Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 10:27

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Yes sorry Purple, I am a bad thread leader with not explaining the BRCs. Such a great name for them though Smile.

It is so hard to see a difference at times, I agree.

Ta da:-
DH has started tea
Sorted out present for friend with new baby to wrap tonight

To do
Everything left on list
Phone my parents

OP posts:
foxessocks · 12/02/2017 17:16

Ta das
Two kitchen cupboards decluttered
Bag and purse decluttered
Dinner started
New curtains up
Daily routine

To do
Finish dinner and tidy kitchen
Ironing...Hmm this may not happen I'm going to be honest!

Done no exercise this week because of my horrible cold and I accidentally bought more chocolate earlier. I blame MN because I wanted to try some co op chocolate as it was recommended on another thread Blush

Afreshstartplease · 12/02/2017 17:25

It really is cag

I just think imagine how bad it'd be if I did nothing ....

Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 17:45

Indeed. Something is better than nowt.

I have spent all afternoon dealing with an incredibly stroppy 9yo. Angry

Afreshstartplease · 12/02/2017 18:57

Ah I had one of those this morning. Is yours male or female?

Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 19:48

It's DD. Stroppy as hell and pushing boundaries like a dog with a bone. Seem to have got through it now and she's about to go to bed (probably won't sleep for several hours but oh well).

My bed is covered in the contents of BRCs. :( Sorted a fair bit of it but ran out of steam.

Afreshstartplease · 12/02/2017 21:39

Mine is a ds. More wailing at things not being fair and snapping at siblings here!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 12/02/2017 22:11

Hello lovely people. Have had a relatively productive day today Smile. Managed to empty one RBC, looked through some school paperwork and did manage to renew my spirit by playing a game with DDs and DH. Strangely relaxing weekend!

Just relaxing with a glass of wine now - going to do a calendar check and possibly some preschool admin dependent on the time.

Will now attempt a weekend round up...
Purple has been busy nursing a poorly guinea pig. zoo and Cag have been working through RBCs. Afresh and Cag have also been busy with stroppy 9 year olds. foxes has been battling a cold but is still flapping away. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Hmmm, SC did really good thread round ups but I am not sure I have her skills! Might only try that once a week Grin. Anyway...

Here is the daily summary for Monday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 3 this week: the bathroom and one other room

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 3 is here

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 3

The mission for today is: this week we will be in zone 3, the Main Bathroom and another room. For today let's stay in the Bathroom only. The mission today is to wash the shower door or shower curtain. If your shower curtain is plastic and you can afford to replace it, put that on your list to pick up Thursday. If you can not afford just clean it the best you can with some cleaner and a rag.

The daily focus for Monday is: weekly home blessing hour

Flylady herself says do the home bleugh (what we call the home blessing - makes it more bearable!) when it suits you best. Personally I occupy the DC while DH does it at the end of the week or at the weekend.

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders:
reminders sorry guys just realised I should have been changing the link for this each day.

Baby-step no 13 - pick a mission and do it

Flykids mission
Today I want you to open up the doors of your closet and check to see if you have any clothes that have fallen off of the hangers and have become jumbled up on the floor of the closet.
Set a timer or ask Mom or Dad to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much you can hang back up. If you can't reach the rod to hang these things back up, ask Mom or Dad to give you some hangers, you then hang the clothes on the hangers, then ask for help to hang them up. If you need to set the timer again, then do so for another 5 minutes. If you find some things that no longer fit or you do not use, put those in a bag and give them to a parent to bless someone else with.
Remember less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play.

Have fun!

Happy flying.

Ah the old That's Not Fair. We had that today, bizarrely it's the first time I really recall her using that phrase. Had to happen sometime I guess.

I am still sitting on my bed surrounded by crap but a huge pile of recycling and rubbish has left the bedroom, I've filed some loose sheet music in a project folder thingy to keep it all together, and I've typed up a load of random teaching ideas I'd written on paper. I've also decluttered my downloads folder on the laptop which is quite an achievement. Admittedly some of that was just moving files to the appropriate folder but still.

Can't sleep. DH is kipping downstairs tonight as he's up super early tomorrow with a client (DH qualified as a personal trainer a few years back, it's not his job now but an extra). I'm going to stick a DVD on the laptop and hopefully doze off at some point. I may even take my medication which I've managed without for a month. Hmm

Thanks for the round up Stressy :)

Afreshstartplease · 13/02/2017 06:29

First time Shock it's easily top 5 common phrases in this house used by all three speaking DC (9, 7+3) Top 5 also includes ...."I'm bored" and "can I have"

Older two were awful for bickering yesterday so I feel I need tin hat now as we are in the dreaded half term

This morning I need to go to the bank and the post office with all DC in tow. Headache central.

Also even though I was productive yesterday morning I then did a zoo and gave up mid afternoon .... I'm scared of my kitchen

Morning folks!

Feels like morning anyway as I had a long sleep in. Super drowsy from the medication. DH had taken the kids out on a bike ride. They haven't done any work though so need to get crack on when they get back in.

I am knackered and have zero energy and motivation is in the negative.

Afreshstartplease · 13/02/2017 13:54

Well today has been unusually calm and stress free (so far)

PurpleDaisies · 13/02/2017 14:01

It's half term here so I'm currently directing dh to do the usual weekly clean while I'm on the sofa. It's very nice indeed! We've been out to buy a load of boring stuff and had lunch at Subway. I'm currently working on another crochet baby blanket for a friend. It's a faster one to work up so I'm hoping to finish in the next week (she's due in two weeks and I'm really hoping it's not early!).

foxessocks · 13/02/2017 14:48

zoo it's just the co op own brand milk chocolate but it doesn't have palm oil in it apparently so good ethically and tastes more like proper chocolate. It is really nice actually! Not as sweet as cadburys etc, creamier.

Ta das
Daily routine all done

To do
Ironing
Declutter in bathroom

Just had to stop to feed DS (and drink more tea obviously)

I've already got the m&s dine in meal for tomorrow and got dh a chocolate orange too!

CotswoldStrife · 13/02/2017 17:16

I need to nip out to the shops shortly and get something even slightly interesting for tea tonight (and possibly something for Valentine's Day tomorrow).

DD is suffering (again!) with a cough and a sore throat, so we are back on the Calpol Blush Craft even this morning was fab. Another simple idea but so well done and I can't think up this stuff by myself and DD really enjoyed it.

Precious little flying done today - I am the required playmate, one child means no arguing but you are always in the frame for playing - but there is always this evening to get a bit done. DH has been to the tip though! Clutter clearing is constant here, we have so much Sad

Currently enjoying a takeaway caramel coffee and hoping that the surge of caffeine improves my chance of success this evening! Catch you late!

CotswoldStrife · 13/02/2017 17:16

Later. Catch you later, not late Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/02/2017 17:42

Having more than one doesn't always mean they play togetherCotswold
I still get drafted to play in hols when they're falling out each other.tgeyvnoni rarely say no to a colouring bookso approach with sad faces and pencil crayons and I often get suckeredGrin

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/02/2017 17:48

Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread
foxessocks · 13/02/2017 19:52

Yep zoo co op £1 bar milk chocolate. Pale blue packet. I've just finished it off and I much prefer it to cadburys. Next time I'm in m&s I'm going to try their own brand chocolate as that was another recommendation. Should probably wait until at least next week for that though Grin

Ta das
Declutter in bathroom
Ironing
Sorted some socks
Ten minutes exercise
Tidied living room
Tidied kitchen

Caramel coffee sounds nice Cotswold
