Hi all, After a pretty rough ride last year (2012) I think I feel ready to start again with babysteps
So who's with me for the journey?

Old and new steppers are welcome!

Lets do this one small step at a time!

OP posts:
educatingarti · 25/01/2013 19:19

Evening everyone
Ta das ( sadly very few)
Bag of stuff to charity shop
Went to bank
1 hour of work done
mopped up roughly after knocking a mug of tea over half the kitchen and some of the hall ( need to do a proper wipe round!)
Load of washing done!

To dos
More work
mopping round kitchen
Whatever else I can manage before I give up for the night! ( probably not much)

Glad your dd is better Adora

It sounds like you did a fair bit arti - but how on earth did you manage to make such a mess with just 1 cup of tea? Grin

This arvo I washed some maternity/bf clothes ready to take to the second hand shop on tuesday and have just made a start on the meal plan but am really watching something we recorded on the tv.

I've lost track of the baby-steps - have we got up to the 'go to bed early' one yet? I really need to do that, but must finish this Wine first Grin

Even more gutted - I assumed it hadn't worked because they were all together Sad

educatingarti · 26/01/2013 18:39

Evening all Grin at Helles attempts to be vaguely Scottish!

Well I was working this morning. Did a little bit of essentials shopping at Lidl and decided to let myself have a snooze on the sofa for an hour or two. I slept till gone 5.00pm

So far my tada's today ( apart from working) consist of putting a load of washing in the machine and putting dirties in the dishwasher.

Bessie - It's amazing how far one mug of tea will go. It was on the kitchen work surface and I knocked it off and the mug pretty much bounced on the vinyl. The tea flew up in a huge tsunami of liquid splashing both sides of my narrow-ish galley kitchen (eg cupboards, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and drawer unit) and, as it was near the door, also out onto the hall carpet. I can send you exact instructions if you would like to conduct a scientific evaluation in your own kitchen!

I'm going to attempt to get another 30 minutes admin work done at least!

bessie26 · 26/01/2013 19:14

Haha arti - I have dambusters style images of your teacup in my head! [bgrin]

DH couldn't play golf today because of the snow, so I made the most of his presence by scuttling off to bed as soon as DD2 went for her nap!

I've done nearly all the laundry (just DD's clothes to go in once they are in bed), and DH has vacuumed everywhere. Just need to finish the meal plan & that bottle of wine tonight.

HellesBelles396 · 26/01/2013 23:27

I have that music (might have been on 80's brut advert
duh-duh-du-du duh-duh-du-du duh-du-du-duuuuh-duh-d-duh
hope that makes sense to more than just me!

educatingarti · 27/01/2013 18:12

yy bessie
It was exactly like dambusters, except not in slow motion.
I still found another splash mark on the fridge this morning (at about shoulder height!) and I still haven't washed the kitchen floor properly

AdoraBell · 27/01/2013 20:42

I'm having a short scive, both DDs are at a friend's for the arvo and I'm having a coffee and catching a few sun rays before getting some groceries. After that I'll go home and vacuum at the very léast, the place is a tip before collecting DDs.

AdoraBell · 28/01/2013 01:55

Quick update, I ain't done dufinBlush

Got back with shopping and OH called-for an hour- then I had to collect DD's and I'm now cooking dinner, at this time of nightShock I'm staaaaaaaarving!

educatingarti · 28/01/2013 10:35

Adora I didn't get any vacuuming done yesterday either!
Hope you have a more productive day today.

bessie26 · 28/01/2013 11:22

BabyStep 28 - eat, drink & sleep!

Scout19075 · 28/01/2013 14:44

I am grateful I am going out for drinks with a friend tonight with no husbands and no toddlers. If it weren't for that to look forward to I might have lost my marbles by now. Honestly. I am fed up with a whinging toddler, this crap weather, this shitty house and a husband who just won't get rid of his crap.

liveinazoo · 28/01/2013 15:03

educatingarti · 28/01/2013 16:07

Scout Sad
Sorry you are having such abad day!
What is wrong with the house? (sadly I can imagine all too well what might be wrong with a whinging toddler and a dh who won't get rid of crap!)
If you lived nearby I could come and take SmallBoy off your hands for an hour to give you a break but I think it is a bit far.( Actually - come to think about it I could take Mr Scout and SmallBboy off your hands for an hour --while you chuck out Mr Scout's crap!)

bessie26 · 28/01/2013 16:18

scout I know we have discussed this before, but does your DH really understand just how bad the clutter in the house makes you feel? I think you must have the patience of a saint, coz I would have either thrown everything out, or gone absolutely bonkers at him by now!

zoo 6000 steps is fantastic! I doubt I do anywhere near that (will have to try to dig mine out) I think they say that 10,000 a day is the target?

This morning i was brave & walked both the DDs round to the postbox (i would usually pop DD2 in the buggy), but everyone behaved themselves, so we celebrated with some mini cheddars when we got home. This arvo, I've helped paint an umbrella, done my usual Monday house blessing & made a Cheese & Lentil loaf. I have also drunk 2 mugs of herbal tea.

AdoraBell · 28/01/2013 18:06

Scout

So sorry you're feeling bad. Have you told MrScout that the clutter stresses you out. I had To tell my OH that when he mentiones putting even moré ornaments out I feel physically sick. He's got the message now and keeps his "stuff" in cupboards and drawers that I don't need To use.

Zoo glad you've had Such a nice time with zoolets and well done on your flying and 6000 steps.

Ta Da's (I actually have some To report today)

Up showered and dressed
Breakfast
DW emptied by DDs
DW reloaded and on
2 loads of Washing both on the line.
Dogs fed and watered
Booked DD's dental appt.
Snack with DDs before running errands

Scout19075 · 29/01/2013 00:04

I feel much better after having been out with my friend. I need to do it more often (go out to the pub with friends no husband, no SmallBoy and down a cola or two). I have told MrScout but I think he needs to hear it again.

bessie26 · 29/01/2013 10:07

Glad you feel better scout - book up another night out with your friend straight away! And yes, tell him repeatedly. My DH has the memory of a goldfish for things like this!

I have a day off work & no kids!!! So do I go to the pub, sleep all day, or clean & declutter?

So far I have listed 2 baby things on the for-sale board at work, now off to take a bag of maternity clothes to the second hand shop & pop to the supermarket.

BabyStep 29 - do some pampering!!! Grin

educatingarti · 29/01/2013 10:09

Scout - glad you had a great evening. It is very easy to get stuck on all the "must do's" and end up leaving out recreation!
I had quite a good day yesterday - got enough work done and re-listed my phonics leaflet on ebay which is exciting ( or will be if anyone buys it!)
I got rid of a load of rubbish.

Today's ta da so far
up, breakfasted, dressed and hair dried,
bathroom swished and swiped,
load in washing machine and in dishwasher

Hope the day continues well for everyone!

bessie26 · 29/01/2013 10:42

Oooh links to the phonics leaflet please arti!

I'm waiting for the WM to finish before I go out Also spent ages looking for my purse, before realising I have left it in the change bag that has gone off with the kids to grandma's. So have had to cross off all super-market related stuff from my list

educatingarti · 29/01/2013 10:58

Happy to email the leaflet to any regular posters on this thread for free (what are friends for), if you pm me an email.
It is listed as fun with phonics, reading and spelling and outlines fun ways that parents can help their children with these areas. (Bessie - I've vague feelings that I might have already sent it to you? I may have misremembered that though!)

Scout19075 · 29/01/2013 11:12

Oh yes, have emailed my friend and said "what date in February should we do it again?" She's one of my HE friends and we're big on setting up dates for the kids to play, dates for the kids to do specific activities and in trying to get the mums together in the evening for socializing. I think it should be a monthly affair (at least!).

SmallBoy was up over night from 1:30 until after 6 a.m. and up for the day at 8 o'clock. I am exhausted (I got to bed around 12:15 and asleep around 12:30) and he's starting to Toddler melt-down due to tiredness. I told him this morning that we were going to have a quiet day at home playing, watching some television and that both of us were going to have a rest in our beds today. If for some reason he doesn't rest properly today bedtime will be stupidly early! We have Forest School in the morning tomorrow and I can't handle a crabby toddler in a strange forest with other toddlers.
