Used to do one of these each week but I have become a lazy lazy slob it would seem!

Anyone care to join me with lists and motivation?

Morning Kim, I've just ordered one from Argos I'll pick it up shortly.

To do today;

Dust the whole house
Hoover whole house
Deep clean the kitchen which includes the cooker/units/fridge
Change the beds & hoover the mattresses
Deep clean the bathroom
Skirting boards
Collect the throws from the dry cleaners
Laundry, wash, fold & put away

When I get my steam mop I'll be steaming everything to with an inch of it's life! I read a disturbing article in dust mites last night which spurred on the purchase.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 08:48

I've got a steam mop. It does carpets too. It's not a very good one, though, as it seems to push the dirt around the floor so I want to get a better one at some point. Have my eye on a Shark. The only thing is that I don't know whether it's safe to use on vinyl flooring.

Kim82 · 07/10/2015 09:33

Okay, so far:

  • Wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen done
  • Empty bins done
  • Dust living room done
  • Sweep and mop floors done
  • Clean downstairs bathroom
  • Fold and put away clothes still left in the dryer
  • Do a couple of loads of washing washer on
  • Hoover bedrooms, stairs and landing
  • Clean upstairs bathroom
  • Iron uniforms
  • If I get chance nip to Asda for school trousers for dd1 and school tights for dd2.
kate1296 · 07/10/2015 09:45

Morning all! I've always been curious of steam mops..I have two snotty children so hoping they let me get on today..to do
Make beds DONE
Tackle ironing pile still
Put ironing away
Clean bathroom DONE
Hoover downstairs
Polish downstair
Clean kitchen including cabinet doors &fridge
Mop kitchen floors
Try and sort toys out

Shouldn't take too long really! Thinking about getting a baby carrier as dd (4m) hates being put down and would make things a lot easier

X

Baby is asleep for now so i can't hoover and I'll clean the upstairs bathroom later when she's in the bath so I'm sat watching TV for now. Yay!

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 07/10/2015 14:13

No steam mop for me today! I went to the dry cleaners & they can't clean my throws something to do with the type of material. So I've had to chuck them in the bin.

Went shopping for new throws & it actually gave me a headache trying to sort out colours and making everything match & making sure they could be washed/dry cleaned.

So far only the cookers been cleaned.
Need to make the beds, change the lampshades next.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 15:08

Am managing to get a few things done.

  • tidy lounge
  • tidy dining room and kitchen - done
  • vacuum dining kitchen (really need to mop too, but unlikely to happen)Swept and steam mopped. Will get DH to vacuum tonight
  • fold 4 loads of washing done
  • actually put folded washing in drawers
  • do load of whites and load of woollens woollens done, whites for overnight
  • finalise DD2's passport application done
  • and sort parcel for NZ to be posted on Thursday (not housework, but needs to be done)
  • clean toilets
Pointlessfan · 07/10/2015 15:14

Please can I join you? I'm a teacher 3 days a week. Over the summer holiday I got really into cleaning especially from watching Clean My Space videos on YouTube. Now the marking is taking over again and the house is a tip. I usually do housework on my days off while DD naps but I'm exhausted this week and have just sat around for the last hour and a half. I think this thread could really motivate me again.
Going to try to vacuum and mop later on and also get strange mark off the sofa - something to do with sticky toddler fingers I expect!

Kim82 · 07/10/2015 15:57

Hi Pointlessfan, course you can join. The more people who join the more motivated I get!

  • Wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen done
  • Empty bins done
  • Dust living room done
  • Sweep and mop floors done
  • Clean downstairs bathroom done
  • Fold and put away clothes still left in the dryer done
  • Do a couple of loads of washing done
  • Hoover bedrooms, stairs and landing done
  • Clean upstairs bathroom
  • Iron uniforms done
  • If I get chance nip to Asda for school trousers for dd1 and school tights for dd2 done

Just need to make tea and clear up after then there's the bathroom to clean which I'll do when baby is in the bath later.

Pointlessfan · 07/10/2015 19:45

Thanks for the welcome! Reading the thread this afternoon motivated me enough to do the following:
Vacuum all downstairs
Clean loo
Put a load of washing on and another load away
Clear all the accumulated crap off the top of the fridge and clean it.
Busy day at work tomorrow and going out in the evening but am already thinking about jobs for the weekend.

Kim82 · 07/10/2015 20:15

It really does get you moving when you see that everyone else is getting stuff done doesn't it?

The bathroom is now lovely and clean so my jobs are done for the day. Tomorrow's list so far is:

  • Tidy beds
  • Wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen
  • Sweep floors
  • Do some washing
  • Fold and put away clean washing
  • Clean downstairs windows
  • Make a steak pie ready for tea
  • Go to Asda to swap dd1's school pants for a bigger size
  • Clean dog muck off dd2's trainers (yuck, they're staying in the back garden til tomorrow!)
  • Hoover the girls' bedroom again as they've put glittery, sparkly crap all over the floor 1.5 hours after me hoovering it today!
  • Clean out cat litter
  • Ring GP to book smear (grim)
  • Ring plumber to find out when they plan on returning to fix the toilet

That's all I can think of for now, no doubt more will be added at some point.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 20:30

Morning sickness took my afternoon away so I didn't get anything more done in my list. DH vacuumed, though. Yay DH!

Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. Depends on whether I take the children out.

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 07/10/2015 20:34

Hi Pointless, yes your right it's great motivation.

Got back on track after this morning and deep cleaned the kitchen. Pulled all the appliances out hoovered/washed underneath them. Washed them out & hoovered the tumble dryer.
Cleaned the units/tiles/windows.
Washed the bins out
Bleached the benches
Descaled the kettle
Cleaned out the toaster
Cleaned the lampshades & curtains
Rearranged the pot cupboard
Washed the skirting boards
Kids & DH went out for dinner so no mess to clear up :)

Now feet up catching up on my fav TV programmes.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/10/2015 08:50

My biggest need for motivation is getting started in the morning, so hopefully seeing how much others get done first thing will help with that.

Today I need to:

  • clean toilets
  • tidy lounge
  • put away washing
  • do a load of darks
  • sort the recycling
  • do the ironing
Kim82 · 08/10/2015 09:57

Morning everyone. I've managed to make a decent start today so I'm just having a break for a brew then I'll crack on again.

  • Tidy beds done
  • Wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen done
  • Sweep floors done
  • Do some washing done
  • Fold and put away clean washing
  • Clean downstairs windows done
  • Make a steak pie ready for tea
  • Go to Asda to swap dd1's school pants for a bigger size
  • Clean dog muck off dd2's trainers (yuck, they're staying in the back garden til tomorrow!) done
  • Hoover the girls' bedroom again as they've put glittery, sparkly crap all over the floor 1.5 hours after me hoovering it today!
  • Clean out cat litter done
  • Ring GP to book smear (grim) done
  • Ring plumber to find out when they plan on returning to fix the toilet done

Baby is in bed so I'll wait til she wakes then Hoover the girls' room and go back to Asda. I'll make the steak pie in a minute then after that I just need to do a load of dark washing, get them dried, folded and put away.

I'm sure there's something else I was meant to do today but I can't think what. It'll probably come to me later when it's too late!

Kim82 · 08/10/2015 10:28

Steak pie is done and in the fridge. Just the hoovering and exchanging the school trousers to do now.

Been at work yesterday and today but managed to keep kitchen clean and all dishes have been done straight away. Had massive clear out of living room cupboard, quite a small cupboard but two bin bags of junk. Have hoovered round at lunch time and sorted tonight's dinner as we have thing on at school.

Everyone seems to have completed lots of lists, well done everyone.

Kim82 · 08/10/2015 14:00

Afternoon everyone. I got distracted by my sister asking me to drop some lunch off for he as she was working from home but hadn't been shopping so had nothing in. I then ended up cleaning her kitchen as it was filthy lol.

I'm back now and have just put the towels in the dryer and the darks in the washer so all my jobs are done for the day. Time to relax!

  • Tidy beds done
  • Wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen done

Pointlessfan · 09/10/2015 06:57

Going to make lasagne this evening and do at least one load of washing ready to go on the line tomorrow morning.

Missymoomoo197936 · 09/10/2015 07:17

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been on, it's been hectic for me this past week.

I've got work at 4, my 1st shift at my new position, no training needed though as it's what I've been covering being on the bank.

So I have to go town, pick shopping up, hoover, sort dinner out and put in slow cooker, sort sandwiches out for the kids for their dinner while I'm at work, they are having hot dinners at school today.

Kim82 · 09/10/2015 08:34

Morning! I don't think I have much to do today, my list is:

  • go to weightwatchers
  • tidy beds done
  • wash breakfast dishes and clean kitchen
  • fold towels still in the dryer from yesterday
  • re-wash the darks in the washing machine
  • clean all light switches

I think that's it for today, I can't think of anything else that needs doing.

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 09/10/2015 09:10

Morning everyone.

Missy all the best with your first shift. I used to work shifts, it feels like you do a days work before you go to work sometimes!

Today's list;

Air beds - Done
Make beds
Laundry - in the machine
Hoover & dust/polish the living room
Sort out under the TV it's starting to become a dumping ground.

Get the new washing machine in.
Make dinner.

Currently at the doctors so everything's on hold until I get home.

Kim82 · 09/10/2015 11:56

So far:

  • go to weightwatchers done, lost 3lb

Afternoon all.

I was supposed to be working today, but now have an unexpected day off. I had already got quite a lot done early this morning, but don't want to squander the rest of my day. My list is:

Send an email list for work.
Book ds's party (Priority)
go to the carpet shop and bank.
post letters
Tidy the back garden
clear out the garage.

A short but chunky list I feel.
