Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Is "decluttering the alcohol cupboard" a euphemism? Grin

CotswoldStrife · 05/12/2016 14:14

I wish I'd done that instead of the freezer Xmas Envy

I've been scrubbing walls today and the Caglets have done the doors. More laundry on.

Now helping DSD with her coursework which has meant I can sit down.

Both Caglets have now got their appointments through for the paediatrician, yay!

Sweepingchange · 05/12/2016 16:46

Evening all!

Comment allez-vous?

Just diving in and out to say hello to one and all!

Will it give the wrong impression if I say that our alcohol cupboard is perhaps the only place in the house that doesn't need decluttering on a regular basis Grin Blush Grin

This is very sexist thing to say but I am a bit Shock at a dh who can wrap presents Foxes! I am very admiring though! Smile Mine wouldn't know where to start - a present actually bought on time presented in a crumpled carrier bag is about the best one can expect from him at Christmas! To be fair, this is always one of his busiest times of year though! Top marks to your dh!!

If it is any consolation, Christmas is making me nervous too!
Dates in diary for entertaining (more specifically, hosting) are filling up and up and whereas I used to handle it all reasonably well, I seem to get more and more anxious as I get older, whereas it should be getting easier Confused.

I am still very "rabbit in headlights" at the prospect of what has to be done between now and 21st (when guests start arriving). And all of the stuff that is happening the week before!

Currently sorting dd presents in to two piles; one for St Nicolas tomorrow (when dc here traditionally receive their presents) and one for Christmas!

As usual, I was worried I wouldn't have enough to stretch to both, and as usual, there are plenty and its taken ages to remember where I have hidden them all.

Recovering from absolute hideous but blessedly short gastro yesterday so haven't done huge amounts as still feeling rather weak and wobbly today. Made it to our new old property and it is lovely but there is so much to be done it is ridiculous. We were meant to be able to be sufficiently organised to move in at beginning of month but everything was delayed because of legalities rumbling on and on and on ... and because vendor wanted to stay on for a bit longer too. Now it looks like we will be lucky to have it even basically habitable by Boxing Day. Actually, we'll be really pushed to do that.

On the positive front: I have found my Christmas file which contains addresses and present lists and recipes and vital info such as names of new babies of relatives and friends etc born throughout the year and everything necessary to send out cards and buy age appropriate presents etc (although have done most of my shopping now thank heavens).

Still mahoosively behind with everything domestic. House is a total pit (have done nothing save for dettol-ing door handles and taps and what have you).

And dd is under the cosh with exam prep and doesn't seem to be feeling terribly well again with sore throat and shivers.

Need to make some chicken soup ... .

Sorry - that was a total "brain splurge" and not terribly interesting again.

Hope your dd is feeling better Cotswold? There are a lot of bugs about!

Your lists look v impressive indeed Toostressy

Enjoy the take out Cag Smile Hope inspection prep is going ok.

Hope Dreamingoutloud Wombletor and all newcomers are doing ok!

x posts Cag!

Cor blimey to wall scrubbing! That is utterly exhausting when one is feeling chipper, never mind when under the weather. Well done! You definitely deserve that take out now!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2016 17:09

ERM.permission to climb back aboard?!

Well today didn't see much getting done after the scrubbing. I did a bit more laundry. And helped DSD with her work for aaages so surely racking up some Stepmum of the Year points Wink :o

Loads to do tomorrow, I haven't written a list for a while but my head is all over the place and I feel I need to. I have pupils at 10am, and after lunch we are meeting friends for a bit but I need to also fit in the following:

Carry on scrubbing
One more wash, tumble dry
Move clean clothes off stairs (will sort properly in the evening once last drying is done
List all the cleaning stuff that I can't manage/reach and crack on with what I actually CAN do
Sort out returns and post things I've sold
Sort out printer if I get a chance
Look up tickets/transport for play we are going to

Dreamingoutloud7 · 06/12/2016 07:38

Morning all,
Working today so it's just a maintain list from me to do today, still in bed as I'm on a later shift but will crack on soon.

Before work

Unload dishwasher
Load breakfast items

Wipe down kitchen

After work
Load and turn on dishwasher
Wipe down kitchen
Shine sink
Tidy lounge

Really need to start including swishing and swiping the bathroom.......

PurpleDaisies · 06/12/2016 08:26

Hi everyone,
Some bad news from the vets-our little guinea pigs kidneys haven't improved at all despite the infection clearing so she's on borrowed find (there aren't any other treatment options) so we've just got her as long as she's happy and cheerful. I'm a bit gutted but we're just making sure she has a lovely rest of her life with lots of treats and cuddles, however long that is. To look at her you wouldn't know anything's wrong, apart from being skinny.

It's an out and about errand day today followed by DIY.
To do...
Food shop
Post overseas Christmas cards at post office
Visit b and q (again)
Fix plaster and holes in porch ready for painting
Move wardrobes and tidy up painting stuff in guest room
Drop off joining forms to doctors
Coffee with a friend (yay!)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/12/2016 09:26

Purple Flowers hope you have some nice cuddles.

I am off into the city centre as have the morning off!!! So am pampering myself by looking at make up and hoping to get some nice underwear

Ta da:-
Dishwasher and laundry on
Nativity costume dropped at nursery
Spoke to DDs about starting to write our Xmas cards

To do:-
Town: underwear, make up, ideas for DH present (budget limited as I will have spent money on underwear- don't think he'll mind Grin)
If time investigate Smiggle to see what the fuss is about

Afterwards:-
Pick up DD2 from nursery
Pick up parcel from collect place
5 mins decluttering
Make to do list for tomorrow (busy day at work)
Pick up DD1 from school
Playdate with friend Smile
Xmas shopping list
Investigate Christmas mission -have done super cruise missions 1,2 and 3. Well, sort of anyway.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/12/2016 09:35

Also to do, must ring my parents about DD's presents as feel a bit ungrateful I haven't got around to doing that yet.
And 15 mins long-term job hunting type stuff.

QwertyKeyboard · 06/12/2016 10:51

Hello all. I felt like I couldn't join in until I had caught up Blush so yesterday I did the detail clean of the pitch and entrance and today I have done yesterday's and today's mission of front of the cupboards in the kitchen and sorting the cutlery draw. Will try and do a few things off the details clean plus need to declutter . Have done my morning routine though so now need to start on some of the Xmas stuff. I need to sort cards, wrap some presents and dig out the Xmas tablecloth.

Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 11:32

Well it's the last day of my twenties 😱 And I am spending it cleaning 🙄 Rock n roll life!

Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 11:37

So far we have cleaned lots, I've earned a little by teaching and now we are having lunch cooked by DH so tonight I will just do cold stuff.

Sorted out returns as well so will go to post office this afternoon after meeting friends. Then back for more cleaning and we will get all the clothes put away as I'm about to stick the dryer on.

foxessocks · 06/12/2016 12:56

Sorry about your gp purple

Happy birthday for tomorrow cag!

Ta das
Toddler group
Made lunch for me and dd (got her to eat some vegetables!)

To do
Everything!! I can't even bring myself to do a proper list although I do need to go to the supermarket for a few things. It will be a challenge to get dd to get ready and go though as she gets stroppy about boring activities like shopping now...

CotswoldStrife · 06/12/2016 13:01

I did type a message but obviously didn't press post Xmas Blush

Sorry to hear about the gp, cuddle away Purple. If we had to be up to date to be on this thread, you wouldn't be getting any links Qwerty!

Stressy the Smiggle advent calendar is a source of daily disappointment to my DD at the moment - the scented stationery is fun but avoid the calendar at all costs! Tis craptactular!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 16:28

That's a shame Cotswold what kind of stuff is in it?

CotswoldStrife · 06/12/2016 16:48

The calendar - there are threads on here about it. Very expensive and the first (and second, for us) item out of it was broken. A lot of people have reported that the last item is broken too. Smiggle is known for brightly coloured and scented stationery, yet the calendar consists of the odd bit of stationery and lots of toys that are complete tat even when they are not broken Smiggle have offered to exchange broken items so I'l have to save them up and take them with me next time I'm near a shop. Never again.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 17:38

That's so annoying :( DD loves smiggle. I thought the contents would all be little rubbers/mini highlighters etc not kinder egg toy type crap

Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 18:45

Argh! The post-cleaning-blitz pain has set in now. House looks the best it has in a while though. I've got friends here in the morning for a lesson so DH is doing the last few bits upstairs while I'm teaching, and I've got some buffet food in. Then we're off for ice cream :)

CotswoldStrife · 06/12/2016 22:24

Yay for ice cream, boo for pain Cag. If you look on youtube there are reveals for the calendar, should have checked before we bought it (that's what you get for buying early).

I used to take cheerios and raisins in a snackpot for shopping Foxes (when DD was a toddler) and end up singing CBeebies theme tunes on the way round. Dignity goes out of the window sometimes!

DD's cold is a lot worse although she is still claiming to be fit for school and various Christmas-related activities tomorrow. We'll see.

In other news, Christmas is officially approaching and I know that because I've bought the Radio Times today Xmas Grin

Links for Wednesday next.
