Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

zoo Grin at cannibals. Ah foxes, I thought he was 4 months or so, sleep regressions sounds right Sad.

Ta da:-
Laundry on
Dishwasher loaded
Nursery 'homework' - only drawing a picture - done with DD2
One assignment email sent, just realised forgot to send the other one so will have to do that later

To do:-
Calendar organising once DDs in bed
Get as much laundry out away as we can before picking up DD1 from school.

Hope all ok Cotswold

foxessocks · 16/01/2017 14:49

Dh is just taking apart the Moses basket so I can take it to the charity shop as ds sleeps in his big cot now. DD asked him what he was doing so he explained that we don't need it anymore and she said "but I want to keep the little baby!!"

Bless her, we had to explain it is just the Moses basket that is going not her little brother too!

Rshard · 16/01/2017 14:53

Blimey zoo two of the trickiest groups to deal with!

Ta da's
Dishwasher on
Dd's school tops ironed

To do's
Dinner
Post dinner clean up
Empty dishwasher
Mop kitchen floor
Hoover living room carpet
But food I forgot on weekly shop

My bathroom is clutter free so I'll do thendeep clean. I'm also going to continue my decluttering efforts on dd's room with her assistance. She's currently in the spare room as we're decorating hers so we've done some but we can get rid of more. She's quite sentimental and a bit of a hoarder but also so untidy!

PurpleDaisies · 16/01/2017 15:12

That's a very cute comment from your dd foxes.

I'm on a roll-the bathroom is already decluttered by virtue of only having lived in this house for a short time so I've done the deep clean and celebrated by having a bath. I've managed to knock off the mini shop after someone on another thread suggested a fab looking and super easy daal recipe I've already made for dinner. I'm planning on trying out some sweet potato and onion bhajis to go with it when dh is home to grate the potato! The house is pretty straight now. Trying go get things in their right rooms and put away next. Then some sorting in front of the TV.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/01/2017 18:06

foxesthat's sooo sweet(goes all rose tinted and wants more babies)

Cagliostro · 16/01/2017 20:26

Thanks all, much better day despite sobbing my heart out over stupid evil bastard form (I know, don't mince your words Cag...) until 4am and therefore being knackered!

BTW I didn't mean a jigsaw puzzle :) (I do like those although lack the patience for big ones!) - my weakness is Japanese logic puzzles like enigma, hanjie etc. On this one you have to use the numbers to work out what needs to be coloured.

Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread
foxessocks · 16/01/2017 20:35

That's a seriously cool puzzle cag ! I'd never be able to do a puzzle like that I don't think I have the right kind of brain...

Ta das
Living room hoovered
Dishwasher emptied
Washing on / hung up
Thrown away some old paperwork from the spare room
Stuff up in loft from spare room
Moses basket taken apart

I was also meant to do some ironing and some yoga but those plans got scuppered by DS who was very upset and has fallen asleep on me , I don't dare move him (as he had his jabs today I think he needs even more cuddles than usual). Dh is studying so I'm watching modern family while the circulation in my arm is cut off by ds heavy head!

PurpleDaisies · 16/01/2017 21:23

That is a cool puzzle cag. Is the dreaded form nearly done? I usually help my mum with hers and it's just horrible. Flowers

I didn't quite manage everything I wanted after an energy crash mid afternoon but I did manage to get most bits put away and start a crochet blanket for a friend having a baby in march. It's a pretty fan pattern I've wanted to try for ages-why I thought starting it while tired was a good idea I don't know and I just couldn't get my head around it until I had coffee but I think I've got the idea of it now. Hopefully it'll keep me from just mindlessly watching tv with the internet,

By the way, if anyone want a cheap and ridiculously recipe for daal, I made this one earlier and it was delicious. One pan, less than half an hour from start to finish and really tasty. Six portions so have lots for the freezer too.

Cagliostro · 16/01/2017 21:32

Housing form is done and handed in! PIP nearly complete :)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/01/2017 21:49

Woo hoo well done Cag.Foxes awww at your DD. Purple, I am an appalling cook but even I might manage that. Will put it on a list of things to try, thanks.

Ta da:-
Bedtime routine done
Laundry under control
Dishwasher on

To do:-
Lots of little tiny admin type things for little extra shifts I might do in the future, emails to send etc. I knew that doing more temp work / freelancing would be time consuming like this which is exactly why I didn't want to do it until DD2 starts school in September but have been pushed into it slightly by having to drop hours at work (just couldn't manage pick ups and drop offs, amongst other things). Am trying to be grateful about the opportunities, even if nothing comes of them, and sending one email then getting other stuff done.

Work on next part of my assignment. If I never see this horrific thing again it will be too soon Smile.

CotswoldStrife · 16/01/2017 23:15

Hanjie - I didn't know those puzzles had a name. I have a game for a Nintendo DS that has some of those.

Apologies for my absence today. I, along with an extremely large number of people in my area, have been trying to buy tickets for a concert. Many of our English pounds have been spent to hear unsuitable lyrics and see barely-there costumes but it wasn't a smooth process. Some of the tweets have been quite funny, though I'm not laughing at the moment.

Then, having spent a shedload of money, DD spilt a staining drink tonight and instead of picking it up looked at it and said 'oops'. The mushroom-shaped cloud that eminated from me has barely settled. Even DH has spoken to her about reacting and not expecting others to do the work. A crackdown is needed, I feel and I have the ideal bribe with the concert tickets Grin

Onwards and upwards, will post the links shortly and will read and do proper namechecks and stuff tomorrow. Honest.

Morning all

foxes I hope your ds is OK after his jabs, we have the 12 week ones today, but I've been told out of the three these are the ones that shouldn't make him poorly so fingers crossed!

Up before all the DC today which is unusual as dd(3) has become a super early riser

Last night before bed I spent half an hour doing bits so it's not THAT bad downstairs this morning

Going to try and do the following before DC are up -

Put away few toys left out
Put away dry pots
Empty dryer
Reload dryer
Wash few cups etc

Afreshstartplease · 17/01/2017 06:55

Middle two DC are now up and I have accomplished -

Put away few toys left out
Put away dry pots
Empty dryer
Reload dryer
Wash few cups etc

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/01/2017 07:28

Well done afresh
Lil zoo woke as I was "in here" earlier.thought just awake and throat hurt.nope wet self/bed.I assume cis drank loads blackcurrant teatime and has habit not pee before go bed!!lots juice and then no toilet=wet bedSad
At 9shes beyond MORTIFIED
Ta das
Fed cats
Lil zoo bedding in wash
Lots reassurance/cuddles as was distraught
Sort a bag random crap

She's still in pain and has huge glands(known affectionately on dd2as the fat faces)talk dd2 she was a walking meltdown last night.howl at everything, spent 2.5hrs cry and try do homework.nightmare.she's already wobbling,so decided keep her home too to rest(student services wouldn't let her go home yest say what would be dif if at home.dd2 thought rest/sleep, calpol available, hot lemon/blackcurrant drinks but was too scared to say so!!)

D's not impressed he's only one go school today. Have promised him a Minecraft mag (had get the incentives out,his face longer than sanctuary of horses!!)

FoolandFitz · 17/01/2017 07:42

Hi.

That dahl recipe looks nice. I usually make spinach dahl but never thought of adding coconut milk to it.

cag well done on the forms. That puzzle looks too complicated for me - I don't have a logical brain.

Yesterday's ta-da:
Made bed
Put washing away
clean bathroom
cook dinner and wash up
Smartlet homework supervision
Daily tidy of living room

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Have a good day everyone Smile

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/01/2017 08:01

Aww poor DD2 zoo. Did you say the docs wanted to see her Friday if she's no better or am I making that up?

foxessocks · 17/01/2017 08:30

afresh yes 12 week jabs don't include men b so not as many jabs and the men b is the worst I think. Ds had a temperature last night but he is fine other than that (still not really sleeping but can't blame the jabs for that!!)
Zoo hope your dd is ok

Just having a cup of tea in bed before we get up for the day. Got a busy day today but hopefully will manage the missions. I definitely need to sort some socks!

CotswoldStrife · 17/01/2017 10:49

zoo, could it be glandular fever? It does sound like it and can drag on for weeks. Is she more tired than usual too? Would need a blood test to check for certain.

Recovering from the stress of yesterday, need to kick myself into action today. Back at lunchtime!

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/01/2017 11:14

Cagliostro · 17/01/2017 15:42

Aah poor lil Zoo :( it may have been the squash itself rather than the drinking before bed - DS always has water in bed with no problems but when DH gave him squash with aspartame in it he wet the bed each night until I realised! I even posted a thread on it and many MNers reported similar.

It's been a productive day really, considering I am absolutely shattered - I really thought I'd sleep better last night having had such little sleep, but nope. 🙄 A combination of having to come off meds (temporary) and ovulation pain is making me immensely grumpy.

Anyway we panic tidied 😳😳😳 for my music lesson, Caglets have done lots of learning although DS is being a tricky customer at the moment. It always seems that the moment one of them becomes easier in some way, the other becomes instantly more difficult. 😵

I should really be doing something useful but I don't wanna 😂 I have put a wash on (should be ready for the next one by now I think it's stopped) but I have to take DD to tap and do dinner and UGH just can't be bothered!!!

CotswoldStrife · 17/01/2017 15:52

Enjoying a short break before taking DD out again, cooking the tea and supervising the homework. Meh. A lot less stressful than yesterday anyway if not much more productive

You are all Star
