Fledglings marching into spring - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

Ps toostressy don't feel guilty, I spend so much time faffing around on the internet and then wishing I'd done something more worthwhile but sometimes my brain just needs to zone out a little bit!

Afreshstartplease · 24/03/2017 10:59

foxes I had one of those days yesterday, iys not often I feel touched out but by time I did school pick up I was ready to explode. I didn't. But I was in a bad mood and went bed early!

I was supposed to go to the shops after morning school run but forgot my purse so have to go later instead

Inspired by toostressy giving herself a good talking to I feel I need get upstop sift thru MN and get a wriggle in it. I hate start weekend in back foot if built up chores as eats into time I could be spending with zoolets

ndo4000 · 24/03/2017 12:57

Foxes don't feel guilty! Being a parent is HARD! There are no tea breaks and you are always 'on duty' 24/7. We all need a little time to ourselves to recharge (& have a massive breakfast!).

Dropped off bags at charity shop as planned and now sitting in dentist waiting room waiting for hygienist Confused.

To do:
Erm.... everything?

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/03/2017 13:22

Pop shop top up bread/milk/bananas
Relocate hall floor from sea coats/shoes etc

My lunch and cats(he got habit a snifter of lunch as we discovered he hates kibble.atticus must've been a kibble muncher extrodinaire as the double bowl was decimated at least once a day(he was a porker )and we assumed they were sharing it!!

More washing (loads of)
Do something in my room

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 13:53

Well so far DD2 will not poo in the toilet. Why is toilet training so bloody difficult Angry?

Otherwise:
Ta da:
Sent 2 emails to try to set up some freelance work
Laundry in progress
Dishwasher on
Picked up DD2

To do:-
Decluttering
General tidy up upstairs
After school we are going to the toy shop for DDs to chose a toy for friends' new baby Smile.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/03/2017 14:17

Sorry you having toilet issues toostressy .lil zoo was nightmare wee on loo...she would drink loads and say didn't want go then send wash hands for snack after pick up dd2 and Tiddle all over the step she use reach sink.every day.I'd put on loo before hand, but no.this went on for weeks
In end HV said sit on lav and tip warm water between her legs with a jug.still took near a week and extra water to get her to do it and was a month before she wouldn't just pee on the step at 4pm.I was pull my hair out frustrated.but a toddlers will of iron is something else......
What I try say is most of us understand and have had at some point a wee or poo refuser, but most adults don't wear nappies for fun(not in circles i move in anyway)so we all get there in the end causing mums to cling edges sanity on the way meanwhileFlowersxx

Neighbours gone out so loud music on to motivate self
Tadas
Liv room tidied,floor wiped
Dining table cleared and wiped
Kitchen bin emptied

Can't avoid my room any longer......

foxessocks · 24/03/2017 15:04

toostressy I sympathise - I hated potty training and my dd was fairly easy I think (don't have anything to compare to but we'll see how ds is when the time comes!) . Lots of my friends kids are poo refusers so think it is very common.

My day has improved! I picked dd up and after lunch we went to the supermarket to get lots of chocolate stuff to make maltesers cake for red nose day! Going to take a photo and post on Facebook so that maltesers donate to comic relief on our behalf. Bought dd a red nose too which she is very proud of. Ds has pretty much stopped whinging at last thank goodness and dh is on his way home. So mood is much improved!

Flying on the other hand has been pretty rubbish...I've done a meal plan and shopping list for Monday and we've made the cake and put the dishwasher on.

Might do my dusting when dh gets home. For the peace and quiet more than anything!

Sweepingchange · 24/03/2017 16:35

What ho fledglings!

Sorry about potty training woes - I remember it as a stressful time too - especially as DD had to be ready for nursery and, er, wasn't. Having all the other little 'uns use potties all around her really helped though!

Glad your day improved Foxes!

Zoo have been meaning to ask how your remaining cat was doing? Our remaining rabbit (despite all advice that they shouldn't be kept alone) is really thriving and eating much more than before (her late companion was a porker too). You always worry about the ones left behind though!

Hope hygienist not too frightening "ND*

Hope you had a better day today too Afreshstart.

Foxes/Afreshstart Even with only one child, I remember feeling really frustrated when DD was little, dh away and the days seemed endless and just wanting to nip out for a coffee or a paper because DD was ill or sleeping or something and not being able to. It's so relentless when they are small and when they are teens and v normal to feel thoroughly fed up so don't feel guilty Smile.

Cotswold bloody good of you to offer to do April. So sorry not to be able to help at moment - still having electrics sorted at "other place" and then will be good to go but it's taking longer than anticipated - as ever!. Away for good part of Easter too. But hope to help thereafter.

Waves to bluepheasant , honu, mermaids and everyone else!

Well today I have cleared paths and tidied up for cleaner so she could actually clean ground floor and stairs and I've done far too much Mumsnetting (finding being rationed to just 1 Mumsnetting day out of 7 quite challenging!! Grin ) but definitely getting more done!!

However, redeemed myself by doing loads of washing, making soup and two ginger cakes and restoring boudoir and bathroom to order!!

DD survived her fast at school today thankfully ( and was interviewed by a Japanese film crew about the significance of Lent!!) and she inhaled two large plates of chicken veg and noodles when she came home!

Packing now and waiting for dh. Have a lovely weekend everyone and hope the spring weather holds where you are!

Sweepingchange · 24/03/2017 16:42

Urh, sorry, emboldening fail there ndo

And sorry, terrible wording below, meant felt frustrated because couldn't go out, not because DD was ill obviously!!

Yes, meant to say re:potty training, if you can invite any other little friends around whonare at same stage, that sometimes works! (It's the completive pooing they enjoy!! Grin )

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 16:58

Just drinking a soothing cup of coffee.

Ta da:-
School run
Tidied and cleaned DD2's Happyland toys I did not play with them of course
Toy for new baby chosen by DD1

Thanks for all potty training support! DD2 is in a right grump - I suspect because she needs to poo and doesn't want to go on the toilet. Ugh. Feel I should carry on and give it a good go now we have started. DD1 was a challenge (wees more than poos) so I am steeled for it Sad.

Trying to get tea on table ASAP for DDs as currently DD1 very understanding and being great big sis but DD2 really trying her patience and I suspect the grumpiness will justifiably reach DD1 soon.

Good luck toostressy!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/03/2017 17:49

Scout is thriving without atticus sc he has stop chew his fur round bum(normally stages of baldness) and now "taught" me he wants wet meat at breakfast and a snifter at lunch is looking super smug not to mention he's pretty much allowed free reign to go where and to what likes spoilt kitty don't cover it!!

Picked up zoolets
Teas on
Zoolets declutrered school bags-this has been great to weave into our routine.no surprise letters unearthed on a Monday,or science projects growing in lunch bags/rotting squashed discarded bananas located under everything else(shudders)

Dd2 cry throat hurts(sigh)her teachers got throat infection n kids are drop like flies apparently(STAY HOME FFS AND STOP SHARING!!)lil zoo about same,so us excused choir tonight.dd2 got pull up big girl pants and go,as Sunday they do cake sale after church to help fund next Fri bowling trip!!

foxes pleased your days picked up.sometimes it's just one little thing going right and boom rest day slots into placeSmile

I must go sort tea.have 40mins before choir starts!good job at end our rd!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/03/2017 21:05

OP posts:
BluePheasant · 24/03/2017 21:07

Hope you had a nice time at choir zoo. Poor DD, horrible sore throats, hope she's not too bad tomorrow.

Sympathies with the potty training toostressy. We didn't have any probs with poos but DD had a huge regression with wetting herself when she around 2 and 10months. She'd had been doing really well for about 4-5 months and from
nowhere it all went out the window, literally just standing there and doing huge wees with no attempt to get to the potty and this was happening 2 or three times every day Sad She would also be sitting on sofa and wee there, I lost count of how many times I have to wash the throws and cushion covers. Was drowning in washing and at my wits end with it. Nearly put her back in pull ups but her key worker at nursery said keep persisting, just a phase and sure enough in a few weeks she suddenly stopped doing it and been fine ever since!
I think it's pretty common to hold in poo, my friends son needed to be left alone for a poo, she always had to hide behind the door while he did it Grin your DD will get there soon I'm sure Smile

Just have to share something with you all Smile. Have been looking for my watch for nearly two weeks. I knew it was lost somewhere in the house but was beginning to fear I had somehow dropped it in a rubbish bag or something. It was a present from DH to replace one that I had lost Blush because the catch was dodgy and I didn't get round to getting it fixed.

Have roped both DDs in to help but no joy finding it. Starting to think I will have to confess to losing it. Just found it... in my jewellery box where it should be Grin . Hadn't even occurred to me I would actually have put it back in the correct place. Big relief Smile.

I bet you were relieved toostressy!!

Just finished work was manic!!
My babysitter always does the dishes which is wonderful as it's lovely to come home to a clean kitchen love her x
Hoping the sun will shine tomorrow so I can wash all the towels and hang them out

Have a good weekend all xxxx

Afreshstartplease · 25/03/2017 07:20

I need a babysitter like that mermaids

I hate washing up. I can't decide if I should get a dish washer when we move. I don't know if it's just making more work for myself cause then surely you have to clean the dishwasher?

Lovely and sunny here this morning!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/03/2017 07:29

Afresh, a dishwasher changed our lives!!

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 25/03/2017 07:32

Did it really? Does it not get stinky?

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/03/2017 07:40

Well you do have to clean it yes but that is a fraction of the work of washing them by hand. I know not everyone likes them though.
