Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 16/02/2017 07:44

Hi everyone, can I please jump in and join you mid-month?
I've lurked for a while on the thread but really need to get motivated to sort my house as I now have a 6 week old and my tiny house has taken a battering!

Afreshstartplease · 16/02/2017 08:55

Welcome Rosie

My youngest is 17 weeks and I am just starting to get back in a better place housework wise!

Ta Da

Dryer emptied and reloaded
Pots washed

Cagliostro · 16/02/2017 09:49

Morning all and welcome Rosie - congrats on the newbie Thanks :)

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 16/02/2017 11:46

Thanks Cag!
I feel a bit better knowing it took that long Afreshstart Smile

Ta da so far:
2 loads of laundry washed
One load dried
Yesterday's drying put away
Animals fed
Washing up done

DS now napping on my lap so that's put a bit of a halt on things...

Afreshstartplease · 16/02/2017 12:02

Rosie Is ds your first? Some days you just have to be kind to yourself and on those days I go back to thinking - everyone fed, no one dead

Ta Da

Dryer emptied and reloaded
Pots washed
Bottles sterilised
Shopping away
Dcs lunch made

foxessocks · 16/02/2017 13:53

I've been out all day and am actually dreading going home to the mess indoors!! I didn't do a thing this morning because I just needed to get the small people OUT of the house Grin I hate knowing there's mess for me to go home to Sad

foxessocks · 16/02/2017 18:22

Ta das
Daily routine finished except bathroom (I really need to tackle the bathroom tomorrow!)
Dinner cooked and kitchen tidied
Living room tidied
DD and ds in bath

Not going to attempt much else tbh. I've got a sore throat and am absolutely shattered. I can't believe I've only just got rid of one cold and seem to be getting another. DS poorly too with a temperature and cough. DD getting better but over tired and has been a handful this afternoon.

Sorry for the moan! Hope everyone okay it's quiet on here this afternoon!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/02/2017 18:46

Hello all, sorry have been AWOL - at work today then got back and put both DDs straight in shower so they are having milk with a tv programme now. foxes, how rubbish to have another cold, I have come down with one too and am really wanting just to sit with a hot drink and collapse. Afresh, hope your earache cleared up - dentist appointment sounds like a good idea I'm afraid.

Rosie, welcome! Yes, the more, the merrier. Congratulations on your DD. Totally agree with Afresh, at 6 weeks it is all about being good to yourself. If I remember correctly the Flylady website has some tips for flying with a baby, I'll have a look later.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 16/02/2017 21:04

Thanks for the welcome everyone Smile
Afreshstart I love that quote, I might write it on my hand to look at through the day.

Ta das:
3 loads of laundry washed, dried and put away
Animals fed
Washing up done and put away
Kitchen tidied
Rug vacuumed
Carpets upstairs vacuumed
DS bedroom tidied and disinfected
Nappy bin emptied
Living room tidied
Bottles sterilised
Documents found for solicitor
Wages sorted with work

Think that's about it. I've just managed to sit down and eat dinner for the first time since DS arrived without him waking up and wanting feeding so I'm writing today off as a victory Grin
Hope everyone recovers from colds and earaches by tomorrow.

Afreshstartplease · 16/02/2017 21:15

stressy I don't think it's my teeth now, it's been both ears today and now my throat is sore too Sad

I can't even remember most of what I've done today

Gonna have a quick run around and then go to bed!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/02/2017 21:49

Rosie, amazing list! Oh dear Afresh, perhaps not teeth then- have some Brew. I am a little in naughty corner as have not done before bed routine but have had enough and am sniffly. Just finished online food shop so going to get into PJs and collapse! I love "everyone fed, no one dead" Grin.

Here is the daily summary for Friday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 3 this week: the bathroom and one other room

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 3 is here

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 3

Mission:
Today is gong to be an easy one! Today I want you to empty the garbage in the bathroom, laundry room, extra bedroom, kids rooms, and the office. I usually get one kitchen trash bag and empty all of them in it so I only have 1 bag to take out!

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders:
reminders

The daily focus for Friday is: declutter your handbag and car/date night

Baby-step no 17 - set a bed time and stick to it This is a good one. I try to have an 11pm bedtime.

Flykids challenge:
Hi Kids!

We are going to do what is called a Hot Spot Fire Drill!

This is when we look around our rooms at the flat surfaces of our furniture. The desk, the dresser and the nightstands. These are the places that we will just pile things on instead of throwing them away or putting them away. These are the Hot Spots.

To help us clean these places up we are going to do a Fire Drill. We are going to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much and can throw away and put away off of those Hot Spots.

Ready.. set.... GO!

Your rooms will look and feel less messy when those flat surfaces are neat.

www.flylady.net/d/gycw/flying-with-baby/ Testimonials about flying with a baby. The website has lots of testimonials about lots of different life styles and how they can work with flying.

Happy flying :)

Still slightly AWOL here, not as much laptop time in the half-term and I'm away for Fri and Sat nights so may be quiet then too.

Having a lovely time but not achieving any flying! DD is bad again as well, will see how she is tomorrow.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/02/2017 06:12

everyone fed no one dead Grin that's how I roll afresh

Afreshstartplease · 17/02/2017 06:36

Ears feel fuzzy this morning. I think that's the best word for it. I'm full of a cold now too Sad

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 17/02/2017 10:00

Morning all.
Thanks for the link about flying with babies stressy, at least it shows it can be done!
Hope the many cupolas are helping afresh

Rough night last night with Rosiebaby so we've had a slow start this morning.
Ta da:

Fed animals
One load of laundry washed
Piece of solicitor paperwork sorted

I've got a massive to do list but the cat's on my lap and the baby's asleep so really I need to stay here with a cuppa Grin

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 17/02/2017 10:01

I don't know what a cupola is, I meant to say cuppas!

foxessocks · 17/02/2017 12:54

Hi all! Rosie if the baby is asleep and everyone is comfy then do not move regardless of what needs doing! It can all wait!

Ta da
Emptied the dishwasher
Made lunch

We have been out this morning. DD is now watching TV as we've hardly had any time at home this week so we all need some time at home. Ds is grizzling in his bouncy chair but nothing I do is helping. He is snotty and has a temperature and is very grumpy bless him. I've still got this cold or it's a new cold I don't know but I'd like it to go now as it is dds birthday weekend so we've got lots to do.

To do
Finish daily routine
Wash bath mats
Empty bathroom bin
Clean bathroom
Make cookies
Declutter in DS room
Ironing
Meal plan
Food shopping online
Declutter bag and car and purse

Argh. So much to do!!

foxessocks · 17/02/2017 12:55

Just read that back and I seem to have lost the ability to type proper English. Apologies.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/02/2017 13:07

Ta da:-
One load laundry
Started stripping beds
Morning routine
10 mins declutter - study is looking a bit better
At a play date at the minute

OP posts:
foxessocks · 17/02/2017 16:10

Ta das
Daily routine finished
Cookies in the oven
Meal plan done
Food shopping online done

To do
Everything else on my list.

Just stopping for a coffee while the cookies finish baking. They've gone a bit wrong actually, don't look quite right!

Afreshstartplease · 17/02/2017 16:13
