stumblymonkey · 29/02/2016 11:37

Hi everyone...

Hoping joining this thread will give me the extra bit of motivation I need to not carry over quite so many things on my to do list from one day to the next!

I'm 33, I work FT but from home two or three days a week, no DCs yet (we are TTC #1), two Dcats who make the mess of about twenty.

Basically I want to get as many chores done that aren't DP's chores on my work from home days so I can relax blissfully at the evenings and weekends.

To do list to follow.....

stumblymonkey · 29/02/2016 12:27

Okay...to do list for today:

  • Clean pan that has been soaking
  • Put away laundry
  • Wash and hang next batch of laundry
  • Iron sheets and change bed
  • Start cleaning new mould issue in bedroom
  • Make dinner
  • Feed cats at dinner time
  • Dust bedroom

That's enough for a day when working right?
Maybe too much...will have to see how I get on...

willhazboz · 29/02/2016 19:55

Meh I feel rubbish so getting a takeaway and doing nothing :) dh has put towels away and I'll probably put dark wash away before I go to bed. Dishwasher probably won't even need to go on as hardly any dishes.

celeste83 · 29/02/2016 20:38

Okay...today's list:

Empty dishwasher
Tumble drying
School run
Buy dd1's book day costume
Put clean laundry away
Make dd2's costume (sigh)
Handwashing
Clean oven

Take dd to dance lesson

It's our first Book Day that we've had to dress the dc up for (dd1 is in Reception and Book Day fell on one of her non-nursery days last year) ...and I'm sick of it already. I really thought I would be better at this stuff :(

Kim82 · 01/03/2016 12:18

  • dust living room
  • sweep and mop floors downstairs
stumblymonkey · 01/03/2016 12:28

willhazboz · 01/03/2016 12:51

So I went into work with slightly spotty hands and got told I needed to go the docs and he's signed me off for a week as I've caught hand foot and mouth from my lg! Feel awful as my maternity leave starts in just over 3 weeks. And I feel absolutely fine (just tired!) but apparently adults can feel pretty rotten with it so they don't want me to risk giving it to other people.
I put the dark wash away this morning as was too tired last night. Put another wash on this morning aswell which is dry so will wait until dd is asleep then I'll put it away.
Make tea and general tidy in kitchen. Husband is finishing off the fireplace this afternoon as I'm off so will dust and Hoover that mess!
Everyone is doing so well and I'll be doing more this week now I'm off. Going to still take my lg round to her grandparents for half a day so I can crack on with jobs. My oven will be cleaned this week!

cheapandcheerful · 01/03/2016 14:12

My productivity was short-lived as dd1's library trip was cancelled due to bad weather. So I'm now watching Netflix under a blanket with a poorly dd2.

Which also does mean a trip to the pharmacy this afternoon to get a replacement for her broken inhaler :(

cheapandcheerful · 01/03/2016 14:14

willhazboz I had hand foot and mouth a couple of years ago, but right at the END of mat leave! So I missed my first week back at work Blush ...I didn't even feel ill either.

handbags88 · 01/03/2016 14:59

Oh dear Will, that's a shame!! At least it gives you a bit of a break (even though you'll feel rubbish).

All was going well here and then DH decided to be 'helpful' and make the tea etc last night as I was shattered and have had terrible heartburn.

Came downstairs this morning - kitchen a bomb site, dishes everywhere, washing on the line overnight so had been rained on and a beer bottle lying on the coffee table!

Plus a nice pile of dirty laundry at the top of the stairs.

Angry Angry Angry

Just goes to show how quickly everything goes tits up!

So this morning I:

Put the wet washing back in the washing machine
Put a tumble on
Aired the bed
Cleared the dishes into the sink (DH can bloody well wash them later)
Put the dirty washing in the laundry bin
Tidied the sitting room

Then the cat vomited on the rug as I went to make my breakfast, so I took the whole box of Cheerios to work with me to eat a massive bowl there Grin

willhazboz · 01/03/2016 21:20

Yeah as I feel fine (hopefully that continues!!) I feel like a right sicknote Sally! But I guess at least I can get started on the jobs I had decided to do on mat leave.
Sounds like everyone's got their hands full feeling ill or ill children!
Tomorrows list:
Clean bathroom
Hoover and dust upstairs and living room
Brush and mop downstairs
Wash and dry daughters clothes
Put away our washing
If weather is ok I'm going to test the cream cleaner on my windows that I've been meaning to do for ages!!

Eurgh I hate when men 'help' but actually make more work for us! Well done on leaving the dishes for him though!

celeste83 · 01/03/2016 21:23

Oh no willhazboz best not give it to anyone else though.

I'd be pretty annoyed if my husband left the house in that state and left the washing on the line.

Today i have:

  • made beds
  • washed dishes
  • cleaned oven
  • cleaned microwave
  • cleaned fridge
  • bleached kitchen sink
  • sorted out the larder
  • cleaned all kitchen surfaces
  • mopped kitchen floor
  • general tidy up
  • made tea
  • washed dishes
  • done ironing
handbags88 · 01/03/2016 21:36

Massive lists for today - well done you guys!

I've just shut the door to the kitchen and plan to ignore it until he sorts it out.

I've had a bath and am now in bed reading (and MNing)

Night all! Smile

celeste83 · 01/03/2016 21:45

I've decided to list out all the bits of the kitchen i cleaned instead of just saying i cleaned the kitchen Grin

willhazboz · 02/03/2016 06:17

When you've wiped down the surfaces and mopped the floor say you've cleaned the kitchen but when you've done all that definitely list separately celeste!

cheapandcheerful · 02/03/2016 06:39

I need to up my game if that's what 'cleaning the kitchen' means to some people!

needastrongone · 02/03/2016 09:36

Do you guys mind if I join in? Even if I have a cleaner? Grin

We live in a fairly sizeable house (not a stealth boast, I promise, more an explanation as to why I am here!), have dogs, 2 teens and entailing mess, a pony (there tack and a constant smell of hay/horse shit), and a really untidy but lovely husband. I am also away most weekends from April onwards so have less time to keep on top of stuff.

Therefore, despite the cleaner, I do seem to do a lot of stuff and need to do a lot of stuff Smile I work 3 days too btw.

Today's list

  • Ironing.
  • Vacuum everywhere
  • Walk dogs (one down, one to go)
  • Empty internal bins.
  • Wash bedding in our room (wash on)
  • Empty dishwasher.
  • Unpack weekly shop when it arrives.
  • Tidy up before cleaner arrives tomorrow.
  • Make tea (soup)
  • Wipe over and stick bleach down all 4 toilets (done)

Hope that's ok Smile

willhazboz · 02/03/2016 09:55

Welcome needastrongone! Sound like you need a cleaner bless you. Ah I'm lucky and have a tidy husband (most of the time) but he 'doesn't see the point' in cleaning! Hmm
My thoughts exactly cheap!
So I have put oven cleaner in the oven this morning so slightly off list!
I've also loaded dishwasher and unloaded when it finished. Now the oven shelves are in it.
Dusted living room done
Clean bathroom done
Wash dry and put away dd washing and put away our washing done
My dd goes to her nannas at 11 so will be scrubbing the oven and then brush and mop downstairs and the bathroom. And Hoover living room (husband did do it yesterday but had been sanding etc so needs redoing now it's settled)

celeste83 · 02/03/2016 10:28

Morning all,

Hi needastrongone If we had a cleaner i still reckon the place would end up like a tip and i would need to tidy up aswell Confused 4 toilets to clean sounds annoying though.

Thats just my weekly kitchen clean really. Does no one else do that level of clean weekly? I wipe ove the kitchen tops daily but it don't take long for the other bits to look grim else.

Today i have:

  • made beds
  • washed dishes
  • brought the bins in after bin day

Today i want to clean all the windows inside.

Just had a mega 30 minute storm here this morning. Really windy with snow and everything. Its gone now though and its all calmed down.

needastrongone · 02/03/2016 10:45

Thanks for the welcomes, I really must do all this cleaning I have planned!

4 toilets is a pain, I give them a wipe and bleach a couple of times a week.

will it's the other way round for DH, clean (ish, needs to be in the mood) but hellish untidy. We work together too, it's the same at work Smile

willhazboz · 02/03/2016 12:10

I don't celeste but I wish I did! My husband will probably faint when he comes home and the oven is clean. But I am a bit slovenly (hence coming onto this thread!) I do the counters daily and brush and mop every couple of days. Micro I just clean when something explodes or when I remember. BlushBut my oven is hanging! Right I'm going to scrub it now instead of procrastinating.
But this thread shames me into doing more-thankfully!
