Spring cleaning time is upon us (or autumn cleaning time depending where you are in the world)

Thought this thread could last through April as well. Given how nobody but the lovely MrsN clocked how far into March it was already

Can I join please. Can't relate to fly lady at all so i have downloaded UFYH. Had a productive afternoon tackling the tipshit that is the kids room. While my two year old followed me round messing it back up.

Zing I'm in awe I have have two girls (although ones away with the brownies) and one on the way (19 weeks) and I'm dead on my feet. You deserve a medal just for looking after your brood.

sock-gate is not over yet my dear fudge, but I've sorted DS5's socks and showed him how to fold and neatly put away his underpants.

well, I say all - odd bits are still in mixed bucket of "to be sorted", of course some are scattered arpund the house or in the laundry and I haven't decided if I should keep her popper tops a bit longer or not (if yes they need culling) - but what was in her room is D O N E done!

I thought I'd never get there. she literally has hundreds of dresses, top, trousers, tights, cardigans, pjs, jackets, knickers, hats, socks & shorts. being the only girl when she was born I went nuts with dresses and pink and pretty, plus has been given tons of girl's clothes up to the age of 5 since!
Everything gets boxed up and will either be given to SIL2, as she needs (she had her DD5 last week, they have 5 boys as well!) or sold or chucked.
Would be good just to get rid of it all, but I'm not ready emotionally plus a lot of it is very nice stuff so I can make quite a lot of money if I sell at nearly new sales or through FB etc.

I'm really happy with progress, this feels a real breakthrough, mentally and practically.

I can not wait to get a sewing/craft room when extension is done. I make an sell jewellery, but it's stalled atm.
necklaces are my favourite. so easy to make.

Done the laundry
Taken chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow
Bought a new lawnmower as old one died. (Wickes have 50% off the Flymo Speedi-Mo so now £49.99)
Sorted out another bag for charity

I still need to:
Buy wood paint
Need to pack up my Dh's office & get it ready to paint, it's going to become dd's room.
Paint the ceiling upstairs & the landing top coat.
Order new carpets for the stairs

I sorted about 6 laundry baskets full of clothes today - mainly mine & BabyZing's.

I went through 2 of his drawers as well and filled up one big box with baby clothes now to small for him and stuff we don't need anymore like crib sheets, first size grobags, sling etc.

Colthes Mountain in Sunny Bedroom still needs sorting, but this was a good job done for today.

I also decided to keep popper tops for DD a bit longer, it's quite cold still and so she needs a layer under t-shirts.
All the non-pink/non-girly tops are now in the 1-2y boy's clothes, put away for BabyZing.

MrZing & I discussed a long list of things tgat needs doing this week. we are getting there!

Today (Sunday) I unfucked breakfast for the coming week. I make granola, when I have time, but last week had too much running around to do.

Laundry - unfucked, but machine fucked it up again
Clean door and seals on washing machine unfucked

Went out in the afternoon, ate out and got glutened fucking menu said GF beside the dishes we chose, turns out they mean you can ask for these dishes to be made GF.

This evening, packed lunches & sandwiches - unfucked

Am shattered but DD1 is still doing homework on t'internet so I'm waiting up to turn off the wifi once she's finsihed

Loads of unfucking was done on Saturday and we now have huge piles of stuff to take to the recycling place. That's on my list to unfuck tomorrow (Monday)

Well that's me finished work until next year

I reckon a few days of chilling before I start operation sort baby stuff in some semblance of order!

In meantime I shall enjoy watching TV, eating icecream lovely foods and generally being a lazy bum

Mostly visiting family last weekend so no unfuckking done, so lots to do this weekend. I need to do something to get DH on board as he just wants to clean around the clutter but he is also talking about getting additional storage so feel like action is needed before we start spending money!

irelephant I couldn't get on with FlyLady either. I tried, I really did, but when I read "you will dry your sink every time you use it" I thought - the fuck I will.

Anyway. Yesterday morning everything was unfucked. And I mean everything from top to bottom including outside. Took me and DH four hours. This happened because the estate agent was bringing a prospective buyer here in the morning. Only now they are coming today at 5, allegedly.

Yesterday's mammoth unfuck included eleventy millions loads of washing because of a teenager who chooses to stuff dirty clothes, towels and sheets, not to mention duvets into her wardrobe rather than wash the fucking things.

Today I am going to Pilates, having a coffee by the lake afterwards and will have a quick flick round before I collect the DDs from school.

went through ALL of kids' shoes and wellies. and I mean all.
we have a massive cardboard box full of shoes for DS5,DD& DS6 to grow into (about 50-80 pairs including plimsolls ffs! I lost count)

DH went in town with 3 eldest to fill gaps in wardrobes plus they needed new trainers, crocs and wellies.

but

• I filled a bag with extra wellies for SILs kids, and one big bag of shoes and clothes for her newborn to grow into
• one bag for oldish socks FIL is still happy to use up
• bag of mismatch toys, cars, playmat MIL is eager to store for grandkids

all of that will be taken round theirs tomorrow.

plus DH took a gigantic bag of clothes to charity shop yesterday, was about 30 kgs of clothes mine won't use anymore.

got rid of videos - bar a few we need to somehow burn on to a disc (wedding etc)

sorted almost all CDs same as DVDs - ordered more zip cases, blue for CDs. i like colour coding.

bastards rejected planning application but we'll just see it as a process. fuming & gutted but fuck them. it will get done

so I'm (we're) just gonna carry on unfucking house, either way we need space.

found another massive bastard cardboard box full of clothes but that is it, last box. none with clothes in garage anymore and only sorted ones in loft.

uniforms and other stuff of 5 eldest to finish off tomorrow. then labels.

that is a lot of shoes Zing! Great that they are all going to new homes though, I hate binning that kind of thing.

Hope your viewing went well Adora, I still remember the pain of keeping on top of all last time we moved. The worst part was that the person who eventually bought our place did four viewings before making the offer!

Got a few bits done today. Was sunny here so I parked DD on the patio with a washing up bowl of water and some plastic cups and went through all the old tubs from last year which are now full of weeds. Garden still a mess but it's a start at DD had fun despite ending up muddy and soaked! Also did a load of laundry, put away the clean stuff and relocated about a dozen random things to their proper places. So is looking a bit better.

Thanks Raspberry it seemed to go well and they were here over two hours, very positive vibe all round but we'll have to wait and see.

There really wasn't much to do after the mammoth unfucking, just dishwasher and washing a load of towels. Dust is really bad here and so I had to go over the wood and glass surfaces again as it was visible despite all the cleaning yesterday

Zing I'm amazed that you get so much done, and did you say your SIL now has 5 DDs and 5 DSs? When do you and she get time to do things like, erm, breath? It must be lot's of fun when everything is going well and the DCs are happy though.

adora yes, she has 10 children. she is incredibly organised.
and yes when things go well it's great fun.

DH has been home all week which is the only reason we are getting so much done. on my own it's impossible, I get stopped every 2 minutes!

Week off last week, so managed to:

Unfuck my little shed. Quite a mammoth task.
Plus lots of boring stuff like laundry and cleaning windows. Have also been managing to keep on top of DS' room - it's the only one totally unfucked and I plan to keep it that way!

Working today, but plan for when I get home:
Unfuck ironing
Unfuck dinner (chicken pie, fajitas or curry. Haven't decided yet)
Finish unfucking my sewing box.

Right operation sort hoose begins today

Plan to unfuck the following:
Living room table
2 kitchen cupboards (cleaned inside &out)
Make a start in sorting back room (it's a guddle so don't really know where to start)
Phone: carpet place, tiler & decorator
Work on scenario presentation for friend (as I have the time)
Clean bathroom but only if back holds out

Hmmmm

All I managed yesterday was to make all my phone calls, do the scenario presentation thingy and clean kitchen (not inside cupboards)

Today I'm going out so won't really do much again! Ma bad.

Tomorrow's plan though is to tidy/clean living room and kitchen
Sort bedroom.
Do as many washes as it takes to empty basket, hoping only 2 or 3 if its full of blooming towels (meant to be sunny tomorrow here so hopefully get loads dried)
Empty my drawers and sort clothes (be ruthless)
CLEAN BATHROOM

Can I join you? I too have been struggling with Flylady for years and finally accepted that it's just not for me...generally never make it past the first week.

New BF came to stay for the weekend and it made me realise house really isn't how I want it and my excuse that I've only just moved in doesn't really wash since I moved in October (although he did see my walk in wardrobe/junk room and hasn't run for the hills!)

Taking dd out at 12 but reading through this has motivated me to start unfucking the kitchen before I go

Welcome saturn! That's a lot of bathroom unfucking! I have taken a few things from Flylady but on the whole it's too intense for me!

Hi LetThere, I'm not in work today - when I'm working full time I just found it impossible to fit in all the things Flylady seemed to think was possible in a day and ended up feeling a failure

My plan is to declutter and then start the decorating...decluttering may take a while as the garage is chock full of boxes from when we moved in October (and when we moved the December before and the June before that!!!)

I have done about 20 loads of washing since Friday evening - new clothes, stripped all the beds, dressing gowns plus the usual stuff.

I'm taking a break from unfucking this week as I must get on with Woolly Hugs stuff.

Not so much unfucking done today but I did show 2 shipping companies round so they can quote we haven't been approved for a fucking mortgage yet and everything hangs on that so I'm climbing the fukcing walls here just to kind of get the ball rolling.
