Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Am also in naughty corner as home bleugh not done and nothing more will be achieved now as it is nearly 10pm. Did finally decide (I think) on some aquabead type things on Amazon for DD2. Have any of you used them?

Here is the daily summary for Saturday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 2 this week: the kitchen

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 2.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 2 is here

No mission as it is the weekend

Daily focus for Saturday is family fun time
www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-saturday/

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders

Baby-step no 11 - add an inspiration page to your control journal with your favourite quotes on

Maybe I should do this and would end up in the naughty corner less

Happy flying!

Thanks stressy.

The naughty corner is clearly where all the cool people hang out...

Does having a g and t specifically to use up lime so it didn't go off in the fridge count as decluttering?

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/02/2017 22:47

Most definitely purple
toostressydd2loved aquabeads as didn't have rely on me to iron hama ones! If you add too much water they go really sticky and don't dry properly an disintegrate. Works best spray couple times, let dry then turn over and spray couple times n let dry.slightly more robust then!!

I have dd2lay sofa nose streaming, sneeze and wheezing((loses will to live))

Somebody make all these lurgys go away

CotswoldStrife · 10/02/2017 22:53

We've used the beads that you iron, they make good coasters. It does take a long time to put them on the boards, a very fiddly job.

GP - my sister had some, I remember the squeaking as soon as they heard the back gate or door move. We used to walk up the garden ripping up a handful of grass and drop it into the hutch - years later I read the squeaking was a sign of affection not hunger, but they didn't kick the grass out of the hutch Hmm

Great use of the lime there as well, doing your bit for the environment

I am clinging on to the sofa of the naughty corner myself tonight, had a severe case of CBA! DD was out for ages and I still didn't do anything other than cook a meal for DH and I. I will regret this tomorrow when we have a 45 minute turnaround between events and we have to eat lunch in that timescale.

Now eating crisps as well as drinking wine. Should really go to bed soon as I'll be a whirling dervish of activity* tomorrow morning, hahahah!

*we all know this isn't true, but thank you for humouring me.

Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 02:28

Beautiful blanket Purple!

Gah I can't sleep. Had been doing much better lately but just lay there for hours tonight. 😡

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 08:03

Morning all, both DDs up early but have managed a relaxing couple of hours on sofa while they watched telly. No dancing this morning as half term so am making the most of not having to be anywhere Smile. Mornings are usually such a rush even at the weekends and they are finally at the age where they will chill and watch at least 5 mins of telly in the morning while I put a wash on etc. I have waited for years to be at that point!

DD2 has a party this afternoon and DH is going to take DD1 out. So won't exactly be family fun day but I always find that a joke with youngish children anyway Angry humbug.

Going to make a real effort to be more productive today as have been very unproductive the last couple of days.

Ta da:-
Have crawled up off sofa and had shower

To do:-
Put away clean laundry - it is everywhere so feel I need to do this before putting more on
Morning routine
Find and wrap bday presents and do cards for party this afternoon
Amazon order for DD2 birthday
General house tidy up - given up on cleaning but we have a lot of hot spots that need putting out

purple, fab blanket! zoo and foxes sorry to hear lurgy is back. Hope you got some sleep Cag. Cotswold, waiting excitedly to hear about your productive morning of activity Wink. Big hello to everyone else.

Thanks for bead advice. Have lost the will and am going to order a set on Amazon and hope for the best. Have been advised that hama beads are good but DDs adamant they want aquabeads (bloody adverts). So will try them. Don't want to spend a fortune in case they or I hate them! Officially is present from DD1 to give to DD2 for her bday but clearly she wants to play with them herself too Smile.

Afreshstartplease · 11/02/2017 08:42

I always said from day one-i don't carry bags, coats etc.I am not a pack horse

YES ZOO Honest to god almost all the parents at our school carry everything for their DC. I refuse. I also refuse to let them dump it all on the pram.

Afreshstartplease · 11/02/2017 08:47

I once bought hama beads

They never made it out the box because I Cba ironing them

They now have quixels which are like 3d aqua beads I think suited for older children probably 7+

So I got a lie in til 730
And then the kids threw milk all over the kitchen Sad

Everywhere is pretty much a shit tip and it's half term now so gonna be fighting a loosing battle

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 09:04

Oh no Afresh! I have to admit I do carry DD1's water bottle in my bag. I should stop really but she carries everything else and is usually fairly patient when we stop multiple times for DD2 when walking. I carry DD2's stuff as getting her to walk / scoot without whinging to be carried is my current priority!

Ta da:-
Amazon order - bought an extra little 'easy tray' for the beads so will see if it is actually easy!
Breakfast

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 09:23

I like the look of qixels, do they stick well? That's a water spray job as well isn't it?

Today is going to be hard work, DS has been soooo noisy and annoying this morning.

Afreshstartplease · 11/02/2017 09:24

I may help dd with her things when she starts school in Sept as she will be a fairly young 4. However I frequently see people carrying their 10 year olds lunch!

Afreshstartplease · 11/02/2017 09:26

Qixels is water yes. Ds made me something at Christmas and it's still all intact. However I haven't played with it or anything so it might not last if a child played with it! Ds is 9 and managed to work it out all by himself

Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 09:34

Thanks :) my two never really play with what they make TBH it's more likely to be stuck on the wall for a bit, they like making them (Hama beads) more than looking at them after :o

Afreshstartplease · 11/02/2017 09:36

My eldest is like that cag

Ta Da

Milk flood moped up
Table cleaned post breakfast
Washer emptied and relaxed

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 10:54

Ta da:-
Shock It has taken me until now to sort out all the laundry everywhere and tidy the kitchen. Have had to stop every so often to referee. No cleaning done but just about to put dishwasher on and one load just finished in machine.

To do:-
Next load of laundry
Wrap present for party with DDs

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2017 14:23

afresh pleased I not the only "evil ""parent that don't carry stuff. I know loads parents still carrying stuff year 6 and one that drops kids in car(10min tops on foot)round corner from school as in yr 6,not cool seen with mum but wants a lift.little snot needs good kick up pants if you ask me...
I also feel the pain of chaos in holsafresh floors disappear-missing assumed buried. Wars break out over simplest of tasks. I either want spend all week in naughty corner or with head in sand!!Easter is usually warmer,so we tend go out.a lot.parks, walks etc.I say kids like ocean, can't turn back on them too long and like dogs need walk/exercise often or wreck the place.
In fly news done naff all.dd2 still wheezing n coughing.I am really fed up.I've never known them drop so bloodyoften as they have this school year(so far)

Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 14:28

Sorry they're still so poorly :(

I'm sitting in front of a pile of BRCs. SIGH.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2017 14:32

cag mine are shoved in cupboards under stairs

Dd2 just scream opening door let furry boy in.I went see what wring.he's disembowelled a pigeon on doorstep.its bloody carcass left.his the Dickens manage that with collar and bell anyone's guess.he's been refused entry as has blood on white patches. Explains why he's been refuse eat here last couple days, just sleep.he was put out earlier sit in sink licking taps.clearly got attitude todayHmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2017 14:33

I should add BRC,not zoolets shove in cupboardGrin

PurpleDaisies · 11/02/2017 14:39

Hi everyone, it's bloody freezing here and there was even snow this morning. We've had a trip to the vets with the guinea pig who isn't very well. He's off his food so we're having to hand feed him until he picks up. No flying here yet.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 18:25

Hello all, bit of snow here too but only little flurries. Still exciting though Smile. Purple, how is your guinea pig? zoo Grin at buried floors and chaos and kids in cupboards! Cag, hope you got some BRCs sorted.

Ta da
10 mins decluttering
DH has done home bleugh
Beds mostly stripped
DD2 in bath
DH and DD1 went to choose some lego as a treat today. Feels like a new era! Also a new storage issue if we get much more Confused.
Tea eaten

To do:-
Finish bathtime
Make beds
Keep on top of laundry
Attempt family game evening tonight.

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 18:25

Also feed neighbours' fish. Must remember plus have some preschool admin to do.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2017 18:43

toostressy we have a big plastic crate for lego.all sets get lobbed in,instructions added and they just get on with it.makes easier to clear up as not look x or y brick missing from box with multiple builds amongst basic blocks another zoolets playing with!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/02/2017 18:56

As in the sets in separate boxes in the crate? I get very confused with lego storage!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2017 19:01

We used to run with put the boxes into large food bags and lob all into a big crate.as they've got older easier just top all bricks into crate and add instructions from the sets and leave it as a free for all.they tend "master build' rather than remake sets any wayGrin
