Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say "happy birthday" to Cag! Hope you have a good 'un! Cake Cake Cake

And top marks re: all the scrubbing!

Can't believe it but we are all ill with very odd flu/stomach bug type virus. Even dh took a day off work yesterday which is unheard of; can't sleep for sneezing/ coughing. Only just recovered from cold + gastro bug so a bit bemused to have yet more illness!

Hope everyone else is ok though and ta for links Cotswold.

Sweepingchange · 07/12/2016 03:31

Cotswold Smile at mention of Radio Times! We were only allowed to buy it at Christmas when I was young, as it was deemed too extravagant the rest of the year!

Sweepingchange · 07/12/2016 07:34

carried clothes rack through to sitting room
hung up dh shirts for ironing lady to iron
carried a load of things that were downstairs, upstairs and vice versa

Ooh I love the radio times I always buy it!

I'm just having a nice lie in with ds as dh has the day off and is taking dd out this morning. Unfortunately part of their trip out is for her to have an injection which he hasn't told her yet. I'm going to spend the next hour or two worrying about her rather than relaxing! Anyway once I've finished my tea and ds has woken up I'll get up and try and get on with stuff to take my mind off it. I know I'm being silly but I usually take her to stuff like this and it's her first injection where she will actually know what's going on iyswim. I feel like I should be going with her but as I'm breastfeeding it seemed easier for dh to go with her while I stay at home. I'm being pathetic I know!

foxessocks · 07/12/2016 08:36

Sorry cag happy birthday to you!!!

Oh zoo sorry to hear things aren't any better for you Sad . Hope your dd is okay, it is for a good cause which is what I'm telling myself as well!
Dh is on his way home with dd now , apparently she was absolutely fine , didn't really cry and they went straight to the shop afterwards for a new Thomas train and some chocolate! So I'm relieved but still worrying a bit about the after effects.

Ta das

CotswoldStrife · 07/12/2016 11:41

Hope you are having a lovely day so far Cag I am Xmas Shock at SC's accomplishments with less than half a day gone!

Injections - I found it was actually easier as they got older foxes. When they are babies they don't really know pain so being jabbed does make them scream. As a toddler, DD certainly didn't like it and cried but was easily bribed with a sticker and didn't cry for long. You just have to grit your teeth and think long term gain for short term pain. I have a female relative who hates needles and dad always got the job of taking their children for jabs because she was worried that her fear would rub off on them or make them worry!

Having said all that, I cried this morning because DD insisted she was fine to go to school and I thought she was too ill Sad so it doesn't always get easier! I would say I am a strict parent about most things and have no trouble saying 'no', but there is something about staying off school sick - making the decision - that I find hard. DD hardly ever wants to be off which doesn't help!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/12/2016 12:44

Cotswold my dd2 has had total 8daya off this school tear so far, a combo swollen ear canals(bane our existence but just triggered by colds and gp can do nothing so it's ride out pain/lack sleep/deafness,which I tend let her have odd day off), a throat bug left her barely able swallow/eat(this is the girl that explains a trip starting with the food she had!) And go apps bout ears.school breathing fire over attendance and I stuck in middleSad

Flying front-went corner shop fir polish.had none and I CBA walk any further to get some so I came home n watch daytime drivel tv as didn't feel point decent deep clean front room without any polish.I am getting very unmotivated and lazy
Shall attempt kick self up butt and produce some firm if tadah before days out!!

hrgmoo · 07/12/2016 14:15

Trying to follow this as much as I can as I need to start sorting myself out before I start a uni course in February. Unfortunately today has not been very productive with a three year old who hasn't stopped all day. Here's hoping she has an early night (or at least goes to bed when she should) and I can then improve on the single load of washing dried and put away that I have managed.

CotswoldStrife · 07/12/2016 16:24

DD managed in school, looks better than when I picked her up yesterday at least! She has something on tonight that she wants to go to, but I'll cancel tomorrow night and hopefully another good night's sleep and another shedload of calpol will see her through tomorrow as well.

foxessocks · 07/12/2016 20:18

Glad your dd is feeling better Cotswold and glad your dds jabs were ok zoo. Kids are just a non stop worry aren't they?!

I have hardly done a thing house wise today, just a few basics . We went out for the day as dh had the day off and I've had a few glasses of wine this evening so that's me done WineGrin

foxessocks · 07/12/2016 20:19

Cotswold dds jabs went much better than I anticipated according to dh so maybe you're right about babies / toddlers. Ds has his second lot of jabs next week though , he was so upset with the first lot so I've still got more to worry about!

PurpleDaisies · 07/12/2016 20:54

Not so much housework today but I have achieved a fair bit...
Stuck to the meal plan (third day in a row!) and made a really nice Spanish chicken stew. Unfortunately I forgot it served four and we were supposed to be eating it tomorrow as well. Never mind.
Painted the new plaster with the first coat of really runny paint. Ended up wearing most of it.
Removed the old mouldy sealant from four windows and reseated them.
Filled more holes and fixed some plaster cracks.
Ran the dishwasher.

I am currently lying on the sofa. Two more coats of paint for the ceiling tomorrow...tired already.

Cagliostro · 07/12/2016 23:08

Thank you all 😍❤️

I have had a really lovely day. Not least because for my present DH and Caglets adopted me a sloth at London Zoo :o YAY!!!

Now at mum's, lazy day tomorrow until we go to Southwark for the theatre in the evening.

Trying not to stress too much about looming inspection - not much more we can do really. But we did make a huge difference in the last couple of weeks. I think the biggest impact was from scrubbing the walls - funny how a few grubby marks can make such an impact!

CotswoldStrife · 07/12/2016 23:25

Cag, what a cool present! Glad to hear you had a good day. Also good to hear the jabs went well Foxes.

Welcome hrgmoo - put the washing away, you say? That's a novel idea I must try it some time Blush That is one of the worst bits of laundry for me!

Tomorrow's task is a challenging shopping one - find a plain black t-shirt with sleeves for a child. Earlier this year I had to find a black shirt or dress (which I did, but it doesn't have sleeves Angry ) and found that not many places do plain black stuff for girls. It always has a logo or glitter on. My other option is to buy a cheap white t-shirt and dye it. The kitchen may catch some collateral damage with this option, so I'm hoping not to invoke it.

I went AWOL again

Terrible for that ATM!

Was it the three year booster your dd had foxes? Mine had it about two weeks ago, she was abut mardy the following day but OK otherwise. TBH she's abut mardy sometimes anyway so it might not have even been the booster! I sold it to her by talking about how her baby brother will be having one soon too and she can help me take him and show him how to be brave.

Happy belated birthday cag

In my AWOL absence I did finally oven pride the oven. Yesterday I gave the bath a good scrub and got off all the shampoo gunk that lives where the bottles go. So I have been doing stuff just not on here and probably not enough as its still messy and things still need cleaning!

So far today I have

Put washer on
Put dryer on
Put bottles to sterilise
Fed four DC and made sure they were all dressed
Packed two DC off to school

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/12/2016 09:43

Hi all. Cotswold, my friend had to get the same for her DD this week. She looked everywhere and finally found something in Asda. Another friend got one in Lidl but that was earlier in the year. I also find Facebook quite good for stuff like that if you are on the selling pages or can put an SOS on there!

I think whatever age jabs are a bit stressful. I took DD2 for her nasal flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago and she hated it! I thought she'd be fine. Admittedly as a HCP I am pretty blase about stuff like this but she wasn't!

Ta da:-
Dishwasher and laundry on
List made for this morning

To do:-
Am on bus into town as have morning off work so must finish bulk of Xmas shopping. Was v tempted to do the last of it online as feels more productive as can get bits done at home at same time. But then there is the parcel delivery issues and after carrying a massive parcel with DD2 in tow (got weird sympathising looks from strangers!) I decided to come in.
DD2 nativity play
School run
Xmas cards
5 mins decluttering

If time:-
Change sheets
Exercise
