A shiny new thread for our soon-to-be shiny homes Grin
Spring cleaning time is upon us (or autumn cleaning time depending where you are in the world)

Thought this thread could last through April as well. Given how nobody but the lovely MrsN clocked how far into March it was already

Good luck with finishing the stuff for Wooly Hugs Zing

Dinner is unfucked
Lunch for school tomoz is partially unfucked, pasta cooked last night and salmon from the freezer wot I done last week. One DD says she won't need lunch because of a shared snack right before lunch. This school, we're overseas, frequently do this. All the DCs bring crap - biscuits, crisps, sweets, fizzy drink- to share at whatever time during the school dayHmm does my fucking head in.

Still to be unfucked -

Clearing away properly
Assemble lunch for 1 DD
Put dishwasher on
Baileys Grin

Pilates tomorrow morning.

saturn · 15/04/2015 14:43

Thanks Adora

Still unfucking the office, but been out all morning and going out again this afternoon. All other rooms unfucked yesterday are still in order, but how long that will last when back in work tomorrow remains to be seen Hmm

comeagainforbigfudge · 15/04/2015 16:09

Gosh Saturn! Welcome and fab job so far!!

Today I've put 2 loads of washing on and out to dry. Still at least another 2 to go (plus OH floor-drobe but he's still not learned I'm not going to wash it for him unless in basket - tbf he does do it himself eventually and will empty washing machine for me Grin)
Cleaned bathroom
Unfucked living room (still to polish/clean surfaces)
Kitchen unfucked
Bedroom half sorted
Clothes - not even touched!

I also went to carpet place to sort out the delay in my carpet (should have been ready for delivery mid march) - it's now going to be fitted next week - woo hoo!!

So I reckon that's a good days work.
Now sitting with feet up waiting for baby to start kicking like mad Smile I do like these wee tartan bunnet smiley faces

Feeding dogs - unfucked

Lunch - unfucked
Then it all went downhill, but I have made some granola for brekkies and snacks to take to schoolGrin

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/04/2015 11:28

Oh lordy! I sat and wrote a snag list last night! It's so long, could greet!

Not putting it on here. Just going aim to do a few things a day from it.

So today I will start in kitchen
Clean kitchen and remove everything from surfaces
Lightly sand window ledge/frame and plaster work around light switch
Wash/wipe down
Wash kitchen window
Find undercoat and paint

A wash is already on so will hang out when done
Next lot ready to go as well Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/04/2015 11:39

marathon 25 loads of washing of clothes - bedding- carseat covers- returned baby clothes- newly bought clothes - fuck knows what has been completed.

My mum is coming tomorrow for 3 weeks and Operation "Unfucking Loft & Garage & Books & Random Crap Big Time" is being planned and prepared as I'm typing this.

AdoraBell · 16/04/2015 11:51

Hope you have a great time with your mum visiting Zing and 25 loads of washing

Good luck with your mammoth snag list Fudge

My spine is still in the grip of AF so I predict a day of under achieving. Meh.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/04/2015 11:53

Zing are we supposed to wash new clothes? I just put them on! Have I been doing it wrong all my life?

I washed the kitchen floor yesterday. Feeling very chuffed with myself as it's a bitch to do - very soft lino which absorbs dirt to the only way to clean it is with a wet scrubbing brush to loosen the dirt, using towels to mop up the diry water as I go. Takes ages!

Massively busy day today (DS Swimming lesson / work / parents evening / dog training class) so don't expect to get much done, so instead my to-do list for the next few days:

  • Clean bathroom
  • Wrap and send FIL's birthday present
  • Order DS' swimming badge
  • Finalise report on friend's dog and send it to her.
  • Sow parsnip and beetroot seeds in the veggie patch.
  • Clean out the rabbit
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/04/2015 12:11

oh cupcakes

yes. you've fucked it upGrin

I have to wash everything before first use. There could factory chemical residue, dust, sweaty hands touching or people sneezing on - yuck yuck yuck.

In fact there was a House episode when people got seriously ill after wearing clothes that got accidentally covered in fertiliser liquid then dried and a CSI one where a bride died (or the groom?) after wearing clothes that were taken off dead people and had been exposed to chloroform. the toxins absorbed through the skin.
Yeah, I ain't risking anything!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/04/2015 12:42

Oh my god! I had never thought about the sneezing and mucky hands. Urgh. I'm going to have to wash everything now. My to-do list just got longer.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/04/2015 12:44

good girl. Wink Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/04/2015 12:47

love it though how sweaty hands concern you more than lethal toxinsGrin Grin

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/04/2015 12:51

I never thought about washing new clothes until I looked after a patient who happened to have severe learning difficulties whose carer was there a lot of the time. Anyway said carer told stories of huge bogie inducing sneezes* all over clothes, (plus other stories)

*obviously huge bogie inducing sneezing happens to us all.

Always go for clothes at back of rack now (but as I'm huge that's where I have to go anyway) and wash them

OP posts:
LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/04/2015 14:10

Yes I'll admit my priorities aren't always quite right!

Out of interest anybody know how to get lethal toxins out of clothes? I have v. sensitive skin so can only use certain washing liquids.

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/04/2015 15:37

Oh I just read my post from earlier. I honestly meant that the carer had many stories. The two of them got up to some high jinks when my patient had been well.

Anyway, feeling quite proud of self as done my list.
Hoping tomorrow is equally productive! But I've a scan 2mor afternoon so thinking it won't be.

Never mind. I even managed to squeeze in a bit time working on presentation thingy for friend

Now I'm waiting on Netflix loading and contemplating getting sewing machine out..... hmm or do I just make tea and lounge about?! Grin

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 16/04/2015 17:22

I went back to bed. I'm up again now. See, I lead such a thrilling lifeGrin

Loads to be done but nothing that can't wait until tomorrow after I collect the DDs.

I started washing new clothes when I had the DDs. They haven't picked up my concerns about CSI stylee contamination, they just wear their new clothes straight awayConfused

comeagainforbigfudge · 17/04/2015 10:18

Done second coat of painting
And first coat of gloss (hoping it only needs the one)

Small area really so only took half an hour! My wash I put on first isn't even finished yet!!

Got a scan later. Just going to tidy clean laundry away, put wash out to dry, then put 2nd one on and basically hang about until it's done before hanging out then I feel it's time to go into town to purchase maternity clothes. I've managed to get away with it so far (was given trousers for birthday but I managed to wear my own tops)

Hope you all have a nice day Grin

RaspberryBlonde · 17/04/2015 12:49

Hello all, usual Fruday tidying here so DH can clean tomorrow (otherwise he just cleans around the mess!). Laundry is out, shopping and errands done. Think this afternoon may be gardening if weather stays nice. Would really like to grow some veggies this year but suspect that might be a bit optimistic.

Have also sorted out a minor work crisis despite it being my day off, big deadline today. It's the downside of being off work on a Friday!

Hope your scan goes well, comeagain.

AdoraBell · 17/04/2015 13:18

Morning routine done plus driving DDs to school and filling up on petrol afterwards. The light came on as I hit the post school traffic jam, coasted into the petrol station on the fumes.

I did manage to get some unfucking done yesterday after all. 3 loads of washing and dinner, dishwasher unloaded and reloaded after we ate.

Off to Pilates in an hour or so.

Hope the scan and shopping trip go well Fudge

I would also like to grow some veg but I think with four large dogs it would be an excerise in futility.

AdoraBell · 17/04/2015 19:20

So,dog feeding - unfucked
Pilates - unfucked
Lunch - unfucked
Bung towels in washing machine - unfucked
Shed Pilates clothes and put on some actual out of the house clothes - unfucked
Paint nails - unfucked

That means the kitchen can stay minging until I get back with DDs. Will also dust the wooden floors later as the duster thing is in the machine with the towels.

comeagainforbigfudge · 17/04/2015 20:42

Scan went well. Thanks everyone.

Baby is behaving (as is placenta - reason for scan)

Shame lying on the couch getting scan did my back in. Been so uncomfortable since then Sad

Lying in bed ignoring all the mess that need sorted. Tomorrow is a new day.

And I get to collect my pictures from framers in the morn, so that is good Grin

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 18/04/2015 01:13

Glad the scan showed everything behaving Fudge but sorry it hurt your back. How the bleeding hell do you iron while laying down? Confused

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/04/2015 08:47

good result Fudge

it's Zinglette's birthday today, she is 3Smile

My mum arrived yesterday, I gave her BabyZing and said "here's your baby for the next 3 weeks" Grin
