in the same day, often in same hour! It's like they know just how far to push it and then all is forgiven when they do something heartmeltingly sweet! Good luck with the pull up fairies! Grin

Feeling chuffed with myself tonight. Did today's mission and also did the top shelf as well. Have filled two carrier bags of things from the wardrobe for charity shop, and a few bits that were only fit for the bin. Have actually created some space for a change, all thanks to this thread Grin

Night all!

Cagliostro · 22/03/2017 23:37

I'd had no idea until I logged into Facebook this evening. Awful :(

Nothing achieved today just achy and frustrated with it. Currenrly flaking out in the naughty corner with a pack of Magnum Double Raspberry (trust me)

Afreshstartplease · 23/03/2017 06:59

Morning all

Nowhere near London but the news is worrying. Sad to see another person died taking the total to 5. I am I right in thinking yesterday they were showing a man on the news saying he was the terrorist and actually he wasn't, he's in prison! How stupid. Surely not that hard to check something like that!

Anyway

I really need to do something with the state of the house today. I'm considering packing some things we don't use much as moving in near future. How far in advance do people generally pack?

mermaidsandunicorns · 23/03/2017 09:16

Morning x

Afreshstartplease - it took me about two months to fully pack but I did chuck loads out

Only going to do basics today but will try and do a bit upstairs. This is my hotspot as I tend to ignore it most

Afreshstartplease · 23/03/2017 09:25

Thankyou mermaids I'm hoping I can get rid of some stuff too. Also hoping it'll be about two months til we are moved so I might make a start!

So far I've done the school run, everyone is fed and dressed. Washer and dryer are on.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/03/2017 10:38

I've had a morning off - meeting DH with the Caglets shortly so he can go to work, he's taken them to their clubs this morning - and I've done NOTHING with it :( feeling super sick and just want to sleep Angry

Definitely a wing flop day here! :o

Sweepingchange · 23/03/2017 13:38

Hi, hope everyone ok.

Just popping in briefly to say "hello" - still shuttling back and forth to the country - everything disorganised and out of control!

Awful, awful about London attack Sad. I actually woke up with a feeling of consternation yesterday as it was exactly one year since the bombings here. (DD's school held two minute silence.) Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the news. Everyone seems very tense here again. I drove dd to school today as I didn't feel happy with her going on the metro (although the security is very visible and very good - hasn't really "stood down" since last year - still on high alert).

Back to country tomorrow again (visitors coming to see it for first time) for a long weekend (teaching day on Mon). I've only been back in town a short time (and dh has only had to look after dd for 2 nights and one morning before school but between them they have managed to utterly destroy the house, particularly the kitchen and play/tv room. The latter has sweet wrappers, papers, cables, mugs, shoes, socks and glasses strewn all over it. The kitchen is horrific - stacks of washing up (we have a dw) - frying pans congealed with fat - sea salt and streaks of olive oil and cut up tomato and watercress across all the surfaces and the stove and sticking to the bin lid (dh had made steak sandwiches), bin overflowing, sink revolting, fridge a mess etc etc. I am thoroughly pissed off about it tbh as only have from end-of-school-time to sort it all out tonight (have loads of office work to catch up on atm). Especially as
dd was late to school for two days running too apparently [anger]

Still, hardly appropriate to whinge atm when there are so many worse things going on in the world ... .

Hope everyone ok. Sorry, no time to catch up properly with thread but just wanted to say:

Celeste lovely to have you back!

Sorry you are feeling so rough Cag Sad

Afreshstart yes they say eight weeks for packing (alhough this place would take me 8 months I think!!). Can you start on the pictures, books, photos and ornaments - ie stuff that isn't absolutely necessary to life? You've probably already seen this but in case not, have a look here.

Zoo great that LilZoo had a good time on her trip and is back home safely!

Hope the fairies cooperate Toostressy Wink

Bluepheasant congrats on wardrobe declutter!

Big waves to everyone else I have missed such as Honu Blue Knitting whoknows Cotswold Ndo Foxes Mermaids and everyone else!!

Back tomorrow morning, then off again! Toodle-pip in the meantime!

Sweepingchange · 23/03/2017 13:41

I mean back on this thread tomorrow morning - sorry - confusing myself now!

Will meet myself coming back one of these days Confused Grin

Sweepingchange · 23/03/2017 14:53

Oh lord, another attempted attack in Antwerp this morning apparently.

Keep safe everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/03/2017 20:06

Hello all, been at work all day and got home in particularly grumpy mood after work. Both DDs asleep now so just having 5 mins on here then will get on.

Ta da:
Did some online form filling
That's it!

To do:
Tea
Evening routine
Ask DH about scanning a document
Telly.

SC, lovely to hear from you again. I think you are entirely right to be annoyed at the state of the house. Cag, I think we all waste time sometimes frequently and it sounds as if you are really not feeling well so perfectly understandable Flowers.

zoo, great that lil zoo had a good time - probably almost inevitable that they would come back ill afterwards!

Afresh, I would definitely start packing now, then it will be less of a stash and dash. Hello to BluePheasant Smile.

Big wing flaps to everyone else.

ndo4000 · 23/03/2017 20:45

Evening all. Feeling the energy dissipate as the week comes to an end, but have tried to keep up with the decluttering in my room. Managed to fill a bag of things for the bin and a bag for charity. And all out of a tiny cupboard! I have managed to keep much of my room clutter free too!

The rest of the house looks like an arts & craft bomb has gone off all over it however!!!!

I have also tried to get a wash load on each day, but now I have got a tower of bloody ironing to wade through! I haven't noticed that chore on the flylady's website?

Anyway. Thank god tomorrow is Friday!
