Wow this is such an amazing thread with all your round-ups Grey.

Ta da:-
Before bed routine!!!!! Find it so much easier when I do bits throughout the day to prepare for tomorrow. Must figure out a way to achieve this on work days.

To do:-
Stop faffing on phone!
Birthday cards
15 mins on portfolio
Watch rubbish telly
Make preparation list for DD1's bday.

Cagliostro · 17/09/2016 22:00

Love my round-up thanks Grey :o

Wash seems to have finished so must get that in the dryer.

Currently trying to figure out iTunes and transfer apps and suchlike. This kind of stuff stresses me out bigtime. We've had Apple products before and then went a while without, but recently got a used iPhone so I'm wanting to get that all figured out and delete all the crap stuff and the apps that are no longer relevant (phonics etc). My appstore purchase list is like a microcosm of my house - a cluttered mess!

Cagliostro · 17/09/2016 22:01

Oh I did manage to make a nice dinner though - pasta with frozen mixed veg and a creamy tomato and bacon sauce, le yum.

8FencingWire · 18/09/2016 08:14

I worked yesterday, which means two things: the housework hasn't been done and I will have a bit more money next month. Actually, it also means I am shattered. So I am having coffee in bed after banishing the kitten out, after brekkie he goes a bit mad and wants to play. Not today kitty, sorry.

Thank you for the round up :) a delight to read, as alwaysFlowers

Righto.

Once I finish my coffee I need to quickly whizz around the house, shouldn't take long, I'll do 15 min in each room. I have 4 rooms (including the bathroom) and a hallway. DD'd bedroom is the messiest though. Then I'll hoover.
Then I am making flapjack and a brownie, got friends for coffee this pm.
Have a relaxing Sunday everyone.

fromwesttoeast · 18/09/2016 09:28

Thanks for the round up Grey.
Last night I managed a declutter of the top section of one of the wardrobes. It was after 10pm but thought I just should get on and have something done that day!
This morning I've cleaned out chicken coop and ironed. Now about to start work for a few hours.
Hope to manage a bit more flying later this afternoon.

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 11:04

Saw DSD's uni house today thanks to FaceTime :)

DD is in a mood with me because I won't let her keep a little chair that's so rotten DS just put his foot through it! Those chairs are too small for them anyway TBH and they are just one more thing to keep tripping over! So tough luck.

8FencingWire · 18/09/2016 11:15

The whole house is tidy, dusted, hoovered. The next thing is to zoflora the life out of everything, grab a shower and wander down into town for a couple more shirts and a lunchbox for DD.
I had a massive 'brunch', 3 weetabix, yoghurt, a banana and a chopped apple, drizzled with agarve syrup. I'm skipping lunch, but there's cake in the afternoon :)

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 14:26

Right. Gathered all of the laundry and got another load on, when it's all dry the Caglets are going to get ALL their clothes out and sort through them so hopefully we can get rid of some. We are about to start teddies - this is not going to be easy!

Well done 8 save some cake for me please :o

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 16:50

Third wash on, dryer on for the second time (first time was with yesterday's washing Blush), some grotty teddies chucked and nicer ones bagged for charity/reception teacher friend.

And I've decided what to do for dinner (chickeny ricey tomatoey thing) rather than leaving it til late.

I'm having a sit down every now and then with a puzzle app as a reward. Really struggling to know how much to do without pushing myself too far and risking flare up.

Greymalkin · 18/09/2016 17:11

Afternoon Fledglings, hope you are all having a good weekend.

Glad my round-ups are enjoyed. I remember quite a while back now that they were done fairly regularly, and I always found them to be really helpful for catching up with everyone and not forgetting anybody. So as we have so many lovely new members this month, I though it might be handy to resurrect.

Crikey 8 you have been busy!!

Fromwest, great job on just seizing the moment to declutter. I often find that happens too.

Cag good luck with getting the Caglets to declutter. After all, if the want any Christmas gifts they need to make some space don't they?!

TooStressy great to hear you are whittling away at that before bed routine. Most importantly, are you finding that it makes a positive difference to your mornings?

Achievements for today:

  • Finished another massive chunk of Freud reading (whilst muttering darkly about his attitude towards women)
  • Dishwasher on
  • One load of laundry done and hung up to dry
  • Folded and put away heap of clean laundry
  • Made beds x2 including a change of sheets for DS

Still to do:

  • Finish online registration for Uni
  • Pay tuition fees
  • Look into getting a Uni parking permit
  • Hand washing up (thanks DH for never ever washing up saucepans and wooden spoons, after all, the fairies come and do it Hmm)

We have also started a very gently-does-it approach to potty training with DS. He has been mega resistant up until now and we can't really put it off much longer as he is almost 4. So we bought an enormous bundle of playmobil people and accessories on eBay to use as 'potty prizes'. So far he has managed to sit fully clothed on the potty several times (massive achievement) and once taking his trousers down but keeping nappy on. It is going to be a very long journey....

Posting links now whilst it is on my mind:

Chocolate Cake Biscuit Chocolate Cake Biscuit

Links for Monday 19th September: Here is the Launch Pad with all the basic information.

Baby step number nineteen: something about reading one of her testimonials (I wouldn’t bother with this one….)

Monday focus is the beloved [snort] home bleugh Essentially spending 10 minutes each on seven key areas of housework. Do not get sidetracked – this does NOT mean clean your entire home to show home standard.

We have now moved into Zone 4, The Master Bedroom aka, The Boudoir. Spend 15 minutes decluttering here. If you have finished decluttering here is the detailed cleaning list

The first mission this week is spend 15 minutes removing anything from the room that does not belong there

Our habit of the month is establishing a Before Bed Routine This is actually a really good habit to develop, as many of us can vouch for.

And a little bonus feature for this month: FlyLady's back to school tips

Thanks Grey yes we did mention that to the Caglets - they don't have room for toys! They are also getting a cut of any money from sold toys which has definitely helped. :)

Good luck with the potty training! I definitely found that it was better to wait rather than push it too early.

DH is off the next two days - we've got a couple of sports/piano teaching commitments but otherwise hoping to get some more decluttering done.

pontificationcentral · 18/09/2016 20:58

Yay - the bedroom zone! I can see mine is getting clearer!

Surprise dinner didn't happen on Friday, to my eternal relief. But is happening tonight and no longer a surprise, so all good. I have pointed dh at the grocery store and he is going to barbecue. Result. Hope your dinner went well, sc, was it last night?

Cag, the science club is amazeballs. They actually compete in the iGem program (international genetically engineered machine, I think - something like that). It's dd1's third year on the team and they travel to Boston next month for the science jamboree. They are relatively unusual in that they work out of a home-made lab in their high school, not a university professional lab. They make all their own gear (centrifuges out of drills and all sorts) so to actually get scientifically valid results is fab.

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 22:09

I wish I knew pont

Wow that's amazing re: science, what a fabulous achievement! Star

Achieved far more than is usual for me today :) so we got rid of some cuddlies (still more to sort through but some decisions made so that's progress) and we've been through almost all the Caglets' clothes - carrier bag to chuck, pile to give to a couple of friends with younger kids, and some patterned clothes added to the fabric stash (which we will sort out properly in time for when DD does her designer badge at Brownies next month - they've asked for fabric donations)

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 22:10

Tomorrow it's books! DD looked at me in horror when I suggested it but I reassured her it's only picture books - we must have at least 100 and for the most part we stick to chapter books now. Growing up :( so trying to ditch some that aren't read so much.

pontificationcentral · 19/09/2016 00:07

Books are the one thing I can't part with. Grin I feel her pain.

Much success this afternoon - dh put a few of my to do's on the ta da list without me asking (result!) and so I got a spare twenty minutes on my hands and knees in the hallway wiping down paintwork and cleaning the trim. Brown dog has a bizarre periodic sneezing affliction that means she sprays blood droplets at high velocity without warning. We have cream walls. Nuff said.

I'm trying a test. I'm pretty sure my iPad/ phone are listening to me. Today fb has been suggesting incomprehensibly contextual 'you may be interested in' pages that are linked to conversations I have been having, rather than posts I have made or Internet searches done. Hmmm.

outputgap · 19/09/2016 00:20

Hallo. Just delurking to say that your posts are much easier to understand and follow than the fly lady website or emails, Greymalkin. Thank you!

foxessocks · 19/09/2016 09:34

Laundry
Tidy toys up
Rubbish from upstairs
Glasses from upstairs
Ring health visitor

Start some fly lady stuff!

celeste83 · 19/09/2016 10:00

Morning all,

Another weekend over too quickly. I really hate Mondays. Such a comedown after family time at the weekend. Even the weather is miserable this morning after the sunny weather over the weekend. I'm a glass half empty person when it comes to Mondays unlike you Grey who sounds bushy tailed and bright eyed with your Happy Monday greeting Grin Thanks for the round-up though. That one went over my head when i logged on last night tucked away at the bottom of the page. I only saw it this morning when i re-read the thread. Must take you ages trawling through the weeks posts what with the amount of regular users on here. Its fun to read though. I don't have a scanner so it would be difficult to upload my artwork i think plus i'm also super shy at showing off my artwork

Well done with the brutal decluttering Cag Its the only way to keep on top of it all to have a mass clear out especially with the 'c' word fast approaching.

We're in the midst of arranging primary school visits for ds Zoo we're hoping we can get him into the primary school in my mil's village. It has quite small class sizes which i think ds needs to have one to one attention with his speech difficulties. I was worried that we wouldn't be in the catchment but the school seem optimistic. We have a couple of other schools in mind too as back up but they are in the town.

This week's zone should be a doddle for me. Our bedroom is like the most decluttered room in the house. I hate a busy cluttery bedroom so everything is already in its cupboard. We don't even have any picture frames, or anything on the bedside tables Blush However under the bed there is an array of storage boxes, mainly full of my shoes Blush

Today i need to do the weekly food shop. I think thats why i am in such a grump this morning Angry Right best get cracking on, slow start here this morning. Beds not even made or breakfast dishes washed yet.

Sorry for ranty post Grin

Greymalkin · 19/09/2016 10:54

Take it steady lady, you don't want to burn out. How are these early new baby days going for you?

Celeste Its a happy Monday for me as after a fraught weekend with a tetchy DS, he is at nursery today, so I feel as though I have room to breathe. Good luck with the primary school searches.

More Ta da's

  • Made two beds
  • Hung up wet washing
  • Put DS's duvet in machine to wash
  • Read 30 pages or so of Freud
  • Hoovered up DH's hair cut trimmings Angry

Here is something that we can all have a giggle over (and I quote Freud exactly): She presented the picture...of what might be called the 'housewife psychosis'...occupied all day long in cleaning the house with it's furniture and utensils and in keeping them clean - to such an extent to make it almost impossible to use or enjoy them. Can anyone here claim to be a psychotic housewife?!?!?

OP posts:
foxessocks · 19/09/2016 11:01

Haha that did make me smile! I hope I'm not a psychotic housewife!

Ta das
Rung health visitor and found out she is coming today...which is a nuisance but there we go. Good job I called anyway!
Rang hospital as my dd has been booked in for a scan and I'm not sure why as the doctors never told me about it. They told.me to ring the gp but they are permanently engaged so not getting very far with this one.

Hung up washing and put more on
Quick tidy of downstairs and upstairs
Quick clean of bathroom
Picked up the rubbish and the cups from upstairs

To do
Start a fly lady task!

It's going ok grey first day without dh here to help out but the morning went well until dd started crying at drop off! I am spending a lot of time with my feet up feeding the baby but he asleep now and not on me so might as well take the opportunity to do something productive! Not got long before I need to pick up dd so think I'll start the home bleugh...is that what it's called? I don't like hoovering though I tend to let my dh be in charge of that so can I delegate it to him later?! I'll make a start with something else!

Does ironing ever come into fly lady by the way or do I need to fit that in slmewhere myself? I'm notoriously bad at putting it off as I hate it and I hate having to get the ironing board out etc it just annoys me!
