Welcome to the June 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Park your mops, buckets and microfibre cloths here!!

A huge "thank you" to Toffee for leading us throughout May!! Hope you have a fabulous holiday in Spain!!

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here, here and here

All welcome!!

I wish I had remembered to get some alcohol in too Carpe! It's a lovely feeling knowing your not going to get up at ungodly o'clock, isn't it? And an extra night with the bank holiday and he has to because it's my birthday Grin

Well done Toffee! Now enjoy your holiday Smile Lovely weather I hope for you!

elliepac · 01/06/2012 22:04

yay toffee, well done to you and your ds. You've come so far. Have a fab timeSmile.

droitwichmummy · 01/06/2012 22:06

'Dear fellow fledglings, I am officially doing a bunk (from flying not MN - this is not a flounce!). I have handed my feather duster to DH who is now a SAHD. Enjoy the snacks - there should be enough to last until the next ice age.
Happy flapping!
DWM
PS SC I saw this Crown and thought of you'

Evening all. Relatively quiet on here. Hope that means you are all out on date nights!

Speaking of date nights, I have been snogged by a rabbit (well, licked on the lips to be precise) which was, er, different ....

Apparently it's a great compliment in rabbit language!

Dh rejected perfectly respectable leftovers and went and bought us a traiteur supper for three, so now I have eaten far too much again [willpower of slug emoticon]

Likelucklove you've done loads today! Top Flying marks! Um, I'm no medical expert but I think 7 litres is too much. Copied this from US Mayo Clinic site,

"The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

Honu arf at portaloo barking! Perhaps dog thinks it would make a good kennel.

Hope went ok at doc's Carpe

Enjoy your well-deserved half-term break Ellie

[Looks over shoulder to locate Bitchy. Lowers voice. See you at the juice bar still later everyone]

Yay, DWM - good to hear from you. Is DroitwichDaddy going to join the thread then? I don't think we've had any men on here yet.

Helllllooooo Droitwich!!! [Snaffles snacks] Great to see you!! Very envious of chore delegation. Does your dh want to join the thread too? [Adjusts crown in mirror Grin]

Not as far as I know but its early days yet. I am leaving him notes!
I could always post his list here and score his efforts when I get home [evil Grin ]

WhoKnowsWhereHerMajestyGoes · 01/06/2012 22:17

Zero Flying here today. Although I have unpacked all the school bookbags and backpacks and stuck them in the wash, they were all smelly. But that really was about it.

I did spend about three hours helping with various Jubilee activities at school though.

Off to bed now, night night.

sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 22:17

Great minds think alike Whoknows! Lace-up shoes shouldn't present too many problems for blokes ...

Droitwich resounding 'yes' to evil point scoring Grin Or perhaps you could open up the judging to entire thread [even more evil emoticon]

I will pop in from time to time to catch up and restock the bar. I've bought some bunting with me as it was not looking very festive earlier.

BlueEyeshadow · 01/06/2012 22:21

So glad you made it Toffee!

Suitcases have been retrieved, the shed emptied of cricket bats, tennis sets etc and the puncture in DS2's ready bed located and patched. I'm starting to believe we're going on holiday tomorrow too! I've also had a few answers re Margate on my other thread. I think the holiday house has wifi so may pop in from time to time next week.

Waves to all and departs trailing packing lists...

sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 22:32

Hope your sinks are all glistening! And that you have been drinking lots of water!

Tomorrow's baby-step, number two, for 2nd June is the controversial one which many on here ignore.

This is the Fat Fairy rationale behind it.

No zones or missions, or kids challenge, because it is the weekend.

Saturday's focus is family fun time here

Hope those of you enjoying a Bank Holiday have a long and relaxing w/e.

So far today I have failed at flying. failed at being an organised mum. failed at successfully planning treats and being able to do fun stuff. failed at fighting the food demons And failed at being able to be pleasant company ended up being a very nasty bitchy. In short today is a shit day.

well done to toffee's ds1 hope it continues

nice of you to pop by dwmummy. you do know that you could just pop by for the chat. some of us find the flying bit optional

ouch LL rest up and hope you have a better day tomo.

Oh no Bitchy you definitely haven't failed. We all have off-days and you need to put those in the context of all the other successful days you've had. (Failure and success highly subjective anyway!!) This is just a glitch. Think of everything you achieved yesterday for example! Tis a marathon, not a sprint. Thanks

OP posts:
sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 22:45

Oh dear, was heading for bed but can hear odd crashing noises from downstairs

think we may have bunny break-out

OP posts:
BitchyInTheCorner · 01/06/2012 22:53

I achieved stuff yesterday? I think you have me mixed up with someone else.

sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 23:19

Bitchy See your ta da list from yesterday Smile

You set up the Wii for your ds, took apart your bed, washed all bedding, sorted storage, worked on a project, and sorted out stuff for your ds's training - that's not half bad!! So don't be too down on yourself.

Btw - Whoknows/Lauren having revisited May thread, I have just opened that link to Pete Burn's lips!!! Shock eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

CarpeJugulum · 02/06/2012 07:44

Morning all.

DH is suitably contrite this morning as the conversation in the middle of the night went:
Me: DH, that's DS awake
DH: I'm tired
Me: yes, but you're on duty tonight and he's up
DH: I'm tired
Me: it's your turn
DH: you go
Me: Shock Hmm Angry

So was up in the night, but didn't even try resettling DS, just bunged him on the floor beside me and zonked.

Sadly I need to work this weekend but am going to local fair/fete thing this morning and then getting my hair cut. Still, it's all pennies in the bank eventually! Grin

Will try to stick on a washing today as it's lovely and sunny so will hopefully get it dry. No clue about this afternoon though!

Engelsmeisje · 02/06/2012 08:42

will catch up in a minute...but I can FINALLY shine my sink properly this month. DH replaced our tap yesterday which has been dripping for the last year and then some

Engelsmeisje · 02/06/2012 08:50

have a great holiday toffee

Shock at DH carpe Did you give him a special wake-up call this morning (i.e. banging saucepans next to his head)?

MaggieMcVitie · 02/06/2012 08:54

Going to try the zones this month methinks as well as babysteps...

DH has taken the DS's swimming this am so I can catch up mumsnet

To do's today;
Shine sink
Clean/hoover bedrooms
Swish and swipe
Sweep hard floors
Tackle hall and porch Hmm
Mow lawn
Put up flags/bunting Grin

Off to neighbours this pm for Jubilee party so better get cracking!

sanguinechompa · 02/06/2012 09:18

Morning all. I won't be around much today and tomorrow, save for posting links I'm afraid. Mahoosive prep for dd's school fete.

Bitchy hope you have a better day today.

Carpe hope you can renegotiate 'terms' for tonight and Sunday night in your favour (or threaten to go and sleep in a hotel!)
Yay to the shiny sink Engelsmeijse You have passed your initiation with Flying colours (geddit?) A free packet of 80 dernier tan tights and a pair of extra-strong shoelaces is wending its way to you ....!!Grin
Maggie Good for you - it's my intention to start on zones soon but I'm ashamed to admit that I still haven't decluttered sufficiently. Getting close to being able to do Zone 1 though. Enjoy your party!!

And to all of you who will be out there this weekend celebrating the Diamond Jubilee - may your bunting be taut and your Pimms sopo-terrific!

[I've just read out that bit to Dh - a confirmed republican - he's making retching gestures Grin]

Have a good weekend everyone!!!!!!
