Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 10:27

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Thread is awesome stressy please don't worry! I agree it tends to tail off this time of year after the rush of new year resolutions. I find similar in September due to new school year.

Need to get out of bed, pupils coming in half an hour. Really wanted to cancel TBH as I'm so tired and achy but need the money. I'm proud I've not cancelled any lessons so far this year due to health.

So far DH has panic tidied the lounge and I've ordered Tesco (need to add to it later I just booked the slot with the minimum spend) and I've messaged a new fitness studio about a home ed class - they do trapeze etc which DD loves. Caglets are tidying their room as my pupils' little brother will play with them during the lesson. Although said tidying seems to mostly involve throwing their clothes into the hallway.

Also need to phone the doctor to see if they've done my letter yet. Feeling so anxious about it because our housing depends on it (evidence for medical needs). Then taking DD to tap dancing later. Must do spellings with them too as I keep forgetting and it's test day on Thursday Blush (I give them 3p per correct word for tuck money when they go to their club on Thursday evenings). Parent fail!!! I might do a revision list instead of new words.

I have a feeling today won't be very productive.

CotswoldStrife · 07/02/2017 10:19

Morning fledglings! DD is having a hot school lunch today and I can't believe how much easier it made this morning - she doesn't even have a complicated packed lunch but it does make a difference. I even got a load of laundry done pre-school (channelling zoo today with the early morning stuff).

And - brace yourselves for this one, I've stocked the naughty corner ready - I've hung the laundry outside ShockShockShock It might be the only day I can do this, but I've wiped the lines on the rotary dryer and gone for it!

I may have peaked too soon ...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/02/2017 11:39

Ta da:-
Exercise DVD
5 mins kitchen cupboard decluttering
5 mins decluttering under DD1's bed
Laundry in progress
Been to shop

To do

Cook macaroni cheese with DD2 for tea - have a recipie but I am a rubbish cook, hate cooking and am dreading it Blush. Hoping to cook better though using my Tuesdays off to cook proper meals.

Few work emails later
?book extra shift

It's quite sunny here too cotswold here's hoping it stays as such for your laundry!

Sorry there's so many poorly Fledglings and little ones at the moment.

Putting second wash on in a mo, well I'm putting the clothes in but the Caglets are now in charge of adding all the liquid etc :) something else I no longer need to do!

I made lunch but I'll have to pick up something for dinner I think. Phoned the doctors and will go pick up my letter - or rather edit it at least because I am not paying £36 for it if it's not got the right info!

Lesson went well and I'm feeling a little better, a bit more motivated. Nice weather definitely helping (the living room is so dark so every bit of extra sunlight helps). Going to do some project work with the Caglets too.

PurpleDaisies · 07/02/2017 13:30

Hi everyone.

I hadn't realised this had dropped of my active list. I've had a really busy week with one thing and another (lots of nice things but hard to fit it all in) and I'm really behind with everyone. First item on my to do list it catch up!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/02/2017 13:53

Cotswold good luck getting ut dry.ARF at peaking to soon know that feeling
cag glad your days going from strength to strength. Hope gp letters everything you need

I have done more washing buy not much else. Between cuddles and making drinks u seem be spending a lit time on my bum watch daytime TV/pinterest/alphabetty time wasting
I never this procrastinating when "home alone"Blush

CotswoldStrife · 07/02/2017 14:40

Good work this morning Cag, well done for not cancelling.

Washing (I hung out about 4 t-shirts) actually dried a bit, so have ironed them and hung them up to finish drying. Now have teatowels drying out there. The big question is whether I remember to bring them in!

Remembered too late that I hadn't posted a birthday card so have done that. Also, the dancewear that I ordered yesterday is unlikely to arrive in time (ebay trader) so have had to order again from a large company with reliable delivery Angry. I knew this trader was slow from our last transaction so that's the last order from me there. Ebay has been more of a miss than a hit recently Sad

foxessocks · 07/02/2017 15:05

Ooh washing outside is a sign of spring coming! I haven't done it myself yet as it would involve me cleaning the line first and I'm too lazy for that Smile
We have been out most of the day which was fun but have to say I'm enjoying being home and relaxing a bit now. Dh has come home early and is out in the garden with DD. Ds is asleep on my lap and it's very peaceful. My neck / back is much better today but still full of cold so trying to take things a bit easy.

Ta das
Daily routine all done
Done the hot spot declutter in the kitchen (mine is a constant pile of paperwork on the side)

To dos
Dust furniture
More washing as I'm trying to get the pile right down before I strip the beds tomorrow
Declutter one kitchen cupboard

Dh is doing dinner tonight so don't need to worry about that except I might make a salad because he won't do that as he doesn't see the point in it!

CotswoldStrife · 07/02/2017 15:45

My smug over-confidence in the weather was dented when the teatowels got rained on - sudden exuberant burst of weather, there Grin

Cagliostro · 07/02/2017 15:58

Aw shame Cotswold! I just looked out of the window myself and it is mostly cloud. Oh well.

Thanks for the encouragement Fledglings! Thanks

Project work done and a bit of budget management for maths :) struggling to get up now though as we did the computer stuff on our bed. And now I can't be arsed to move! :o

I do need to soon though as DD has tap.

foxessocks · 07/02/2017 17:02

Ta das
Decluttered two kitchen cupboards
Put some stuff away in the living room

To do
More washing
Tidy after dinner
Dusting

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 07/02/2017 17:32

I ache so much, at least three of the houses I went into today had high gloss stuff. Absolutely beautiful homes but the buffing hurts my shoulder.
And I hate to say it but I want a high gloss kitchen, when the kids and cats leave home, the dog is ok she's not one for walking on kitchen worktops. Well neither are the kids but they are touchy feely, and a bit like magpies to shiny surfaces.

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 07/02/2017 17:35

No flying done here.

foxessocks · 07/02/2017 18:59

scuttl absolutely - shiny surfaces wouldn't stay shiny for long in my house!

Ta das
Dusted most of the furniture
Hung up laundry and put more on
Wiped kitchen sides down after dinner
Tidied living room
DD and ds bath and dd bed

To do
Get ds to sleep and then relax (hopefully!)
No pilates tonight as still resting my neck and back a bit but can't use that excuse much longer.

Cagliostro · 07/02/2017 19:55

Sorry about the soreness there Foxes

Scuttl of course you Flew, it was just in other houses! :o

Bit of an annoying evening here, ended up in a rush to tap dancing (although worth it because DD came out beaming, she's been picked as the lead for her class tap dance piece in the show next term!). Partly delayed due to collecting the door shelf thingies so I'm going to build them tonight as otherwise it will have all been for nothing! :o

foxessocks · 07/02/2017 20:18

Congratulations to your dd cag good for her!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/02/2017 21:31

Hello all,

Well we made the macaroni cheese, DD1 hated it (as expected but at least she sat with us, did try some and ate the veg). DD2 also hated it and said it was horrible and not like nursery macaroni cheese Angry Grin. Oh well, I think it was a ta da though as she enjoyed helping and again did try it and ate some veg. Plus I have some in the freezer for another meal.

Ta da:-
Plumber has been - he needs to come back tomorrow but job pretty much done
Before bed routine

To do:-
More laundry
Work email
Update Amazon basket
Links
Sit down!

I am working tomorrow so will be on tomorrow night and possibly in the morning and at lunchtime briefly.

Cag, how exciting for your DD Smile. Also you must let us know how the shelves work out. Cotswold, brownie points for hanging washing out. There was a definite spring feel here although cold again now. Scuttl, sounds as if you have been working hard. We had white gloss kitchen in our old house and it was lovely but that was pre-DC. Totally agree, wouldn't have it currently. foxes, enjoy a guilt free rest while the excuse lasts. Purple, good to see you again Smile. Hello to all other fledglings.

Sorry zoo, Grey and WhoKn0ws (and anyone else!), forgot to wave at you!

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 07/02/2017 21:36

How can anyone hate macaroni cheese? I think your daughter needs a trip to the doctor. Grin. I may be biased because it's my absolute favourite comfort food.

I haven't managed much useful today. I had a really lovely trip to a nearby city to meet a friend and was knackered when I got back. The house was tidy on Sunday. I can't understand how it's messy now.

Never mind...tomorrow is a new day!

Greymalkin · 07/02/2017 21:40

Good evening everyone.

Cag hope that letter gets sorted soon for you, and well done to your DD

Stressy - great thread leading! February is quiet, I was thread leader last September, OMG, the influx of newbies was terrifying!!

Scuttl after all that hard work you deserve some Chocolate (maybe Zoo will give you one of her kit kats)

to Cotswold, Purple, Foxes, WhoKnows, SC and any other lurkers or people I've forgotten.

Lots going on here at GreyTowers; DH is dying from a severe bout of man flu, DS is doing an amazing job at potty training and I have been offered a new job. A small amount of flying has also taken place...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/02/2017 21:42

I know Purple, I love it too! If you figure out how houses gets messy please let me know Smile. Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day though.

Here is the daily summary for Wednesday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 2 this week: the kitchen

Spend 15 mins (or what you can Thanks manage) decluttering in Zone 2. When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 2 is here

The mission for the day is:-
Today we are going to clean the inside of the windows. Remember we are in Zone 2 so only get the windows in your kitchen. Make sure to get the window sill and the top.

The daily focus for Wednesday is: anti-procrastination
Essential although I often procrastinate about this ;)

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby-step no 8 - start your control journal by writing down your morning and evening routines I use the home routines app for this which I love although there is a Flylady app I think. Some kind of cozi thing??

Flykids mission:
Today you are going to open up your sock drawer and look for all of the socks that don't fit or have holes in them. If you have socks that are in that drawer that you just don't wear let's toss those out along with the ones that don't fit or have holes in them!!
Ready, Set....GO.
A good one for all of us I think!

Happy flying.

Ooh Grey, Xpost, well done on new job and to your DS for potty training progress. I joined in September along with loads of us I think, you must have been kept busy!

OP posts:
WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 07/02/2017 22:05

Stressy - I'm with your DCs I'm afraid, macaroni cheese is right up there on my most-hated meals list. Only DD likes it in our house.

Grey - congratulations on the job offer.

I haven't read through properly but it is about time I joined back in before the house deteriorates over half term. My DCs go to school in two counties (we live on a boundary) so I've got one off next week and one off the week after which is a logistical nightmare as childcare is only available in the county that's off at the time. I am going to be spending a lot of time hurtling around in the car.
