A shiny new thread for our soon-to-be shiny homes Grin
Spring cleaning time is upon us (or autumn cleaning time depending where you are in the world)

Thought this thread could last through April as well. Given how nobody but the lovely MrsN clocked how far into March it was already

Hi all!

Feeling much better now and trying to get back on the unfucking wagon.

Adora sorry if I've missed this - where are you going? Definitely agree that shipping half empty nail varnish and booze is daft.

Bought coat hangers for DS so his wardobe is FINALLY unfucked.
Fridge is a state - needs unfucking
Birthday cards - bought a massive stack and going to sit down and write them all so I don't miss any more birthdays.
Need to vacuum as usual.
Meal plan for the month
15 minutes sorting PC files
Research Gro Clocks (desperate for sleep now)

I'm worn out just reading that. Think I need a coffee.

AdoraBell · 05/05/2015 14:38

Brew all round.

We're moving from sunny south America to, drum roll, good old Blighty.

Flights booked for mid July and packers provisionally booked for Monday Shock, but only if we pay their fucking fee first.

Anyway, morning routine - unfucked
Waiting in for bod who should have been here yesterday to sort the boiler - unfucked
Dishwasher and laundry - unfucked
Dog feeding, still to be unfucked, poor starved waifs, t'is only 10.30 here tho

Going into the city for Laywer stuff - to be unfucked
Going into city to get smear test done - delayed another day due to aforementioned bod turning up fucking late today. I'll probs do it Thursday now, realistically.
Replacing the chocolate I scoffed last night - to be unfucked.
Getting DDs from school, early today, to be unfucked.
Dinner, like the look of that talk dahl >> over there. To be unfucked.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 06/05/2015 07:42

Adora are you looking forward to moving (back)? I'd love to go to South America but haven't managed it yet.

Managed to do all of my list yesterday Shock. Feeling quite motivated now, so plan for today:

  • Dogs, rabbit, bird, toddler, husband all unfucked
  • Lunches unfucked
  • 15 minutes filing - TBU
  • Pay nursery - TBU
  • Tackle cupboard under sink - TBU
  • Take dog to training class - TBU

Raspberry how is the husband training going? I've been trying to get mine to put his clothes in the laundry basket for 8 years. No luck so far.

RaspberryBlonde · 06/05/2015 19:26

Alas, Cupcakes, DH remains sadly untrained in the art of the correct place to leave clothes. I think we may be married to lost causes in this department...

MsAspreyDiamonds · 06/05/2015 20:26

Have been off thread for a while because of various illnesses & general life getting in the way of completing the decorating.

Anyway, finished applying the primer on the woodwork today so top coat to do tomorrow.

Posted off a few ebay packages, sold some old dresses.

Washed a load of whites but crap drying weather so drying indoors.

Bagged up a load of unsold ebay clothes for charity. Pita to relist & pay extortionate fees.

Booked a baby market stall for next weekend so sorted out baby clothes for that.

Got a box of books ready for charity.

AdoraBell · 07/05/2015 02:01

Oh, did I say I would be cooking a meal last night? Silly me Blush what I meant to say was that I would reluctantly agree to DD2 making churros but I would handle the deep frying because kids and deep frying just don't mix.

This resulted in me cleaning oil splashes off the entire island, most of the floor and everything that couldn't get shoved in the dishwasher. I found the errant piece of doughnut type stuff that caused the, thankfully minor, explosion. About 4 feet from the hob. DD2 now knows exactly why she couldn't do it all herself.

Cupcakes yes, I've enjoyed our time here but it's suddenly become "long enough" and with every day that passes I get closer to having a case of the screaming ab dabs. South America is a fantastic place to visit, even to live for a while - especially if you have an expat package Envy which we don't- but after 11 years it's time to say adios amigos. Or at least Hasta Luego.

I hope everyone is well now MrsAsprey

So, today, breakfast etc - unfucked
Shower and dash out thinking I was late - unfucked
Barge into Pilates class before the one I should have been at - unfucked
Pilates - I'm fucked unfucked
Long leisurely coffee - unfucked
Remember poor dogs haven't eaten and dash back home - unfucked
Feed dogs, they still love meGrin and grab some lunch - unfucked
School run and then into city for Dr - unfucked
Home through rush hour traffic with an accident on the motorway - unfucked
Dinner, sling chicken in oven for tomoz lunches - unfucked
Feed dogs again - unfucked
Collapse with Brew - unfucked

I'm still trying to train my DH to STFU about boats/cars when I'm MNing, he is a very slow learnerHmm

pumpkinsweetie · 07/05/2015 12:34

New to threadGrin
Need to completely clean and empty my home from it's crap before decorating etc

Today i have managed so far

*Stripped kids beds, ready to be washed and put back on.
*Cleared all the surplus paper and rubbish type items from kids room.
*cleaned around bathroom taps, loo, windows and chucked all empty shampoo bottles away.
*put 2 loads in the washerama.
*Hoovered living room.
*Bagged up some soft toys my toddler no longer plays with for freecycle.

Lets hope i keep this up!

Cheers everybody to eventual tidy housesBrew
Will make it tea, as it's too early for wineGrin

RaspberryBlonde · 08/05/2015 05:50

Welcome pumpkin, sounds like a good list.

My day has started at 5am again as DD woke up obviously tired but refused to go back into bed. She is now snoring on my lap while I am on MN. No offense to you lovely people but I'd rather have had the sleep!

Anyway, jobs for today:

  • do a couple of loads of washing and put away clean stuff from the other day (ironed everything last night)
  • take DD to appointment and swimming class
  • write shopping list and go to buy food
  • do something with the rhubarb I picked yesterday.
  • general tidy up for parents coming tonight

DH has also decided to work from home so all this needs to be done while keeping DD reasonably quiet and out of his way...

comeagainforbigfudge · 08/05/2015 08:16

Morning all

Light plans for today which mainly include prepping a cake baking session

-boil lemons

  • get ingredients for said cake
  • put on wash
  • go buy oven cleaning stuff
  • mess up kitchen then clean it up
  • physio this pm

Have a nice day all

OP posts:
RaspberryBlonde · 09/05/2015 06:26

Mmmm, cake!

But what are the boiled lemons for comeagain?

comeagainforbigfudge · 09/05/2015 08:46

They were for a lemon cake.

It's a nigella lawson chocolate orange cake that I adapted to make it lemon cake.

Except I dropped it!! So disappointing
Smelt amazing and tasted good (the bits that were not on the floor anyway!)

OP posts:
Snowflake15 · 09/05/2015 11:34

Help!!! I need to clean but have been laying in bed for 2 hours instead! I'm hoping writing it here will give me a kick up the arse:
Bleach bath, toilet, sink
Clean mirrors
Hoover everywhere
Mop everywhere
Put away clothes

It's not that much really right? I'd probably have it nearly half done if I'd just got on with it but beds so comfy

pumpkinsweetie · 09/05/2015 17:30

i have not done my best today, tomorrow i must start what i mean to carry on!

MsAspreyDiamonds · 09/05/2015 17:58

Hello all! Am consoling myself with the disappointing election results by throwing myself into painting the hallway and landing! I did the undercoat at Easter but had a break and am now doing the top coat.
My shoulders are a bit sore so I am going to have a soak in the bath later.

Tomorrow's plan is so far:
Woodwork painting
Lunch with a friend
Baking for the week

RaspberryBlonde · 09/05/2015 19:08

Oh no comeagain, sorry to hear about floor cake. Sounds yummy though, I love lemon cake .

Today I got my mum to do some weeding while I stopped DD eating mud. I did offer to switch roles but suspect the weeding was probably the easier part...

AdoraBell · 11/05/2015 02:35

Sorry you lost your cake Fudge Sad

Raspberry lemonade, that's what you need, or pancakes to drizzle the lemons over.

I've spent that past 2 days sorting things for the packers. It should be easy but it's not. New place is less half the size, we aren't moving yet and DH will be returning here so instead of just packing up everything it needs sorting into "staying" and "going" piles in each room. Oh, and we still have to live in it with stuff piled here there and everywhere.

Also manged 4 loads of laundry , meals, dog feeding, dishwasher and packed lunches for school tomorrow. All while DH spent the day in bed ill. I have no idea how that happened, I'm sure I haven't had time to squeeze it inConfused

RaspberryBlonde · 11/05/2015 08:18

Ooooh, pancakes are an excellent idea - that's DD's dinner sorted! Thanks Adora.

I have a very rare morning to myself here as I'm off work and DD is at childminder, so I'm hoping to get some serious unfucking done (as soon as I've finished a nice peaceful breakfast!). Have already got some washing in, then aiming for tidying and hoovering before collecting DD at 1. I'm hoping for a generally productive week as DH is away with work so will hopefully get some bits and pieces done in the evening. May finally get those CDs in the wallet!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 11/05/2015 08:27

Adora my DH always seems to find time to be ill. Lucky him! Don't envy your packing tasks, what a nightmare!

Welcome pumpkin!

comeagain I'm SURE there's a rule on this thread about sharing recipes! Come on, cough up! (though I like the sound of the orginal chocolate orange more than lemon-floor cake).

Quite a productive day for us - some sorting in the garden, then DH sorted out the maze of cables in the computer cupboard. Found the power supply for the old printer which died over a year ago still connected Blush. Anway, we can now plug stuff in which is good. I also sorted and decluttered the bookshelf. DS helpfully vacuumed up the water from the dog bowl. Vacuum survived but has had to be dismantled to allow it to dry - so now vacuuming for a while. With 2 hairy dogs the house is going to be SUCH a state.

Jobs for today:

Order worming tablets for dogs
laundry
Dinner - curry I think
Clean bathroom
15 minutes filing.

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/05/2015 10:20

cupcakes your wish is my command recipe only - not cleaning your house for you
www.food.com/recipe/nigella-lawson-flourless-chocolate-orange-cake-303266

To make it lemony heaven I just boiled lemons, and replaced cocoa powder with more ground almonds.

Both versions are scrumptious. Just fancied a change.

I'm jealous of all the unfucking going on. I'm pretty much only just managing to keep on top of washing/kitchen cleaning. Bloody pelvic girdle pain/massive bump getting in the way.

Did build our pushchair last night. Very exciting (for two minutes til pain took over again Sad)

OP posts:
RaspberryBlonde · 11/05/2015 11:13

11am update:

  • washing hung out
  • everywhere dusted
  • main bedroom and DD's bedroom tidied
  • lawn mowed (didn't plan to do this but I went outside to hang the washing it the weather is so nice here I thought I'd stay out for a bit)
  • breakfast stuff washed

Still to do

  • mop kitchen floor
  • Hoover everywhere
  • deal with mega pile of clean laundry

Just having a quick snack break now.

Hope you are not too uncomfortable comeagain, must not be too long until baby is here now?

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/05/2015 16:28

5 weeks. But just discovered baby is breech. (I knew it felt wrong!)

So operation turn baby begins!
Thanks raspberry

Wish I'd put a wash on. Turned out a lovely washing day. Shame I was stuck in hospital for most of afternoon.

OP posts:
LetThereBeCupcakes · 12/05/2015 07:56

Oh comeagain sorry you're in pain. Is that because baby is breech? Are they going to try and turn him / her?

Very little unfucking will happen today as I'm working this morning and DS has his first dentist appointment this afternoon. I will run a few errands in town and hopefully sort out the 2 MASSIVE piles of laundry sitting on our bed (fortunately it's clean laundry so just needs putting away).

DS managed to fall over and give himself a nose bleed this morning. Any ideas how to get blood off of my white cardigan?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 12/05/2015 12:19

fudge

DS4 was footling breech - foot stuck on top of cervix. had to be a C-section. (no pain like being kicked there)

whatever happens, good luck, a section is not the end of the world, I had 3 VBACs after thatWink

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 12/05/2015 12:20

lots of unfucking was done while my mum was here.
more to come but I need a nap first.
soooo tired

RaspberryBlonde · 12/05/2015 21:48

cupcakes, probably too late now but a cold rinse straight away, bio powder and sunshine seems to be best for blood in my experience. Hope your DS was ok at the dentist; I took DD for the first time the other week and she point blank refused to open her mouth.

Five weeks is still a while for baby to turn comeagain, did they suggest what the best thing was?

House staying v tidy this week while DH is away, have also replaced some bulbs in the kitchen (we have lots of lights there, I haven't been cooking in darkness) and sorted out lots of digital photos to print.
