Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

ndo, we call it the home bleugh on here which always makes me feel better Smile. I don't even try to do the hour home bleugh thing. I amuse the DC later on in the week while DH does it and it takes far longer than an hour.

Hello to all. Links next.

Here is the daily summary for Tuesday (also available on the Flyladywebsite at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

We are in Zone 4 this week: the master bedroom and en-suite if applicable

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here

Mission:
Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go!! If you do not love it, send it right out the door!
I need to do this one!

The daily focus for Tuesday is: planning

reminders

Baby-step no 21 - check the ‘Ask Flylady’ section of the website where she answers questions
Probably a good one for newbies.

BluePheasant · 21/03/2017 10:05

So glad I'm not alone with the bedroom dumping ground zoo! When we have visitors any random stuff gets shoved in there so that the rest of the house is tidy and inevitably some of it ends up kicking around for weeks Hmm I really need to sort out the airing cupboard as we could probably fit more in if it was neater!

Morning all. Cag Cake. Afresh, yes, hope you are ok. Hi zoo and foxes. Got loads of lovely present ideas on my thread - I think MN can be lovely as long as you stick to safe topics! Or name change if you think you will be flamed!

Ta da:-
School run
Laundry on
Dishwasher on
Shopping has arrived

To do:/
Put away shopping - DD2 'helping'
Have lots of little admin type emails etc to do - hoping may get a chance to do these later.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 21/03/2017 13:11

Hi all. Mmmm cake. I have no cake :( I did have a chocolate Tracker bar though which is very exciting as they don't go on offer much so hardly ever buy them. Yum.

Caglets have been playing nicely most of the morning while I sorted out resources for today's learning co-op, which we'll leave for after lunch. DD is currently making me cheese on toast. :o

I should've done it all before though, just call me last minute larry!

Oh god TOTAL sympathies on the bedroom dumping ground. Literally can't see any floor in ours right now! It wasn't so bad when I wasn't having pupils round throughout the week, obviously I'm really glad I do have more teaching to do now but it does mean two or three bouts of panic tidying in the living room throughout the week!

It's getting a little better each time though, like we aren't starting from such a messy place if that makes sense. As we are gradually getting properly sorted so more stuff has a home, and as we are slowly getting rid of bits and pieces there's less crap to move around. But also the panic tidying makes it worse too so it's like 3 steps forward 2 steps back. Still a net gain but frustrating!

In fact just this morning I was wondering if we are ever going to make a real difference :( DH has a week off soon, we won't have much actual spare time though because a couple of days are taken up with a running thing he's doing, and then we have a few other places to be, and then we me teaching it's like we don't really get much more time. I was vaguely considering cancelling my lessons for that week just so we have more time to do proper housework but we need every penny we can get. But the mess is stressing me out and it needs tackling properly. I don't know what to dooooo!

Cagliostro · 21/03/2017 13:13

With* me teaching!

DH also has teaching (sports club) but his is at the park so no tidying needed :o

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/03/2017 13:37

Ta da:-
Lunch eaten
Bag of clothes decluttered from DD2's room. She has so many clothes!
Laundry on line - has been hailed on Shock but sun out again now
2 bits of admin done

To do:-
More laundry
More decluttering if time
School run

OP posts:
ndo4000 · 21/03/2017 15:37

Success today! Have managed to declutter my room for another 15 (ish) mins! Got through all of my drawers and didn't get distracted by reading little notes and cards from my DDs or DH.

Other ta das:
Vacuumed my room
Done school run (?Does this count?!)

To do:
Take DD2 swimming
Fold laundry
Make tea
Make packed lunches for tomorrow

It's endless really, isn't it? Confused

foxessocks · 21/03/2017 16:38

It's definitely endless, I do see an improvement since before I joined the thread but sometimes I have days where I think I will never get there! I'm not even sure what I'm aiming for since my house will never be perfect with two little kids (and realistically who has a perfect house anyway?! Haven't we all got more important and more fun things to do than endless housework?! That's what I'm telling myself anyway.)

Anyway. On that note , I haven't done anything other than daily routine stufftoday despite having a relatively short list ... I'm just lounging around doing nothing while dh plays with the kids! I have got dinner in the oven though so that's something.

Really just can't be bothered! Blush

foxessocks · 21/03/2017 16:40

Could someone poke me with the pointy stick please?!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/03/2017 16:42

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/03/2017 18:08

Ta da:-
More of DD2's clothes decluttered - drawers now close we will not mention DD1's room and the rest of DD2's room
Phoned my mum and had lovely, stress free conversation (not usual although she is lovely!) including DDs speaking to her
Dishwasher on
Laundry under control
Evening meal with DDs went well!!!!!!!!
They have played nicely and are watching telly before bathtime

It is all going far too well and I am feeling nervous Confused.

OP posts:
BluePheasant · 21/03/2017 20:35

Great work on the bedroom ndo, need some of your motivation this way please!

Good to hear you had nice meal tonight stressy am sure it's just a phase that will pass soon.

Yes can definitely relate to it feeling endless sometimes, I think reading the flylady website and this thread is helping me to try and approach in small bits that are manageable. However, finding time to even do that is a challenge most days! Bedroom is looking marginally tidier atm but it's all the hidden stuff lurking that is the real chore. I'll just pretend it isn't there for now! Grin

Major flop this afternoon/evening, DD has been really testing today and my mood has just got worse and worse Sad it seems so hard sometimes to keep her happy when I need to get on top of things as have work for rest of the week. Seemed like everything I tried to do today was abandoned because she spilt something or needed help with something. Feel so guilty for being grumpy with her and reminded me of those soppy memes you see on fb about how chores can wait but your child can't etc. Yeah good advice and all that, but the dishes and laundry don't do themselves do they?! Hmm sorry getting a bit ranty there, ahem Blush

Ta das

Two loads of washing hung outside, hailed and rained on. On airer now but at least it was almost dry and the airer won't need to be left on all night like it usually is!

Half done the shower screen (interrupted!)
Ironing (eventually)
Daily mission
Dinner and tomorrow's lunches
Evening routine
Before bed routine

Gave up on the decluttering as ended up feeling too grumpy and tired, early night needed for me I think!

celeste84 · 21/03/2017 21:08

Evening all, I have not stopped today but very little done houswork wise to show for my efforts. Had to look after my niece for a bit this morning then dropped her off then me and ds went in town and got him some new shoes. He's going through shoes like nothing at the mo!

My list today

made beds
washed breakfast dishes
wiped bathroom basin
wiped loo
made tea
washed dishes
zoflora'd kitchen tops
tidied living room

Lol at the bedroom dumping ground. I wish we had a spare room but then we would probably have another child if we had a third room. I do have a dumping ground cupboard which I call my Monica cupboard Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/03/2017 21:23

BluePheasant, how old is your DD? It is so hard to find the right balance I agree. As foxes says, perfection with DC is unachievable! ndo, Star for bedroom decluttering. Cag, hope you are feeling a bit better.

Do you think you have too many shoes? While you are lining up your shoes; pick two pair to give away or throw away. The next time you are looking for the pair of shoes that match your outfit, you will smile because you will be able to find them without getting down on your hands and knees. This will put another smile on your face and keep your hair from getting messed up.

Morning all! I managed some ironing yesterday so thanks for the pointy stick toostressy! Didn't clean the bedroom windows but the clothes pile on the floor was sorted by my dh (was his clothes anyway!)

Just having a coffee in bed as ds still asleep next to me. DD is downstairs with a crumpet watching stick man. Going to get up in a minute just enjoying a few moments peace. Got a headache this morning too so fear it's going to be a long day...

To do
Daily routine
Clean bedroom windows
Dust bedroom furniture
More ironing (so much of it!)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/03/2017 09:09

Morning all,

Warning: might make you jealous Envy. I have a day off today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get them every so often at work if we have enough hours spare (they are allocated to us rather than us requesting them). So DD1 is at school and DD2 is at her childminder who she loves.

I could get loads done in the house but I have to go into the city centre as I need to pick up a train ticket. Really odd as booked on Trainline which I have used lots before but no option to send tickets by post or have electronically, only to pick them up. No problem I thought, bought ticket then it told me my local station didn't have a machine I could collect from so have to go to nearest big station which is city centre.

So I have decided to waste the morning mooching around town as I used to in my pre DC life go into city and get tickets and look round shops. I am going to give those clothes of DD2's to charity while I'm there. Have said to DH I will change sheets and stuff and have tea sorted and we both agreed not unreasonable at all for me to have a morning day to myself Grin.

Ta da:-
Morning routine

To do:-
Bit of online learning on bus
Possibly decluttering of emails if time on bus - they are always such a mess Sad,

Hope your headache clears foxes and that you are ok Afresh?
