Woo hoo! It's the second Bullet Journal thread! For the benefit of newbies - Bullet Journal is a brilliant way to organise your whole life in a lovely notebook. Perfect for anyone who has tried every app and every scheduling system but just can't seem to get on top of things. Also perfect for lovers of beautiful stationery and especially for people who like lists!

Sooo - get out your fineliners and your washi tape! Stroke your Leuchtturms! And get all that stuff that's whizzing round in your head out onto paper instead!

Just finished August weekly layouts...slightly late, lol.

Anyone else still using their bujo ?

prokupatuskrakedatus · 03/08/2016 09:01

Me! I've tested a 'my book flex' but it doesn't work for me.
I tried only using my phone but Google has its own ideas about synchronization and when to show me my appointments and tasks.
So I'm back to paper (green this time) started with the end of our school year. So far it works, that is - I get more things done than before but I'm still far from organized (I am organized at work, but I don't seem able to transfer this skill, habit or whatever it is to my own time.)

moggle · 04/08/2016 10:13

I've fallen out of love a little bit with my BuJo too. I have never done daily spreads or journalling in it - I used it as a weekly diary with extra space for lists. (I do the future plan and monthly spreads too).
However most of the lists rarely get referred back to - most of them are just brain dumps to help clear my mind when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by stuff. Then I get annoyed that I have to wade through lists to find the diary pages, and I am getting fed up of drawing up the weekly pages each week.
So I'm moving to a separate diary, and will just keep the current BuJo (a Leuchturm 1917) as a lists book. I think it'll still help me stay organised as everything will still be in one place. The key lists that I refer to frequently will be added into my diary - there really aren't many of these. The list of childcare for Thursdays when DD is not at nursery; the list of what's in the freezer; a few others. Everything else can stay at home.
The next question is which diary to buy ... I got some great suggestions on the UK Bullet journal FB page and after dithering for a while have bought a paperchase filofax type organiser, and have plans to print my own inserts based on the BuJo weekly layout I came to like the best, with space for meal plans on each day, space for me to write work meetings down, and boxes for weekly to do list and 'next week'. BuJoing has got me very fussy about layouts and I'm hoping that a bit of time spend working on the laptop will pay dividends in the future. I just wish the organiser was a little less bulky for the paper size you get but ah well!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/08/2016 10:19

I have temporarily stopped bujoing for a bit because I got a 100 day Happiness Planner to focus on my weight loss, but it's not working and also all the little jobs are getting on top of me so might go back to BuJo. But now I have a half used Happiness Planner! Doing both at once is too much duplication.

building2016 · 05/08/2016 12:34

So I'm not doing BuJo proper but I am enjoying following a lot of the principles. I bought a WH Smith page a day academic year diary and it had a fair few unused pages. So I've treated those as my subject /list/reference/habit tracker pages (with an index) and the rest as calendar/log pages. I'm enjoying putting tasks and events on the same pages PHYSICALLY instead of trying to do everything on my phone. I'm also doing things like noting down Bible verse of the day, funny things that happened, etc on the day page since there is quite a lot of room. So far so good.

Babieseverywhere · 06/08/2016 23:52

I am loving my BuJo so much. That I now have an new cheap A5 Notebook with 37 pages of planning and information for our camping holiday, later in the summer !

I can't make my mind up if this is super sad or super organised. But it is making for a lot less stress for me. As everything I need is written down in one place and I have loads of day trip details written down, so no worry when I have no wifi access :)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/08/2016 08:42

It's not super sad babies! Grin it's super cool.

I have just been to review my Megalist and the ink has faded, I guess because I used frixion ink!!!!!! Bah. Just goes to show I should have got everything done by now then this wouldn't matter!

Set up August & the coming week last night, after a month or 2 off, and I already feel sooooo much better and there's way fewer things crashing around my head 😍

Babieseverywhere · 07/08/2016 11:50

Shove your book or that page in the freezer and all the words show up again...plus any mistakes !

I am trying to move to real ink pen fir that reason but I hate mistakes.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/08/2016 11:53

Oh wow that's cool! Thanks, I'll do that then go over with a biro. Yes, the novelty of the frixion only lasted a couple of weeks, I mainly use Staedtler fineliners and biros! 👍🏻

Babieseverywhere · 07/08/2016 11:58

Looking at your picture. It looks like you put a hot cup of tea/coffee on that page for a moment.

Babieseverywhere · 07/08/2016 12:00

I am using very cheap fineliners from Wilcos...I love them. They write so nicely.

I covet a fountain pen....with purple ink...one day :)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/08/2016 12:01

Oh maybe, sounds like something I would do!

HerdsOfWilderbeest · 11/08/2016 18:12

Ok I only just discovered this. Looks useful but not sure how I can synch home with work. Not sure it's going to be possible actually. Has anyone else stuck with it?

Iggi999 · 11/08/2016 23:08

Boltonlass I have, got a nice journal all ready to go when we start back next week!

HerdsOfWilderbeest · 11/08/2016 23:23

Iggi how are you going to do that? I'm a teacher too.

crankyagnes · 16/08/2016 09:31

I was drawn to this thread by the talk of gorgeous notepads and lovely pens - I do love stationery! And I have never quite been able to find a planner that exactly meets my needs so this sounded ideal.

So, I started my BuJo mid July, but then decided to do the summer holidays as one block and will go back to months again when the boys are back at school. Being a SAHM, the summer holidays are very different from term time. This is working well for me so far, so I'm glad I went with it.

The only other tweak I've made for this time block is to put my collections in the back instead of on the next blank page. I've changed ink colour too, makes it much easier to find things in from July (blue) and Summer Holidays (green) without looking at the index.

Eolian · 16/08/2016 13:25

Hello BuJoers! ☺I was MercifulTehlu (the OP). I vanished from the thread a while back because I was spending waaaay too much time on MN, so I decided to go cold turkey and de-register.

However, my BuJo is still going strong and I've missed having a place to chat about it! So I'm back, but strictly on the BuJo thread only.

Will now go and read how you've all been getting on. Glad to see the thread is still going anyway!

Eolian · 16/08/2016 13:32

I've just started setting up my second BuJo, which I will start using in September. My old one wasn't quite full up, but it makes sense for me to go September to August as dh and I are both teachers and have dc in school.

My new one is a berry Leuchtturm and I'm using dotted rather than lined for the first time. I'm beginning to really enjoy making my headings look nice but am avoiding doing too much other embellishment unless I have time to kill! I feel like I've settled into my own BuJo style now and have spent some time thinking about what worked and didn't in my first BuJo.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/08/2016 13:39

Hello Eolian! Wink There you are! Wondered what happened to you. I've had to de-reg many a time but it never works for long. Maybe I should add 'No MN' to my habit tracker Grin I feel like I've found my own BuJo style too :)

Eolian · 16/08/2016 13:44

Blush I did in fact add 'No MN' to my habit tracker Grin. In fact, it's the one habit I have managed to stick to for a whole month (and more).

Habit trackers haven't worked well for me in the past, but I'm going to try doing one on my weekly spread rather than my monthly calendar page so that I look at it more. I also think it might feel easier to stick to if it's only a week at a time!

Really glad you've found your BuJo style! Has anyone posted any pics lately? Must read back.... Not sure exactly when I dropped off the thread!

Eolian · 16/08/2016 13:53

I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to start a new thread (maybe without 'wankers' in the title Grin ) in the next week or so, in the hope of attracting some potential newbies in the inevitable pre-back-to-school rush of stationery and productivity enthusiasm?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/08/2016 13:57

Oh good idea re weekly habit tracker! I was thinking the other day that I never flip back to it and therefore rarely fill it in. Didn't think to make it weekly, duh! Ah, the beautiful flexibility of the bullet journal Grin

New thread is a good idea too!

building2016 · 16/08/2016 14:02

I have a habit tracker but I have decided to treat it as a log for reference. So I want to know if I managed to do x y z so I should log it. That way it doesn't feel like pressure?

Eolian · 16/08/2016 14:12

Yes I think some things you track are things you want to make yourself do every day, whereas other things you just want to track so that you can look back and see how regularly you tend to do it.

Eolian · 16/08/2016 14:49

I also wondered whether Housekeeping is really the best place for a BuJo thread. After all, it is so much more than just an aid to keeping your house in order, and some people probably don't even use it for that particularly.

Not sure if there's anywhere more suitable for it though...
