Woo hoo! It's the second Bullet Journal thread! For the benefit of newbies - Bullet Journal is a brilliant way to organise your whole life in a lovely notebook. Perfect for anyone who has tried every app and every scheduling system but just can't seem to get on top of things. Also perfect for lovers of beautiful stationery and especially for people who like lists!

Sooo - get out your fineliners and your washi tape! Stroke your Leuchtturms! And get all that stuff that's whizzing round in your head out onto paper instead!

That's a good idea SoupDragon - I'm not sure I will need the monthly either - but I am going to try it out just in case.

ThornyBird · 21/04/2016 20:07

Quick question - any recommended notebooks for using with a fountain pen? I am delighted with BuJo so far and surprised that I'm already at the middle page in my teeny tiny practice notebook Shock

JemTheAngel · 21/04/2016 21:35

The lady who writes the Boho Berry blog talks about fountain pens and she uses a leuchtturm notebook. I've not tried using a fountain pen in mine, but I am quite tempted...

Leeloo2 · 21/04/2016 21:51

Haven't rtft, but remember on an early thread people mentioned moleskine notebooks and noticed today purple and black a5 ones are reduced to £3 (from £12) in sainsburys today. :)

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 22/04/2016 00:49

Have you guys seen the thread in site stuff requesting a "Stationery Cupboard"? It strikes me that would be the spiritual home of many BuJo-ers on here. If so, you may want to pop over and add your name if you haven't already.

Hi all!
Just jumping in with an urgent request for advice if there's anyone around. I'm just reading through both threads and want to start with this system as my trusty, and much used, A5 Filofax is SO heavy to carry around.
Anyway here's the thing - I am off to Paperchase to buy a gift and want to set myself up to start my new system this afternoon. Staples is close by too but my needs (or wants) are specific so I thought you may be able to point me in the right direction!
I would prefer removable pages for a start as I have perfectionist issues and will struggle if I make a mistake :( I wonder whether this will create problems with using this system? I know I can set it up any way I like but I hate messy pages and love good handwriting - I know I should try to loosen up a bit but it's not easy. I am super organised and like it that way so this lighter to carry system really appeals.
I would like to index sections too so what do you do for that? In my Filofax I use sticky plastic tabs but maybe there's a better way? I think someone mentioned sticky coloured dots but what are they used for?
Sorry to bombard you but I'm all fired up by your posts and will be leaving at 1pm so I hope there are some ideas for me :) Is there a great notebook to buy which has removable pages and refills to buy or shall I just try with a cheap notebook and tear pages out if I make a mistake? Sorry but that's how bad it is :( Thanks, Tia x

TheNotoriousPMT · 22/04/2016 11:33

The Filofax notebook fulfils the removable pages/refill requirements and would be lighter than your organiser.

I really don't like the erasable pens. They don't erase enough for my liking. I did love them at first but, for me, they've not lived up to my initial impressions.

Thorny - I love using fountain pen but don't find it works well for my BuJo because I am constantly going from one page to another writing things and it ends up smudged.

There's a great thread about fountain pens going at the moment which is where the Stationery Cupboard idea emerged.

I use a pencil & have a rubber to hand but haven't actually used it yet. I much prefer the feel/sound of writing with a pencil than a pen. It has to be the right pencil though. I got a lovely round wooden one as a freebie at an event a few months ago. I'm dreading having to find a replacement!

SoupDragon · 22/04/2016 14:31

My erasable pens predate these threads! :o

TheNotoriousPMT · 22/04/2016 14:37

One possible problem with erasable pens is that you can't photocopy what you've written with them - the heat from the photocopier erases everything.

I might have found that out after photocopying a student's 4 page long erasable-pen essay

Babieseverywhere · 22/04/2016 14:49

I love my blue ink frixon erasable pen and I am on my fourth refill insert.

I bought mine from Amazon but covert the multi colour seven pen frixon set I found in Tesco last week !

I believe you might get the ink to reappear if you put it in the fridge or freezer.

SoupDragon · 22/04/2016 15:31

I'm sure I tried it. I definitely put a hot coffee mug over the top to make it disappear...

If I could be arsed to go off the sofa, I'd try it myself!

The hot mug definitely worked.

SoupDragon · 22/04/2016 16:09

(I'm now worried I misremembered about the fridge though)
