Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Cotswold just popping in to say I found a long sleeved black T-shirt for dd from H & M for Halloween this year.

A warm welcome to hrgmoo!

Afreshstartplease · 08/12/2016 09:58

I'm going to attempt more Christmas shopping today but mine will be online because 3 year old dd is a massive grass who has already told her brothers about one of their presents Shock

Since last post I have

Emptied dryer
Cleared and wiped worktops and table
Washed breakfast pots

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2016 10:06

The big redecoration project continues. Today's it's supposed to be two coats of ceiling painting but it's dark so I'm not sure that'll work. I'll try the first and see.
The current plan is one coat now, nice lunch out combined with my daily trip to B and Q followed by the second coat this afternoon.
I also need to paint inside some windows recesses after "d"h decided to help and damaged some paint.

The kitchen also looks like a bomb's hit it and still haven't done anything for Christmas...

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/12/2016 11:30

Oooh purple wish I had ummmph for decorating(envious)

So my tadas for yesterday.ERM cleaned out freezerBlush

CotswoldStrife · 08/12/2016 11:56

Thanks for all your advice about the black top. Asda is my go-to for this type of thing, unfortunately they didn't have her size (they do a pair of black and white t-shirts). I did think of H&M as I recall DH getting her some white t-shirts for another thing but couldn't be bothered to park in town Blush I have something I think might do the job with a bit of adaptation (I think it's going to be too long).

Been out for 3 hours though, will crack on now!

foxessocks · 08/12/2016 12:03

afresh no she isn't quite 3 yet so her booster will be next year some time I think. She had the men b jab privately because my ds just had it on the NHS but dd just missed out so thought I'd use some of her savings for it. She was a bit grumpy last night and went to bed really early but she's fine today unless you mention her plaster and then she gets upset because she doesn't want to take it off!

Also that made me chuckle about giving away surprises...my dd came in yesterday from doing a bit of shopping with dh and said "mummy we got you nice smelly bits!" Oops!

Hello to everyone else sorry I haven't quite caught up yet! Haven't done much today so far apart from toddler group and putting the dishwasher on.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/12/2016 12:38

Yes, my three year old came in from a shopping trip with DH a while ago and said "mummy, we got you a hat and scarf!". Bless them.

Ta da:-
Loads of Xmas shopping done in town
Also got jeans (my "nice" pair were no longer nice as had holes in) and socks for me (old pairs had holes).

Now on bus back, have DD2's nativity this pm so not hopeful of getting anything done but am hoping I'll manage to get home first to drop shopping bags.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/12/2016 12:59

too stress isn't it IDD as mums we end up in holey jeans, socks, tops etc but don't hesitate buy kids new bits n bobs?!

Continuing living room blitz
*DVDs dusted, checked in right boxes n put away properly.odd buts games returned boxes.
*bookcase wipe and books dusted(and those precariously balanced on top bookcase stacked so not an accident waiting to fall on me no doubt)
*dining tables relocated after clearing and wiping

Just have under dreaded table to do,the wipe chairs, floor and door frames/light switches
Smile

But I just can't seem to get the hanging to dry / folding good enough to not need any ironing. I don't have a tumble dryer maybe that's why? I just cant seem to stop myself from ironing but I have stopped ironing some of my dds t shirts and trousers and i don't iron any baby clothes (I used to!!) so maybe I can keep trying to cut down!

Kitchen bin emptied
Room rescue upstairs

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2016 17:34

zoo we moved in a couple of months ago and there are few bits that absolutely had to be sorted. It's not so much umph as necessity-I've got someone fitting blinds in three rooms tomorrow. At least my neighbours won't see so much of me now. Grin
Sadly it never got light enough for ceiling painting so I'll just have to be careful not to get any on the blinds when I do that next week. I will fe so glad when the current two projects are finished.
Ta da's
Tidied up window sealant
Painted inside frame of two windows, plus detail in the porch
Daily trip to b and q
Put away massive pile of stuff in the guest room
Planned colour scheme for living room (if you haven't discovered the dulux Visualizer app it's so much fun seeing what your walls can look like).
Mini shop
Decluttered magazines

To do
Think about tea
Move furniture for the blinds man
Rehang the wardrobe doors "helpful" dh put on upside down

foxessocks · 08/12/2016 18:14

Ta das
Hoovered and mopped kitchen
Put a few of dds toys away upstairs that usually live in our living room!
Attempted to declutter a kitchen cupboard but ended up putting a cake stand I have and will never use and wonky tray back because I didn't know what else to do with them Confused I also have an old teapot to dispose of...what do i do with it all?!

Also , very boring subject, what does everyone use to mop their kitchens? My mop has broken and I don't know what the best kind to get is. I used to use a mop and attach a floor wipe to it. Never seemed to make the floor look that clean though.

foxessocks · 08/12/2016 18:14

Also mopping is a least favourite job so anything that can improve the experience or make it quicker would be good!

Sweepingchange · 08/12/2016 18:52

Hi all, bloomin inconvenient but we are now all unwell with terrible flu. It's a strange bug, comes on really fast, and you feel bunged up but ok with energy one minute, then spark out with room spinning the next. Never seen dh looks so white (and he is hardly ever I'll) , and just got back from doc with dd who I had to prop up as I walked her in. She has a formal flu diagnosis and has been signed off for a week. Disaster in terms of end of yr exams, don't think school are going to be very happy.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Foxes I have old fashioned Vileda mop and bucket and an ancient uneven kitchen granito (sp?,) stone floor which doesn't show dirt, so prob not best person to advise! I know some fledglings of old swore by their steam cleaners though.

Newchick · 08/12/2016 21:33

Very busy day with orthodontist appt for DD, school concert this evening and trying to fit work in between...

Ta das

Sink shined and kitchen floor swept (skipped both yesterday as overslept)

CotswoldStrife · 08/12/2016 23:04

Will head for bed soon, have adapted top so should be OK. DD is now a bit brighter, so hopefully a restful-ish weekend will sort her out for the final push/week at school

Will post links, back tomorrow morning ...

Grumpy this evening. The play we had travelled to London to see was cancelled. Hopefully seeing it on a different day.

So, got to travel back home from mum's in the morning, do the last bits of tidying and cleaning - pretty much as good as it'll get now - ready for inspection. Think I may take the Caglets out for a bit rather than all being there TBH. Then at last we can start getting properly ready for Christmas :)

PurpleDaisies · 09/12/2016 11:18

There's nothing like being stuck in a room without a tv to get you moving. The guy is here fitting blinds so I've done a massive declutter on our bedroom. I found birthday cards from ten years ago, masses of dust and a twenty pound note! What should I spend it on? I feel like I've earned a treat.

foxessocks · 09/12/2016 18:10

cag that's rubbish what a shame especially on your birthday!

Purple good work! If it was me I'd buy something nice for dinner and a lot of chocolate!

I haven't had a productive day, I had good intentions but we got invited out this afternoon instead

Ta das
Dishwasher loaded
Laundry
Room rescue upstairs
Went to the shops for some supplies
Online food shop / meal plan
Dinner cooked

Need to do a bit more before dd goes to bed really as we've got some visitors tomorrow and the carpets and the bathroom are aren't really visitor ready!

Cagliostro · 09/12/2016 18:11

Nice one Purple! I would spend it on dvds or a board game personally :o

Big news here is the landlords came and were happy with the place.
