Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Hello
Joining and marking my placeSmile

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/12/2016 06:42

Hi everyone, welcome Womble. Thanks for links Cotswolds. Scuttl, when we were younger (about 11?) my parents stopped buying us new toys for a while as my brother and I were so entitled. It worked, a bit as we got a shock. Having said that it was not near to Christmas!

Did loads yesterday (including snap at in-laws Blush) but ran out of time to post!

Cagliostro · 04/12/2016 09:54

Achieved nothing yesterday. Today a friend is doing a tip run for us though so that's good.

Afreshstartplease · 04/12/2016 09:59

I've been AWOL again

And I've still not oven prided my oven!

We have a Christmas tree though Grin Need to put all decoration boxes away and clear clutter from surfaces in the living room so can properly enjoy it!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/12/2016 15:04

Ta da:-
CV rewritten and job hunting email drafted
Home calendar check done - need to do work calendar later
Xmas decorating started
5 mins decluttering done
2 presents bought / ordered

To do:-
Look at some more work dates
Work diary
Other things I can't remember but are on calendar!
Finish sorting nativity costume
Make plan for when DCs will write Xmas cards
Possibly the Xmas mission

Dreamingoutloud7 · 04/12/2016 15:10

Hey everyone.
Had a kind of productive day yesterday, as in finished work and got the tree up. No flying though!
Today house looks atrocious, boxes of decorations everywhere and dh won't put them back in loft until we've decorated everywhere, just need to put up outside lights and he's gone off to Tesco!
I need the boxes gone tonight so I can get the house back to semi normal asap.
To be fair I haven't helped at all, but then also to be fair I am 28 weeks pg so I think I'm allowed this year off Wink

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 04/12/2016 16:19

Stressy, we don't normally buy them toys unless for xmas and birthdays. It just so happened that bf had won something she didn't want and gave it away. On another note ds2 tried asking for a friend to have a sleepover last night and I flat out refused owing to his earlier attitude of not wanting to help out. I think he's beginning to get the you wont help me i wont help you message. Kids eh.

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 04/12/2016 16:20

Although we do do days out and such, maybe they could be curbed.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/12/2016 16:21

Oh don't worry, wasn't implying you bought too many toys!! I don't really know what the answers are, I would make millions if i did I guess Smile.

PurpleDaisies · 04/12/2016 17:15

I'm already knackered but it's been a good day for getting things done.

I've...
Moved some wardrobes
Been to church
Painted the guest room
Swept the living room
Deep cleaned the guinea pigs while they ran around the kitchen squeaking
Cleaned the kitchen floor after there were guinea pigs running around on it
Decluttered the kitchen
Planned next week's meals and made a shopping list
(Disclaimer-dh did help me with some of this).

Still no tree or present buying but the decorations are out of the attic.

I have to admit while I was painting the wall behind where the wardrobes were going to be I was contemplating the pointlessness of it all but now I've finished it looks good. I've decided to ditch the second coat and just touch up the bits that you can actually see! Valspar premium Matt emulsion is lovely paint and almost one coat anyway.

Tonight we're having mulled wine and mince pies with neighbours so I'm saving myself £10 and unintentionally doing a pamper mission by plucking my eyebrows. I feel I have earned a very nice glass of wine.

Cagliostro · 04/12/2016 19:22

Managed to fill a large boot with stuff for the tip, not really an achievement as it's all stuff we had already decided to ditch, still it was good to see it all go and get the space back.

Started bathroom cleaning today. Still a way to go.

Cagliostro · 04/12/2016 19:24

I feel like Christmas is on hold until the landlords have been. I reallly want to wrap presents, decorate etc but it's not the priority just yet.

Oh we also put a load of posters up in the Caglets' room so that's tidied things up a bit.

I am massively craving a takeaway, I might just make it a reward for doing more cleaning this evening...

Dreamingoutloud7 · 04/12/2016 19:41

Got a bit more done this evening so i'll go to bed happy later

Ta das
Hoovered lounge
Dusted lounge
Decoration boxes away
Dishwasher loaded
Kitchen wiped down
Sink shined

To dos
Put on dishwasher before bed
Bath

Hopefully if we keep to a somewhat routine we won't have that mad clean up to do on Xmas eve!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/12/2016 21:14

Ta da:-
Work dates
Work email sent
Other email drafted
Nativity costume

To do:-
Check calendar for other bits to do
Before bed routine
Tiny bit of paperwork
Collapse!

Enjoy your takeaway Cag

CotswoldStrife · 04/12/2016 21:29

Welcome to Wombletor, good to have you with us. I haven't done that much today, been out and had lunch - not as impressively hard-working as the rest of you here! There is always tomorrow ...

DD feeling a bit poorly today, denied being anything less than one hundred percent until she had attended her Christmas-celebration-of-the-day . She seems shattered, might need a day's rest tomorrow! She has a terrible cough though, will keep an eye on her temperature tonight/tomorrow.

Well I resisted the takeaway.

But I also resisted the cleaning.

foxessocks · 05/12/2016 10:18

Morning all! I have just been catching up on the weekend posts. I went out this weekend for the first time since ds was born without either children! Consequently my dd didn't have any clean clothes this morning and we've run out of milk...we were out all day yesterday too doing some Christmas shopping.

On the other hand dh did wrap loads of our presents last night and the decorations are up.

Ta das
Dishwasher emptied and loaded
Washing hung up and put away
Washing on
Rubbish out to bins
Room rescue bedrooms

Just deciding what to do next although will probably end up doing nothing then wondering where the morning went!

Dreamingoutloud7 · 05/12/2016 10:39

Morning all
foxes good on dh getting some wrapping done, I really need to start, not leaving it to Xmas eve like last year!

Ta das
Made bed
Emptied dishwasher
Loaded breakfast items into dishwasher

To do
Quick clean of bathroom
Change bedding
Laundry

Currently lying on the bed deciding what to do next and all I want to do is nap!

CotswoldStrife · 05/12/2016 10:55

Cag, consistency there - although I do think you could have caved over the takeaway.

I am not a fan of - or skilled at - wrapping, so it tends to be a last-minute job for me too. We have not put any decs up yet, will buy the (real) tree next weekend. Might have to get some out of the loft tonight as DD is itching to get going and she has a tree you can just put up and plug in for her room!

This morning, I have cleared out the freezer a bit. More chicken in there than I thought, but also much mystery meat which has gone into the food recycling to be collected this morning. I suspect some of it was last year's turkey and ham bagged into portions for pies Xmas Blush I really should keep a list of what's in there for menu planning purposes, although it has helped with this week's menu planning (here's a clue - chicken in all it's various forms features heavily).

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 11:04

Maybe tonight then for the takeaway :o

I had a great lie in this morning but feel all groggy now. Woke up to the smell of bleach as DH is scrubbing away. I'd ordered a Tesco delivery with lots of cleaning stuff.

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 11:05

Oh I love wrapping though. I do fancy things with ribbons and stuff

foxessocks · 05/12/2016 11:25

My dh does all our wrapping he is so much better at it than me! I only wrap his presents up usually on Christmas eve and dh complains I shouldn't leave it to the last minute! Will try and be more organised this year.

Well I didn't get anything else done apart from emptying the nappy bin , got to collect dd from nursery now and ds has fallen asleep on me so got to somehow get him into the buggy without waking him up.

foxessocks · 05/12/2016 13:29

Ta das
Decluttered alcohol cupboard! Found some champagne for Christmas time!
Went to the bottle bank
Got milk
Made lunch for me and dd
Hung some washing up
Found some nice candle holders while decluttering as well. Also found an old mop and bucket that I need to get rid of but it needs to go the the tip really which is definitely a job for another day. It never ends does it?!

I'm not decluttering in the right room but never mind at least I'm decluttering something as I haven't done much recently. Christmas is making me nervous!

I have had to stop AGAIN because of grumpy unsettled ds. And have put the dreaded peppa pig on for dd.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/12/2016 14:00

Love the idea of decluttering an alcohol cupboard Grin.

Hi everyone:-

Ta da:-
Laundry in progress
Dishwasher
Was in for one parcel delivery - hopefully will catch the next one today too
Pampering: flicked through a magazine and did not feel guilty about it Smile - DD2 looked at the pictures with me
Exercise DVD
Decluttered a couple of old gift cards I found - was hoping for riches but instead there was about £1.30 on them. Better than nothing I suppose!

To do:-
Washing machine just finished so need to sort that
Empty dishwasher
More laundry
Pick up DD2 from school
Bit of studying later
Before bed routine
Xmas shopping list (will I ever make this?!)
Plan when to write Xmas cards (ditto)
Buy batteries if poss
Phone my parents to discuss Xmas presents for DDs as they are stressing about what to get.
