Housekeeping

My house/Zoflora

Posting here for traffic.
My house is a bit horrid. I have pets and a messy DH (who does get on board when I have a proper 'spruce' but doesn't notice the daily grime). I can keep on top of genuine rubbish but clutter builds easily. I know nobody can sort this out for me and I am working on it.
What bothers me most is smell. Although it's clean ish, it doesn't smell fresh. I do open windows for a bit every day.
I bought some miracle potion Zoflora yesterday and already mop the floors with it. I want to know what I can do with it as almost like a reed diffuser/air freshener?
I don't put the heating on much (have a log burner) so don't think putting it on radiators would work. I do hoover relatively regularly so can try the cotton wool trick. Anything else I could try? Is it really safe to spray on curtains? Any other tips for a pet household for smell? Thanks in advance!

I use it in the washing machine with the towels and sports kits.

I put a drop in the steam mop.

Put some down the plug holes.

I've got some quite diluted in a spray that I use to damp dust with.

The twilight one is the best I think but it might have been limited edition and now the horrible winter spice is back so I'll be back to linen for a while now!

I have had a mad 20 mins zofloraing! Done the curtains and a throw that can't go in the machine. Sprayed the cushions and the carpets. Just put some shake n vac on the rug so will vac it up and clean vac with more zoflo getting the lingo now
Then it's upstairs to the worst offending room. I'm going to do the reed diffuser and spray the fabrics, and wipe down any surfaces with it.
I don't think DH would like the idea of using it in the cages (we have vet grade disinfectant but it hardly smells of fresh linen!) but I'll try soaking cotton wool and putting it somewhere warm, and out of reach of course.
I pray my house smells nice by the end of the day. Or at least not unpleasant anymore!

Bin tips? Was thinking about cleaning it out, letting it dry then a piece of kitchen roll in the bottom with a few drops on?
Fucking flies are the bane of my life

Im going to get the christmas one next. I don't like linen either, i like Hyacinth or Green Valley.
Green Valley smells like a perfume i used to wear but i can't work out what it is.

I use it in the odd wash (things like blankets. I use it in a spray to clean the work top, skirting etc, soak the cloths in and in my hoover filter. I feel I'm missing a trick with it and could use it more.

How do you do the reeds?
I did one and it just went brown and stank horribly!!

I've got the winter spice, love it and the linen one. I usually just use it to mop the floors but am going to try some of these ideas.

flipflops I just dilute it with water about 50/50 then stick the reeds in 😊

I always read these zoflora threads with too much interest and then forget to ever look for any in the shops. This has reminded me. I adore a good smelling house and ours currently smells mostly of nappies.

Zoflora on windows, eh?

Never thought of that. Will give it a go.

I use a bit in the machine when I wash the dog's bedding. And for hard floors. I don't go mad with it; I think it can be a bit overpowering sometimes.

Using it neat in the toilet/bathroom definitely keeps it smelling fresh for a good day or two.

You can pick up the small bottles for £1 in pound stretcher. Not all the scents though.

I wipe down door frames so it smells nice when you enter a room and also wipe bulbs with it so they smell nice when they get warm.

Every morning I fill one sink with fairy to wash up the breakfast stuff and fill the other with a cupful of zoflora and hot water. I then wipe down the sides and leave brushes, sponges etc soaking in there until the water goes cold. Makes the kitchen smell lovely. I also pour it down the sinks and toilets.

It goes in every towel and bedding wash which I leave to dry on the banisters which smells divine.

I mop with zoflora every day.

I'm a bit obsessed with zoflora.

If you use it in the washing machine, do you use it instead of washing liquid or conditioner or as well as? Do you put it in drum or dispenser please.
Can I spray my dogs bedding with it? I don't suppose I can spray the dog!
Thanks.

It shouldn't go near pets, no.

AlwaysLookOnBrightsideOfLife · 20/10/2016 13:50

I used it in the washing machine to wash the pets bedding. May have used too much though as the entire house ended up smelling of it. Blush Least the place smelled nice though.

You use it in the fabric conditioner bit in the drawer

You can use it with pets as long as it's dry- they can't touch it when it's wet and been diluted with water as its one of those formulas that goes cloudy like dettol. So if you use it to mop make sure it's dry before animals go on it

I have tried Zoflora. I have the apple orchard and the hyacinth. The smell is so over powering! It makes me feel a bit ill.

Are there any other ones that are nicer? I'm now using dettol spray or method grapefruit spray as the smell is a bit more subtle. The febreeze plug in air freshners are quite good as well.

Try linen cellar, it's quite a clean smell iyswim, less floral. Also if it's too potent try watering it down a little more, then you just get a hint of the fragrance and it still cleans and freshens just aswell. And the bottle lasts longer!

I use it in the carpet cleaner when I can be arsed to clean the carpets. I use it in my.mop bucket, for cleaning the kitchen, skirts and woodwork and wiping down radiators.

I use it in the water when I wipe the sofas down and use it in the bathroom.

I also chuck it in the washing machine if doing trainers.

The cheapest place I buy it from is B & M. They do a big bottle for £4.

I luffs zoflora. I sometimes wish I could pour it neat up dps arse to make his facts smell of linen and not man fart.
