Welcome to the June 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Park your mops, buckets and microfibre cloths here!!

A huge "thank you" to Toffee for leading us throughout May!! Hope you have a fabulous holiday in Spain!!

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here, here and here

All welcome!!

Been fairly productive this morning, washed and put away all my cutlery and utensils. I'm hoping to have the kitchen fully unpacked by the end of the bank holiday, it's so hard to decide where to put everything!
I think I'll miss out the lace up shoes bit. Quite happy lounging in my pjs thanks!

Hope everyone has a lovely BH weekend!

PositiveAttitude · 02/06/2012 09:44

Not had time to read through yet, sorry.

Just made 50 cupcakes and 85 small jelly pots for a jubilee party tomorrow. Crown Crown
Now off for a day of mainland shopping!! Grin Grin You cannot understand the excitement this causes for anyone who is island born and bred like me!! Grin It feels like another very expensive world over there. List of shopping: ipad for DD3s 18th birthday on friday this week, Kindle for DD4s birthday after we arrive in Cambodia. (I can get these at a much reduced price from John Lewis with DHs Partner card, hence mainland trip) Clothes and essentials for me, DH, DS and DD4 for going away. Just me and DS going today, I am really looking forward to a day out with him, he is fun to be with! Smile Plus he needs a good day out after GCSE stress.

Could be in serious need of a Wine tonight, so be back to let you know how poor I am I got on.

likelucklove · 02/06/2012 10:00

Morning all!

Carpe :O mine did that as well! Bloody gits! Make him pay for it all weekend Wink

Positive Exciting! Sounds like an expensive day though! Enjoy it Smile

Get dd up and dressed to go out
Make bed and cot

Eat 3x meals
Do 15 mins decluttering in dining room
Clean out car
Go out and get cake ingredients

I thought have someone babysit was supposed to be relaxing?! But all I'm doing is cleaning for my DM to come over tomorrow since I refuse to do it on my birthday!

Hope you all have a good weekend but it's tipping it down here Sad

WhoKnowsWhereHerMajestyGoes · 02/06/2012 10:27

Just been to town as we decided a bit late that we needed bunting, but none to be found, so I am printing out some templates for the DCs to colour in.

DWM - yes! Scoring your DH on his lists sounds like great fun! Has he got his apron and lace up shoes at the ready?

BitchyInTheCorner · 02/06/2012 10:29

Proper is, Mycat, I don't know what it is to eat normally. Can't even remember the last time I did. Today has been better.

Breakfast: One cup of brew up non instant coffee and scrambled egg on toast - at breakfast time* Shock

Woke up without the alarm going off at 8:30am. ds is away for the weekend but is more then happy to sort himself out in the morning (means less restriction on time on ds/tv).

Currently on second cup of coffee and about to get started on sorting some of this disaster that is maskerading as my life. First stop - mount washmore. also know as the laundry

BitchyInTheCorner · 02/06/2012 10:34

obviously the shock of a gd night's sleep is taking its toll.

*Problem is
*Brewed up coffee (machine not instant)
*Ds normally leaves me to sleep at weekends so to wake up without an alarm is rare as sleep has been of very bad qualitity recently so has been measured in duration rather then restorative quality. Currently got the old occassional matress on my bed and matress quality would appear to be to blame.

Hope you all succeed in your goals and that you have good days!

BitchyInTheCorner · 02/06/2012 10:36

Oh fuck. wrong thread. Utter utter fail BlushBlushBlush

Sorry!!!!!!

DH has taken two children to Brighton by train...phew! We had the most almighty scuffle trying to get anyone out of the house, Ds1 in typical teen fashion wanted to collapse and do nothing so he has stayed behind with me (also in typical teen mode Blush

I told dd off for sucking her thumb (she is 10) whilst I was perusing whether there WAS in fact a train link between Shepherd's Bush and Brighton (however this was never made clear by the train websites, so we will never know Confused I HATE THOSE JOURNEY PLANNERS!) and she hit me..so not a good start to Jubilee weekend

BLUEEYESHADOW tell me all on your return as I have booked a holiday cottage in Broadstairs (which may be seedier than I imagined) and have never been to that part of England before.

Done
yesterday, cataloguing YAY
booked plane tickets YAY
booked holiday cottage in Kent
bank transfer
took dd to swimming lesson
encouraged ds2 to play footie at leisure club
cooked pasta for Dh
big supermarket shop for £50 YAY
invites handed out for Ds2 cricket/scavenger hunt party [gulp] making that one up as I go along that for sure Blush well at least have a date now!

feeling v tired and listless this morning though..must try and tidy the house before the troops return. Also need to take Ds1 out

SC hurrah for school fete - what are your duties????Grin I was seriously considering leaving the country or least London for our school fete, must try and be more positive this year!!

sanguinechompa · 02/06/2012 13:42

Just came on to say "Happy Birthday" to Likeloveluck which I forgot to do this morning - hope I have the day right and that you have a lovely time!

Oh the school fete Swan - must confess to absolutely loathing the whole thing. One entire day of shopping for ingredients and equipment. One entire day of baking. Several days of sewing. Then having to attend/help/be on one's feet for hours/trying to speak in three different languages/trying not to blub when dd and classmates do their "spectacle"/vaguely keeping track of dd while she negotiates 20 or so different games & stalls/sorting out change in different languages (I'm bad enough at this in English)/trying to remember the names and names of siblings of other parents/dc and failing/ and generally feeling wholly unattractive and inadequate in comparison to all the stunningly thin and attractive Italian/Spanish/French mothers who can all speak at least five languages with nonchalence!! I usually have to be carried out on a stretcher ....

Hope your day gets better and that you manage to factor in some r & r for yourself!! Great that your holiday plans are taking shape.

Huge waves to everyone else! Better get back to watching the Derby sewing ...

Sorry - forgot to say

Good luck with the kitchen choccchip Must be quite satisfying starting up from fresh ...

[Does double take at PA's 50 cupcakes and 80 jellies all before 10 am!!!!] Now that's impressive!!! Enjoy the retail therapy!

Big wing flaps to Bitchy and Whoknows and to everyone else ...

Thank you sc it's tomorrow but my DP keeps saying its today because I'm the only Queen allowed to have a special day and no one is throwing a party for me Sad

To do

Get up, showered, dressed, nice hair and make up, but no shoes on in this house! - Baby step 2
Get dd up and dressed to go out
Make bed and cot
Hoover
Polish
Wipe down surfaces
Ring DAuntie
Eat 3x meals - 1
Do 15 mins decluttering in dining room
Clean out car Taking it now to be hoovered and washed
Go out and get cake ingredients
Make cake
Put old clothes into attic
Take black bags to charity shop Being picked up Wednesday

DP took DD to town at 11am and I've been on my own since :O Enjoyed being able to just carry on and I'm going to clean the car before I get them to save them getting the bus back. Should hopefully get everything done on my list if the cake doesn't explode trust me, it's happened, too much baking flour Blush

PositiveAttitude · 02/06/2012 17:37

WhoKnows - just remembered your message from the last thread. No, sorry, it is Red funnel we get vouchers for. Sad that we will miss you yet again!

Well, back from the shopping trip. If the ache in my feet and the amount of money spent is a marker of how good the day was, it must have been VERY good! Blush DS was very good but did falter in Primark John Lewis and showed that the men in our family are just not cut out for shopping. He enjoyed the Harry Ramsden for lunch though. Hmm
Bought a couple of things for me and thee birthday presents we went for, so a good trip all round.

Now just cook curry, feet up and Wine is the plan for me.

Chocchip88 · 02/06/2012 18:04

Well looks like everyone has had a productive day! I too have a cake to make, I thought it would be a good test of the new oven.
So left to do today:
bake cake
bath DS,
put kitchen stuff that's on surfaces away.

First of all need to rest my aching legs!

BitchyInTheCorner · 02/06/2012 19:55

Ta da:
remove matress (normal size but old and knackered)
Replace with lurking not normal size matress
Stuff gaps with spare duvet and pillows
laundry
Work on big project in progress
Visit fabric shop spend too much money
play with new fabric - make a bag complete except I put the sodding lining in the wrong way wrong so need to unpick and restitch
work out pieces needed for tomo.

Mostly spent the day crafting. Plan is to mostly spend the day crafting tomo too. Although out around tea time.

Have good evenings.

likelucklove · 02/06/2012 20:20

Sounds like everyone has had a good day with lots of cakes

I ended up making a lemon drizzle cake with sherbet lemon on top for a garden party tomorrow. I'm trying my hardest not to eat it, I should have made 2!

All have a good evening Smile

sanguinechompa · 02/06/2012 21:16

Hi everyone

Hope you have enjoyed the Derby/the Football/the bunting construction/the baking (delete where applicable!)

I'm, er, somewhat in panic-striken mode. Actually not somewhat at all. I'm nearing full-on panic but have just spent a satisfying 45 mins wiring two bunny cages together to make them a larger enclosure (they have grown!!). Then bedded them down with mounds of hay, a bowl of fresh water, some carrot tops and a nice smattering of organic hay with camomile flowers to top it off. I swear I was tempted to get in there with them myself.

Still working on red riding hood costume (second attempt). Haven't started cakes yet Shock Oh why, oh why, oh why can't I be more efficient like PA and get my baking done early. Actually - I think I will be baking very early ... in the early hours of this morning!!!

Likelucklove Sorry!! Had a feeling I had got the wrong end of the stick!! Hope you are treated like a Queen tomorrow anyway!!! [Hands over Crown] Well done on your completed list!!

Bitchy Envy at fabric shop visit

[Hands comfy footstool over to Chocchip] Take it steady!

Cheers PA Wine!!

Flaps wings at everyone else!!

Tomorrow's baby-step, number three, for Sunday 3rd June is here repeating first two steps ie shiny sink and lace up shoes!! Suggest you don't sign up to Big Tent though or you will be inundated with e-mails.

No zones or missions, or kids challenge, because it is the weekend.

Sunday's focus is renew your spirit day

Flight plan for tomorrow should appear here once website updates itself.

Oh dear - and I see that there was a kids challenge today - even though it is the weekend. Sorry I got that wrong! Anyway, it should update for tomorrow here

Enjoy the Jubilee celebrations everyone!!

Oh yes, and baby-step no.4 may be posted early on Monday morning if I don't get on here tomorrow. (Tied up all day at dd's school fete and possibly going on to Jubilee party in evening.)

Envy at all the jubilee celebrations!

Ta da...
washing-up x2
swish and swipe of bathroom
filled freezer with snacks for DS this week
2 lots of washing done, dried, and waiting to go away
planted tom/pepper plants
hoovered upstairs and downstairs
long chat with Dsis
spent far too long on MN
bathed DS
made running playlist for tomorrow
charged iPod

was a real lazy arse this afternoon. DS (7 months) was up between 12.30 and 2 last night and ended up sleeping in our bed for the first time since the first week he was born. Knackered and should be in bed now!

and all this talk of cake is making me hungry!

MoreCatsThanKids · 02/06/2012 23:08

foad · 02/06/2012 23:17

Hello! Here I am bookmarking for a renewed start in June...

Decluttered the utility corridor today, then got distracted when the neighbours put up bunting and said they were surprised I hadn't made some. Cheeky buggers. So of course I had to go and make some (25 metres odd) out of ood jeans, pillowcases and red gingham. Very shabby chic, and now very wet cos it's pissing down here in Lissingdown. Still, face is saved...

Anyway I've brought a bottle of sloe gin and some jubilee french fancies for the Speakeasy....(slopes off behind curtain wondering why she can't do pointy brackets on her Blackberry...)

(pops head out to say TVM to SC and wave hello to chocchip)

CarpeJugulum · 03/06/2012 08:34

Morning, just a quicky more to place mark than anything!

Lazy morning and then off shopping Hmm this afternoon to get stuff from the big city. Really hate town shopping, but needs must.

Back to flying tomorrow!

BlueEyeshadow · 03/06/2012 08:51

Morning! The journey was dire but we made it and the boys got an hour on the beach before the weather closed in...

Hoping to visit Broadstairs one day this week so will let you know swan.

laurenamium · 03/06/2012 09:00

Morning all! Another one with no flying to report Blush

I had a friend come round for a girls night in last night and despite her having 2 DC her house is like a show home all the time (I have tried catching her out too! Grin) so I did a bit of a crisis clean before she came and she's talked me into redecorating too Hmm

jubilee party here too today, off to the local park with a picnic as they are putting on a party Smile

Today I also need to:
Put up the outdoor letter box and seal off other letter box
Get landlord dad to look at leaking boiler
Start painting skirting boards and doorframes
Clean bathroom

That will do! BBL!!

likelucklove · 03/06/2012 09:11

Morning! Hope you all enjoy your jubilee celebrations! Blue at least they had some nice time Smile bloody typical weather though isn't it?

To Do

Get up and dressed in messy clothes, then my nice clothes and make up for party
Get DD up and dressed
Make bed and cot
Go and get more cake ingredients to make another one
Hoover roughly
Mop floors
Do 15 mins decluttering in hallway
Shine sink - Baby step 3
Clean bathrooms and kitchen roughly

That will all be done in the next two hours and then I give up and I will have a nice relaxing day Smile gets prepared to eat words

Hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy you Jubilee parties!
