Poorly DS here so don't know how much FLYing will happen today.

BarefootJasnem · 11/09/2006 08:21

Morning all,
Weekly shop and baby clinic here this am, but most of the home blessing was done over the weekend, so I'll be leaving a clean house.

Hi folks - what's the best way to start doing this - should I jump in on the weekly focus thing eg bathroom and another room, or should I look at baby steps? There's lots on the site and just thinking how best to start.

You all sound incredibly positive so it must be working!!!

DontlookatmeImshy · 11/09/2006 09:05

Glad your starting to feel a bit motivated TR,

MT- it basically helping those of us who live in states of permanent chaos and untidyness, hate it but can't get motivated to do anything about it because there is too much to do. It gets us to stop stressing about the bigger picture and work on small bits at a time, the end result being that eventually the bigger picture does become tidy.

A bit like that expression 'look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves' except it applies tohousekeeping rather than money

mummy2ashton · 11/09/2006 09:10

puff, i'd start with the baby steps, but they are so easy you will be able to join in on the zone work a bit aswell. remeber to declutter before starting zone work (in 15 minute bursts) and do kellys missions as they only take 5 minutes each! start small and you will eventually work up to the rest of it. good luck!

puff · 11/09/2006 09:12

okey doke, thanks

I really got the house under control before the summer holidays, but it all went to pot !

Chloe55 · 11/09/2006 09:15

Started bathroom flying last night, it's not finished yet but already smells much fresher whenever I walk in. I actually want people to come to my house now as I am getting so proud of it.

And, after numerous comments from dh about the house being untidy (which it never was particularly tbh) he is now giving me grief for being cleaning obsessed! Can't win really, can I?

Oh has anyone got any tips on how to get mould/mildew off rubber sealing in the shower? I have tried to bleach it but it seems stained.

shazronnie · 11/09/2006 09:22

Morning all!

You sound great today Trinity!

I think you have given me your cold Tortoise

Got to do some home blessing now, off to get my timer!

picture of me if you want to be nosy!

shazronnie · 11/09/2006 09:24

tortoise - i've been thinking of looking at the body clutter part on Flylady because i need to lose about a stone / firm up my belly!

Flamesparrow · 11/09/2006 09:32

Ooh you don't look how I expected! Not too sure what I did expect though....

Kitchen befores and afters Just feeding DS and will do the bathroom and DD's room ones.

I can't believe how little time it took to get straight last night.

boomie · 11/09/2006 09:34

Does anyone know what Kelly's mission is today? Thanks.

damewashalot · 11/09/2006 09:35

Help, whats wrong with me? You are all doing really well and making a difference and I'm just stuck here in a big bloody mess getting nowhere. If I start crying now I won't be able to stop, (i'm a bit emotional anyway as ds2 starts school at 10-30) before he left for work this morning dh said I know this is going to upset you but we really need to do something about the house, apart from your shiny sink mthe rest is going backwards Whats the point in trying? Ok it's untidy, but it's cleaner under the clutter and I felt I'd done really well friday sorting and getting clothes away Please tell me that the sink staying clean and the fact that I have cleaned the bathroom everyday for nearly 2 weeks for the first time ever counts for something.
I could just give up, theres no point trying if he's just going to pick on all of the stuff I haven't done
Sorry to go on and for the self pity, I'm going to go be with my little man until I have to take him to school, I'm so going to cry.

puff · 11/09/2006 09:35

flamey - looking good.

ps - I have that potato bag too

puff · 11/09/2006 09:38

dame - it sounds like you have made big improvements, so don't be down hearted! The impression I get from the site is that it will take a little time to get things really under control, but it's important to celebrate any positives!

puff · 11/09/2006 09:39

oh and men are notoriously bad for not seeing how much has really been achieved

Flamesparrow · 11/09/2006 09:40

Awww Dame. Remember - it took years to get in this state, its gonna take a while to plough through. Be as ruthless as you can with clutter - yes, you may have been given the figurine for a wedding anniversary, but do you still like and want it? Often the memory of recieving it is enough etc.

When you shine your sink, find just one thing each night to part with - it will soon start to clear.

BarefootJasnem · 11/09/2006 09:44

Oh, DW of course the shiny sink counts! It doesn't matter how much I clean, dp always spots the thing I haven't done and points it out. It makes me really mad, and causes arguments, but even he can se that things are improving and has backed off a bit (but then he started moaning about me leaving all the lights on instead. )
Go and spend time with your babies, then try and do a quick house blessing later.

kellys mission is decluttering toiletries.

Flame there is a door in the last picture that you couldn't see before.

I'm going to try and start on the bathroom while ds is asleep (I got the baby clinic time wrong so I can't go yet)
