Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

Community cafe is doing a "binner" tonight-save from bin dinner.all the stuff picked up from supermarkets be made into a spread of hot meals and buffet stuff showcasing the cafe ideas and principles and is a (rare)evening event rather than just a breakfast/lunch thing 3x a week.for £7 a head(kids go free) you can have as much ss yoi want to eat, costs allow fir heating, fuel expenditure and promoting the junk food project.I not help serve up(starts at 8pm,too late for lil zoo) but we are help prep (me food/zoolets tables etc)at 3pm onwards,so busy day!!

Some kind of laundry happening (done by DH so will need to do an investigation in a bit!)
Plan made for next bit of assignment which is great
DD1 homework

To do:-
School event later
Need to cut lots of words out of one part of assignment and haven't got a bloody clue how to cut it down much further. Will have to get on with it tonight and just not go to bed til it's done. Seriously had enough now.
Bath and bed etc
DH going to go food shopping in a bit to save me doing it online to give me more time for assignment.

CotswoldStrife · 21/01/2017 13:41

Afternoon all, DH is out all day today. DD has been to her morning activity, we have had lunch and will go out for the afternoon shortly.

Today - unloaded dishwasher, have laundry to hang up to dry.

I will be back later tonight!

foxessocks · 21/01/2017 17:53

Ta das
Did lots of ironing and put it all away
Put dishwasher on again
Tidied living room again

Didn't get everything on my list done but I was being optimistic. We have a stroppy 3 yo today and she is having microwave pizza for dinner Blush the aim now is to get her into the bath and into bed as soon as possible and then have pizza , wine and chocolate (January had been going so well for healthy eating until now!).

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends.

CotswoldStrife · 21/01/2017 22:20

zoo that sounds a lovely way to remember your mum Flowers

Yet again, I'm the slacker on the thread Blush Not done much at all today, but had a lovely afternoon with DD just mooching round the mall and spending some of her Christmas money. Tea at McD's and then a bit extra when DH got himself a takeaway when he arrived home

It's our last free weekend because of various things for about a month, so I am going to enjoy it! It will be fun, just need to pull myself together for planning purposes.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/01/2017 23:36

Ta da:-
Loads of words cut out of latest part of assignment Smile.

Unfortunately managed to knock over shredder and obviously too late to get Hoover out now plus living room covered in toys. Rest of house acceptable though.

Going to do 5 min sort out of bags for tomorrow then I am done!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/01/2017 23:37

Also DH did food shop so will forgive him for not tidying toys Smile

Afreshstartplease · 22/01/2017 07:49

Morning all

I managed to go to bed with house reasonably presentable downstairs at least so that was nice to get up to

However I have just taken in my food shop and dumped it all over the kitchen and I cannot be arsed to put it away!

Waiting on the dryer finishing then will reload both that and the washer, and wash the kids breakfast pots

We also had takeaway last night after a fairly healthy month so far. Neither of us could face cooking. I hate the expense of takeaway though. I just think what I could get from the supermarket for that £30+

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/01/2017 08:08

Morning all,

afresh, I reckon you could view that takeaway as a treat as it sounds as if it's the first time this month! Totally sympathise with the putting shopping away. I find it takes ages, mainly because DD2 'helps'.

DDs have properly, properly argued over a toy this morning so frog marched them to breakfast and to get dressed. Now playing as if best of friends but will probably be arguing again in 20 mins Confused. On the plus side all up and dressed earlier than usual now for a Sunday.

Ta da:-
All up and dressed
Breakfast

To do:-
Laundry
Dishwasher
DDs' hair
Take DD1 to activity - DH off this weekend and going to stay at home with DD2 so I can get half an hour of work done at DD2's activity.
Plan for later is hopefully DH will occupy both girls so I can shut myself in a room and get on with last main bit of assignment.

Afreshstartplease · 22/01/2017 08:19

How old are dds stress?

Ta Da

Shopping away

To do

Reload washer and dryer
Fold dry washing
Wash pots
Sterilise bottles

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/01/2017 10:29

They are 3 (nearly 4) and 6 so good agesfor playing together, most of the time!

Ta da:-
One load laundry
Dishwasher
40 mins studying

foxessocks · 22/01/2017 10:43

Morning everyone! I'm still in bed Blush another bad night with ds. HR really doesn't want to sleep at the moment. Ever. I can hear dh downstairs getting the hoover out and emptying bins and such and he was also woken up a lot last night so feeling a bit guilty now. Should probably get up and do something useful.

Does anyone else feel really motivated when they first get up and then sit down on the sofa and the motivation just vanishes. I need to stop myself from sitting on the sofa in the first place...

foxessocks · 22/01/2017 10:43

Ha, *he not HR

foxessocks · 22/01/2017 12:06

Ta das
Cleaned bathroom floor
Polished all the mirrors
Dusted downstairs furniture
Emptied nappy bin
Emptied bathroom bin and cleaned the bin
Cleaned back of toilet and sink
Cleaned towel rail
Did daily routine
Dh hoovered downstairs

And now I've sat down so probably won't move again for some time!

Cagliostro · 22/01/2017 13:05

Totally with you there foxes I just feel... inert!

Yesterday was lovely - DH's birthday so we went to a nearby town for lunch and a wander and to buy more board games in the chazzer :) so bloody achy though.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/01/2017 17:51

Ta da:-
Load of rough work done for mini essay
All eaten tea
DDs drinking milk
Laundry under control (ish)

To do:-
Bath and bed time
Before bed routine
5 mins decluttering
Send email about one of DD1's activities
Quick calendar check
Turn rough pile of thoughts into something I can actually hand in as an assignment

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/01/2017 17:53

Re. the sitting down, yes, although I find that a problem in the evenings. In the day I think I will do all this stuff once DC in bed. It gets to that point and I am so tired and stuff takes so much longer than I hope! Fatal to properly sit down in the first place.

Not a problem at the moment as am seriously concerned about this assignment so have the fear now and the only place I am sitting for long periods at home is the computer!

Elenorrigbywoes · 22/01/2017 20:56

I have had a busy week at work so have just been scanning the thread and picking up the tasks. I've kept the house in fairly good order so am delighted with myself. Usually when work is busy I let the housework slide as I have an excuse but this year I have been making a conscious effort to prioritise housework - a first for me! I'm finding the more I do the more I want to keep doing!

Ta das:
Weekly shopping done
One washload
Dishwasher filled and emptied
Floors swept and mopped
15 minutes of ironing
Laundry folded and put away
Beds changed
Cutlery drawer cleaned and tidied
Dinner cooked, soup made for the week and lunches sorted for tomorrow.

Another busy week ahead so I'm hoping my Sunday Well spent leads to a week of content as they say!

CotswoldStrife · 22/01/2017 22:37

Inertia should be my username - or 'don't turn the laptop on'!

Once again, my threadmates put me to shame with their successes. I did clean a bit of the (f)utility room today, but it is so small that even half of it is not a great deal. Almost only almost caught up on the washing up too. Kitchen is looking better probably because sorting out the futility room means I can hide stuff in there Blush

Will do the links next. At least with MN being so slow this week I'm not spending hours reading it. Every cloud ... Grin

Evening all. Behind with thread as ever ATM but hope everyone OK.

Too much happening to list and must get to bed but suffice to say living between two premises is fun but complex (and I am going to have to impose some rules about luggage and random bags permanently in hall and radically adapt meal planning).

Re: sitting down thing: basically I try not to during the day, or I fall asleep! Must be my age I think. But with dh away so much, and DD at school, and working from home, I could really allow myself to go to pot if I didn't impose a bit of discipline upon myself. (V different from your situation Foxes being seriously sleep deprived from continual broken nights with little uns.)

Lace up shoes help I find, although I know not to everyone's taste. And definitely do not sit down at night until I've got everything done, because it's so hard to get up and going again, particularly at this dark, cold time of year. So really I do my evening routine during afternoon but impractical if working outside of home of course.

Zoo that sounds like a lovely way of remembering your mum Flowers

Toostressy hope you got the assignment finished

EleonorRigby top Flying marks!!
