Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

May I ask how you all got started after the sink cleaning etc? Do you just follow the emails?

Newchick · 28/12/2016 19:24

Bassetmum I've been on this thread for a couple of months now and I'm sure someone who knows what they're talking about will give you a better answer than this! But here's what I'm doing -
In first month I built up to a daily minimum routine which involves shining sink, sweeping kitchen floor, 5 mins on hot spots, and 10 mins in bathrooms/loos. I also looked at the 'home blessing hour' and worked out a week's worth of cleaning jobs for each day eg washing kitchen floor. I nearly always do the daily routine, the weekly ones maybe 50% of the time?!
In my second month I added 15 mins decluttering a day. I've been truly gobsmacked how much I've got done this way.
Do whatever suits you best and gets you doing a bit more than before! Good luck!

Cagliostro · 28/12/2016 19:44

I have washed some bedding. That is the sum of today's achievements!

Oh except I am working on my blog a bit.

CotswoldStrife · 28/12/2016 19:54

If you can get the place decluttered (which is what Flylady recommends before doing any detailed cleaning) then I find the missions great at keeping up with things. When I was selling a property, keeping up with the missions really helped cover all the bases.

I'm back at the needing to declutter stage though Smile I need a mix of Kondo to dispose of stuff and then Flylady to keep it up afterwards. Although even decluttering for 15 mins a day really helps or if a room/area is a bit daunting, take two or three things out a day and store/throw.

Blog, Cag? PM me a link I love blogs!

Hi all!
basset don't follow the emails??!!you will be drowning in her twee "motivations" stick with us
Wink
Like others have said.bit decluttering everyday and build routine in.keep on top laundry has been great help for me.as is missions each week help me do bits n bobs I wouldn't think to(ie clean top door frames, like I'd bother with that if not told to (slattern alert))
Its the whole routine of do little bits that on paper don't look much, but it does come together and the days of not be able find clean pair socks on a school day or homework that was done and got buried under pile other "stuff" seems s long time agoSmile

Sleeping in most morning, now almost 11 and I'm still in my pyjamas (no visitors expected though, if you are following the other thread!) and haven't had any breakfast.

Will be out this afternoon, think we need a tip trip (no rubbish collections of general waste FOR A MONTH at Christmas, yes I'm bitter) before seeing the panto. So still got a few hours to make progress.

Please pass any motivation this way, will swap for chocolate.

Muppetslikecoco · 29/12/2016 11:37

Cotswold a month!? That's ridiculous, I would be screwed if that happened to us. Two sets of nappies sitting outside for a month (can't drive so couldn't get them to the tip).

Feeling very motivated this morning.

Dressed
Breakfast
Tidied kitchen
Went round and collected recycling
Took rubbish out (now feeling thankful for this)
Put washing in WM and dryer
Dressed DS
Made beds

To do
Put dry washing away
Make lunch
Tidy living room
15 minute declutter living room
Vacuum living room and playroom
Vacuum upstairs
Fold up pushchair
Empty all the bins

PurpleDaisies · 29/12/2016 11:39

I have three big boxes of cadburys roses to share. It counts as decluttering...

Seeing family all day today so all I've managed is to load the dishwasher and turn it on. I've booked five test drives for tomorrow while on the road (dh is driving). The short list turned out not to be so short after all!

Afreshstartplease · 29/12/2016 12:23

Can any of your neighbours take excess rubbish? An elderly person on their own maybe if you offer to put the bin out for them?

The amount of bitching and bickering in this house today is unreal. DC1 is not being very nice to anyone else. He's going on a playdate later and TBH doesn't deserve to go but I am hopeful that him having a break from the house will result in him being more pleasant

So far I've

sorted out the rubbish
Emptied dryer
Folded washing
Reloaded dryer
Filled sink
Cleared and wiped one worktop
Made DC tidy toys back under the tree

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 29/12/2016 12:27

Hi all sorry I've not been on, been busy. House is horrific, dishwasher broke for a few days, kids are happy with their gifts so that's the main thing. looking at getting routines together for the new year. And of course all the new year resolutions.

Afternoon everyone,

Welcome to Basset - I don't actually shine my sink, my equivalent is making our bed. The whole idea is that it is a task to instantly make a visual difference to the look of your home, to kick start the day/get ready for the morning. We each have our own 'thing' that kicks us into gear household wise.

Today is clearly the day for tip - runs!
Yesterday DH and I dismantled a huge flat pack wardrobe that will not be moving with us and he has just loaded it up and taken it to the tip.

I also have several boxes of charity shop donations, including my wedding dress, to take in the next day or two.

I am getting very twitchy about not actually packing anything. It's very difficult to completely delegate this gargantuan task to others at the eleventh hour!!
