to ask what household crap brings you joy?

In the vein of KonMari and inspired by the £200 bin. I feel the need to know what else I'm missing out finding joy from otherwise boring yet necessary household crap

I don't have the iron station yet but think it would make my heart sing compared to tripping over how my ironing board iron and laundry is currently stored

Please share yours

I use Pinterest Candy, is Oubterest an autocorrect?? Confused that's a good idea, I do love a bit of pinning! I have secret boards for present ideas for friends and family and I have another for things I can make, some also as potential homemade presents.

I don't really use the Christmas board on here, I never really think of looking at it tbh! I'll check it out Smile

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 02/04/2016 12:24

The tiles in my bathroom. I knew what I wanted, but couldn't find them anywhere...lots & lots & lots of tile shopping later I found them. One of the tile shops had just got a new range in. Perfect. Mid range, not pricey. They're just what I wanted.

Slight downside is the tile fitter didn't do the best job so there are little bits that annoy me.

but I love stroking them

candykane25 · 02/04/2016 12:24

Yes excited bloody autocorrect!

It's a bit quiet in Christmas at the moment but picks up from June ish. I've already got loads of Christmas presents in the Christmas cupboard. I also have a set of drawers just for wrap, cards, tags and accessories :)

Excited101 · 02/04/2016 12:27

Here's some of my best bits here- card book, gift wrap box and squeegee outself

I yearn for a steam cleaner - think how clean my sofa and mattresses could be!

I also want a jet washer for the yard and a label maker and sectioned container for my cross stitch thread.

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 02/04/2016 12:32

Sonos sound system
Lakeland expandable cutlery and utensil trays to make the kitchen drawers all tidy
I am so excited about our impending white goods renewal too!

KoalaDownUnder · 02/04/2016 12:35

This thread is like middle-aged lady catnip.

Grin X lots

bananafish81 · 02/04/2016 12:44

Does '34 but have been lusting over Lakeland porn for the last 10 years and found one of the most exciting things about buying our first house was the opportunity to fill it with useless essential Lakeland crap stuff' count?!

Paffle · 02/04/2016 12:48

I like Command adhesive storage and hooks etc. I have a pencil pot stuck on the wall by my breakfast bar and a pot for scissors stuck high on the wall so the kids can't track them. I also have a waterproof one in the shower. Brilliant so don't need to use screws and nails and stuff.

VoldysGoneMouldy · 02/04/2016 12:55

We had a utility room in our old house. Still annoyed at the landlord for dying, miss that room.

We use old chests of drawers for storage of 'stuff'. Means it's nice and organized. Also use old wardrobes in the garage with shelves in for other things.

Nice sharp kitchen knives. Not ££££ ones, but sharp, flat bladed, brightly coloured.

This thread is brilliant! As for middle aged catnip... I've only just gone 24!

ghostyslovesheep · 02/04/2016 13:37

koala it's a lazy spa Miami - easy to put up and take down and maintain- it was my present to myself when I purchased our house last year - house was a tip and needed lots of building work - it was my escape!

mithy · 02/04/2016 13:40

It's old lady catnip too.

I love my Dyson cordless so much I'm thinking of getting a Dyson fluffy to keep it company.

RudeElf · 02/04/2016 13:41

My old hotpress used to bring me immense pleasure Blush

It was walk in and just the right size for my tower airer to fit in with space to get past to the shelves. I had my dehumidifier in there. Would hang my washing at night, go to bed and it would mostly be dry by morning. I had developed a system for how to hang things to get the best drying result. I never had to worry about hanging laundry on radiators around the house.

Then i moved house Sad (house is ten times better but i miss my hotpress)
New one is much smaller and a very innefficient layout for hanging space. One massive water tank and two stupid small ones higher up Hmm I get maybe two t-shirts, a pair of jeans and some underwear hung up and thats it. I am planning on purchasing some tension rods to create extra hanging levels to see if i can somehow get all my laundry in there. I'm sick of seeing it all round the house.

CAN SOMEONE TALK TO ME ABOUT SQUEEGEES

Throwingshadeagain · 02/04/2016 14:01

Sorry I got really overexcited and googled them and now want to know do they get out limescaley cloudy shower screen shit???? Or would I still have to scrub? Do you just use a normal spray with them? Sorry to be thick. This is a whole new world to me.

ClarenceTheLion · 02/04/2016 14:03

I've been umming and ahhing over the thought of spending £90 on a metallic mint Brabantia. But it would bring me more joy than any other bin...

RudeElf · 02/04/2016 14:09

throwingshade

Spray lemon juice on shower screen and leave it then with a micro fibre cloth and some salt on it scrub the screen. Give it a real elbow grease job so its all clear. Rinse then use a product called rain X. Spray on and rub off with a dry cloth. Then every time you have a shower, rinse the screen after and squeegee water off. You wont need to scrub anything if you do that.

Throwingshadeagain · 02/04/2016 14:15

Thanks v much Rudeelf, but that all sounds like a bit of a faff and involves lots of products and items I don't own! lemon juice as in squeeze loads of lemons into a spray container? So i've just realised the squeegee is just to dry the water so you don't get as many watermarks...?

RudeElf · 02/04/2016 14:21

Yes the squeegee just takes the water off. If you havent cleaned the dirt adhered to the screen firstbthen you'll still have a cloudy screen.

RumbleMum · 02/04/2016 14:23

Excited could you please share your three bag system if I promise not to patent it? I'm just packing to go on holiday. Smile
