A shiny new thread for our soon-to-be shiny homes Grin
Spring cleaning time is upon us (or autumn cleaning time depending where you are in the world)

Thought this thread could last through April as well. Given how nobody but the lovely MrsN clocked how far into March it was already

Thanks raspberry - it happened just as I was leaving for work so I slung it in the sink and covered with cold water which seems to have got the worst out. Bio poweder will kick off my eczema unfortunately - but if I wash it in Bio then wash it in again in non-bio that should be OK. I hope!

Funny you say your house is tidy when DH is away. So is mine. I have 2 large dogs and a toddler, yet DH being away is what means a tidy house. Confused

Managed to get the laundry sorted yesterday, so plan for today:

  • Tidy DS' room
  • Try and convince DH to finish off our will
  • Dinner - stir fry
  • Worm dogs - unfucked
  • And hopefully a bit of sorting in the craft room.

Dentist went well - DS was bribed with a sticker!

comeagainforbigfudge · 13/05/2015 09:12

raspberry I've to go for a scan in a few weeks to check position, if still breech options will be discussed at that point. In meantime I just need to try and get that baby moved. But as my pgp is really bad, I'm very limited. Just need to be patient I guess. I'm quite calm about it all. If I need a cs so be it. Baby needs to come out safely. #priority Grin

Anyway. To do:
A wash is already on.
Unfuck living room
Wash dishes
Sort baby stuff strewn around flat
Decide what to batch cook and write shopping list.
Phone and book car in for work that should have been done months ago

That sounds a do-able list for today.

Super slow progress progressing chez fudgies hoose. Taken me two days to just slowly clean everywhere. But I did manage to scrub the bathroom! That nearly broke me Grin

Today I'll just do bed sheet wash (meant to be sunny later, it better be!)
Kitchen is cleaned but I feel like baking so about to make a mess. Thinking shortbread this time - yummy!

Oh and the garden shed that was falling apart and it's contents are away! Garden back woohoo! Plus the in-laws are buying us a new shed!! (Not offering, insisting. Who am I to refuse!)

Plasterer coming on Monday
Car booked in for repairs that I've been going on about for ages on Monday
Going to do a massive shop tonight (hopefully if OH agrees) and start my batch cooking session tomorrow.

And just generally take it slow.

Hope you all have been uber productive in comparison to me Cake all round as we deserve it

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 17/05/2015 03:37

Urgh.

That's all I've got.

In short house is practically empty and garage full of boxes.

Hope the shortbread was good Fudge

Need to unfuck a meal plan, got 2 days sorted so far.

RaspberryBlonde · 17/05/2015 06:18

Well done on sorting packing Adora, when's the actual move?

Going to be another morning of panic cleaning here as ILs are coming for lunch. Got shopping done yesterday but not much else as DD was really grumpy and cried every time I left the room. Hoping she's more cheerful today!

AdoraBell · 17/05/2015 14:24

Cupcakes salt and cold water gets blood out. If you haven't already washed it in warm water then put it back in a little bit of cold water with a lot of salt applied directly to the stain. You need the salt to stay put rather than dissolve in a full bowl of water. Then rinse out after a few hours. It may need repeating if the stain dried.

Hope DD is better today and you have a good day with ILs Raspberry. Move is scheduled for second week of July but the purchase in the UK is going slower than snail on a go slow.

We're probably going out, if DH wakes up, t'is 10.30 and Mr up at the crack of dawn is still out cold, so not sure what unfucking will be archived today. DD2 is going to make a cake though.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 18/05/2015 07:49

Morning all! Thanks for the blood removal tips all. Soaked it in cold water then washed it in Bio and it looks fine. Will remember the salt tip adora for next time.

Reasonably productive weekend here - DH finally fixed the shelf in the living room (floating shelf. He put it up 3 years ago but couldn't be bothered to put all of the screws in, so it fell down. ). He also put up a hook for DDogs Rosette Hanger. Lots done in the garden and I nicked mums amazing iron to catch up so the ironing pile has gone, too. Good times.

Plan for today:
DDog 2 to vet for gammy leg - delegated to DH
Clean bathroom (priority. 'tis grim)
Dinner - fajitas
Hopefully some sewing - got some clothes to fix and might even get time to work on DS' quilt.

Raspberry How was lunch? I'm very lucky that my ILs live 200 miles away and are very untidy so no panic cleaning is ever required!

RaspberryBlonde · 18/05/2015 18:40

Lunch was chaotic Cupcakes but at least on the table on time. My ILs are 5 miles away and their house is immaculate so there is plenty of panic cleaning although we usually go to them. My parents are more like your ILs (hugely untidy and far away!)

Got a bit done over the weekend - living room cupboard (home of batteries and bulbs) tidied and a random stash of birthday cards recycled/cut up for gift tags.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 19/05/2015 07:37

Ooh, I need to do the Home of Batteries and Bulbs, too. It's the cupboard under the sink, which is also a corner cupboard and a nightmare to get in to, so I've been putting it off.

Didn't get as much done as I'd hoped yesterday as had to go and pick up DDog 2 (DH took her to work for the morning to rest her leg), which mucked up DS' nap time, which basically meant the whole afternoon was a write off.

Managed to clean the sink and loo whilst DS was in the bath, but didn't get 'round to doing the bath itself (though it did get a good rinse after DS pooed in it).
Sat down with DH and went through our finances for the next few month which was really helpful.
No sewing though. Hopefully today.

Could do with doing some baking - will see if nap time permits!

DDogs need a good brush, too.

Zing I saw your other thread about the speech theapist with a lisp. Didn't post as it was getting a bit bun fighty for my liking, but FWIW I'd have been a bit Hmm too! I got what people were saying about it probably being a mechanical problem but how do you explain that to a young child? I once had a dentist with really bad decay. It puts you right off!

comeagainforbigfudge · 19/05/2015 08:47

Oooooh plaster work is coming along. Day 2. And it already looks amazing!! So exciting!

Car fixed, exhaust is damn noisy though. (That was what was getting fixed) Think I need to take it back for them to check no holes! Currently sounds like I'm a boy racer - toot toot! Grin

Nothing happening here until all the plasterwork done. No point I feel #lazy.

Oh but the kitchen has been cleaned!

I might go find this speech therapist thread. Just for somat to read Wink

cupcakes

thanks.Smile

tbh I'm very apprehensive about the whole process so far. 5 months on still no ENT app to check if everything is physically ok with herConfused
first SALT we met sent back letters after both meetings basically saying DD can't talk at allShock Angry
just because she would not cooperate for a total stranger given the fact that she would then hardly ever talk to us.ffs
she is way better now, and after the group meeting yesterday (which was a disaster) i don't even want to go back.
she is not being helped so far in any shape or form. nor am I being listened to.

unfucking is intermittent
Grin

LetThereBeCupcakes · 20/05/2015 08:07

Zing that's rubbish! I'm not surprised you don't want to go back. How old is your DD again?

Brushed the DDogs last night and got enough off of them to make a jumper I reckon. Might send it to MIL and see if she fancies it!

Baking done (lemon cupcakes. Yum).
Tackled the Cupbard of Bulbs & Batteries and discovered I had enough candles to fill THREE carrier bags. THREE!! I never burn candles. So I kept back a few tea lights for summer nights in the garden and despatched the rest to a neighbour who gets through them like they're going out of fashion.

Also decided I want the shelf out of that cupboard so need to empty it completely and get DH to do that.

Dinner to be unfucked
Shopping to be unfucked
Dog walking to be unfucked
Finish deep cleaning Kitchen to be unfucked.

AdoraBell · 20/05/2015 14:19

Sounds like a bloody nightmare Zing hope it gets resolved soon and DD gets the help/confirmation nothing wrong as appropriate.

Last night, after I'd got 1 DD from school, done shopping, done dinner, fed dogs, collected DD1 from her mate's and got home at 9.30 she asked if there were pancakes. No, says I, there are not fucking pancakesHmm when do you think I've had time to make fucking pancakes?

I have a carpet to unfuck. You know how when you take down a picture that's been on the wall for 10 years and the paint/wallpaper is a completely different shade? Well DH put plastic floor protectors under desk chairs for DDs. We may have to replace the fucking carpetHmm

I'm just heading out to Pilates so will set about unfucking the carpet when I get back. Have scrubbed the edges with a tooth brush already.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 21/05/2015 11:58

Adora DS asked for a sausage sandwich half way through his swimming lesson last week and threw a massive tantrum when I failed to produce one. Kids, eh! Grin

Re: the carpets - Get a rug? or possibly put plastic protectors over the rest of the carpet and wait for that to fade, too?

Massive changes of plans here - we're going away to inlaws this weekend, and were planning to leave on Saturday morning. Now DH has managed to get Friday afternoon off, so I'm having to do a manic pack / organise, as I'd planned to do all of the whilst DS was napping on Friday. Eek!

pumpkinsweetie · 21/05/2015 13:19

Back again after hiding thread (lazy me)
2 kitchen cupboards unfunked
kitchen sides cleared of crap we have collectedGrin
tip run was done last week
6 bags of clothes bagged up for charity
extra toys that have migrated downstairs in a heap, now put upstairs in their rightful homes.
bathroom cleaned
toilet bleached
washing put on
clean washing taken upstairs

rather good for me
tomorrow morning pantry shelves

AdoraBell · 22/05/2015 00:27

Yep, kids indeed. I made the mistake of calling mine for dinner before the dinner was on the table getting coldHmm this evening, silly me. Words were had.

Very little unfucking has happened today after a sleepless night over the house purchase but we've all eaten, even the pets, and DD2 has been collected. DH has done some decorating to take his mind off things. Everyone is now on t'internet chillin'

Maybe more will get done tomorrow, who knows?

Hope you have a good weekend Cupcakes

LetThereBeCupcakes · 26/05/2015 09:54

Urgh. Nightmare weekend. DS seemed a bit off colour on the drive down. Next morning spots all over his hands and feet and ulcers in his mouth. I should have KNOWN when the signs when up at nursery that he'd get HFMD the weekend we were away.

He can't eat because he mouth hurts, he can't sleep because he's hungry. He's (understandably) miserable as sin, and DH came down with "a bug" about 30 minutes after DS. He ALWAYS does.

I'd booked today off work so I can catch up with laundry etc whilst DS was at nursery. Of course I now have DS at home...

Plan for today:

Unfuck house.

That'll do.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/05/2015 10:50

Boxes in loft are fucking unfucked!!
Finally!

Clothes are sorted until September.

I'm very very pleased with thatSmile

AdoraBell · 26/05/2015 14:38

Sorry your DS is ill Cupcakes, shame it spoiled the weekend too.

Well done Zing

I have back ache, not sure if it's AF or because DH used my car and changed the seat. I can never get comfortable after he does that. So today I'm staying home other than school run, hopefully Pilates will help tomoz.

Anyway,

Morning routine - unfucked
Remember to eat some breakfast - unfucked
Dogs - unfucked
Shower and hair wash - unfucked
Clear detritus from cooking/breakfast - unfucked

Still to unfuck - palm all the no longer wanted clothes off on my lovely ironing lady. Also need to buy oats as I have 3 spotty bananas that need turning into flapjacks. Oh, and some toms that need turning into a sauceHmm so much to do, so little motivation.

Who wants Brew and Cake ?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/05/2015 18:17

cupcakes without being funny has he got foot hand & mouth thing?
(not the same as foot & mouth!!)
call gp and ask for advice. DS3 had it once, I can't remember what was done about it.

and there's an ointment to seal off ulcers. so they are less painful. it coats the tongue so it feels like you stuck your tongue in grease (disgusting feeling, I had to use it as well as kids, yuck) but it works.

good luck

LetThereBeCupcakes · 26/05/2015 19:45

Zing yes it's definitely HFMD, it's been going 'round at his nursery (along with CP, Scarlet Fever and nits. Deep joy). We've got the ulcer stuff - nigh on impossible getting it in him though! I even put it on myself to try and convince him but all that did was mean I couldn't taste anything for 2 hours. Hmm

Very impressed with the loft boxes sorting! Star for you!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/05/2015 19:49

is it you or fudge who is pg? cba to read back.

nasty thing that cream. you have to force it I'm afraid
