sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 08:27

Welcome to the June 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Park your mops, buckets and microfibre cloths here!!

A huge "thank you" to Toffee for leading us throughout May!! Hope you have a fabulous holiday in Spain!!

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here, here and here

All welcome!!

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 10:48

See, I don't find getting to Doncaster too bad - but then I know that area due to PIL. Still a bugger to drive though Sad

Now I'm pissed off with DS as he's (despite frequent warnings!) just pulled all the cables out of the back of the tv, then pulled his penis out his nappy and pee'd down his leg and then ran off round the house. So I have "pee prints" everywhere.

He's had a row, been cleaned up and put to bed and told that there will be no swimming as I'm disappointed in him, and that it was a naughty thing to do.

Going to give it a few more mins, then if he hasn't conked out, I'll go hug him.

ARGH!!!! Boys!!!!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/06/2012 11:11

You wait till the day he can stand at the loo to wee and then you go in and without noticing the puddle on the floor you drop your trousers, only to pull them up and find them soaked in wee...

Or the day you walk into the same puddle with stockinged feet...

BitchyInTheCorner · 01/06/2012 11:11

Getting to doncaster it easy getting around is the bit i dislike. Boys indeed carpe Grin hate to warn you they don't get much better I have squashed snails in the carpet atm thank goodness we are cleaning the carpets when the garden is sorting and thank fuck the garden is no longer my problem

CBA-itis here today. the day is slipping away from me. :(

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 11:21

Bitchy you should have seen me this time last year - clutching the dashboard in fear as DH drove down a bus only road; merrily saying that this was the quickest route.

When the buses only sign was pointed out to him, he said "oh thy never used to be like that". Well yes, but you haven't lived there for 15 years DH! Grin

Every visit to PIL is punctuated with "ooooh, that's changed!", "they've built x, y, z"

sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 13:46

Lordy you lot ... leave you alone for a morning and there's empty bottles and fag ends all over the naughty corner ... and two bouncers standing outside . They are saying that Ellie sent them Confused

Have spent all morning choring. (Unusual though that may sound Grin)

After 5 mins lovingly stroking our new boiler and luxuriating in a HOT bath (yay!) I spent 2.5 hours sorting/cleaning/sweeping/hoovering my laundry room and organising the ironing pile(s) for my twice-fortnightly-ironing-lady-who-actually-only-comes-once-every-three-or-five-weeks-but-who-has-actually-turned-up-today!! Yippee!!

Then spent 40 mins cleaning up rained-on-rabbit-poo from the terrace (lovely!) and generally sorting out their outdoor accommodation for the day.

Then spent another hour and a bit tidying cleaning the kitchen (no cleaning lady this week)

Then another hour and a bit hoovering up the clouds of white plaster dust that have risen up Confused the house and landed on the 2nd and 3rd floors Confused

So sitting down now with a cup of coffee to catch up on all your activities ... back in a mo...;

Just an update from me just had the hour from hell! But got lots done before!

To do

Get up and dressed
Get dd up and dressed
Make bottles when running low x how many
Baby step 1
Make bed and cot
Hoover
Polish
Wipe down surfaces
Make bread Now in bin
Research best cake for jubilee garden party Whether I can make it is another thing
Ring DAuntie
Send email RE complaint
Fill out and send letter
Phone DDad
Phone DM
Make list of what clothes I have for 3-6 months so I know what I need
Eat 3x meals - 1
Drink at least 7 lts water
Do 15 mins decluttering in dining room 3 black bags to go to charity shop from previous tenants Hmm
Try and get DD down early so me and DP can have date night
Clean out car and purse

Things I did not 'plan' for

DD pooing everywhere which resulted in her needing a bath and me chucking out clothes (she's grown out of them anyway)

Water going off halfway through running her bath so colder water than she was used to resulting in a screaming tantrum

Finding out all the electricity gone off for some reason

DD crying manically for a bottle I couldn't heat up

Whilst trying to walk and placate DD, I fell over with her in my arms Sad She seems ok but this tipped me over the edge, sprained by wrist and can't put much pressure on foot because it's throbbing

I got the electricity back on all by myself though Grin

I'm going back to bed with DD, cba to do anymore with all that happened. Will resume later though

Hope your all having a better day than me! Feel sorry for me when I'm whining Wink I should feel sorry for you if you had to read all that though!

likelucklove · 01/06/2012 13:58

sc :O wow you've done amazing! Enjoy your well deserved break.

Carpe :( Did you give him a hug after? I can't really relate since DD is my only but my DB did something similar and all I remember is DM going ballistic. So you did well I think Smile don't know Doncaster either

BlueEyeshadow · 01/06/2012 14:26

What a chapter of accidents LLL - hope your afternoon improves! Have a Brew

Well done lauren - that's amazing!

Alternating between trying to drum up work and playing with DS2 today. Have also managed laundry and a bit of gardening.

There seems to be a lot of wee and poo talk on the thread today. DS2 took exception to a different brand of nappy from usual this morning and tried to pull it off. He obviously succeeded better than we realised because later on DH found a puddle on the sitting room floor and a boy with wet trousers. Said nappy halfway down his leg. Sigh.

BlueEyeshadow · 01/06/2012 14:26

Oh, meant to ask - does anybody know the Margate area? I've started a couple of threads asking about things to do there but had no responses. :(

sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 14:31

oops - twice-fortnightly should have read fortnightly (confusing myself now)

chocchip88 congratulations on your pregnancy! [Stocks illicit bar with Bavaria, selection of fruit juices, ginger ale and crackers]

A warm welcome to PrinceWilliamaflip (arf at SUMOS) Love the idyllic sound of your list - elderly uncles, village fete and greenhouse. You don't happen to live in Midsomer do you? Grin

Bitchy safe travelling and be careful on those ramps!! [hands over strong shot of espresso]

Engelsmeijse wish I had a plant fairy Envy. Good luck at the gynae. [Faints at thought of hill race.]

Likelucklove there's no right or wrong way -just post lists to suit your own scheduleSmile. Have I read this right - are you intending to drink 7 litres of water today Shock???

Thank you Linzer for directing me to kid's challenge - don't know how I missed that!

Carpe Save me the Wine and Biscuit for later on pls. Trying to make a costume for dd's performance at end of term fete this Sun and it's just not 'happening'. Dh says it's because I am trying to be organised for once and am not sufficiently panicked yet ie it needs to be 11pm night before performance for extreme sewing skills to kick in!

Arf at your ds!! If it's any consolation, I was cleaning up rabbit paw prints from the parquet this morning - they love jumping about in puddles and then running inside!!

lauren Wow! Congratulations on your weight loss! How did you do it if you don't mind me asking? (My healthy eating regime has failed miserably yet again and I'm feeling very porky atm.)

Swan oh yes the cool air is lovely isn't it? Not half as oppressive here as yesterday. And thanks for your kind words but don't worry - not much chance of regular round-ups this month I'm afraid - too many other things on! Glad the garden is taking shape!! It sounds lovely!! (I should be visiting the supermarket today but I am going to 'make do' tonight and sew instead.)

[Settles Whoknows and Carpe in naughty corner with light quilts, fluffy pillows and bottle of gin ]

Hope you and dd enjoy the party Morecats!

Better go and rescue rabbits from rain ...and get back to pondering my sewing machine

Huge wing flaps to everyone else!!

x-posts

[Doffs hat to all of you attempting to Fly with babies and toddlers - tis not an easy thing!!]

Likelucklove oh no - hope your wrist recovers soon - that sounds really painful! Hope your afternoon improves!!

And thank you - I am chuffed with my morning's work - actually managed to make visible progress for once (instead of just 'maintaining' ifyswim)!!

Waves to Blue (sorry - although we visit Kent regularly from across the water - don't have a clue about Margate) Is there a Mumsnet local group you could ask?

OP posts:
sanguinechompa · 01/06/2012 16:01

Oh dear, well dh has returned home from work early for once (a thrice-annual event) and is terribly unimpressed that there is only leftovers for supper. (Should be proper 'fish night' tonight.) I've cleaned the kitchen ready for baking marathon tomorrow and am busy sewing and I am NOT giving in ... even though he is sporting his 'someone has died' look ...

He's had excellent dinners all this week (even if I do say so myself) - but he is over-tired which makes him grouchy and hungry - so feel guilty now [sigh]

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 17:40

DH home early tonight to let me go to docs, so he has taken DS down the play park so I've stuck a Wine in the fridge.

DS was hugged and kissed before going to sleep and this afternoon has been okay - I got the grass cut with him playing and then went to the supermarket.

Planning to chill this evening, then it's a local festival tomorrow and a much needed haircut for me.

I hereby declare the not a bar at all, honest Bitchy corner open!

Honu · 01/06/2012 21:12

It's still June 1st you know, so I'm not too late, and there's almost three pages here and no bar! Did someone mention bramble wine? Where's it hidden please?

This month I am really going to pay attention to the non crap babysteps. Since I have been living in the temporary kitchen with draining board permanently cluttered with homeless stuff I must confess to a very non-shiny sink. As I type the disgusting sink-tidy is, I hope, soaking itself clean, and the dirty dishes are piled on the floor to take their turn. This extension had better be worth the stress!

Wrt chaotic animals the house is full of black lab hairs - marginally less bad than her predecessor,a black and white springer, who deposited white hairs on dark carpets and black hairs on the paler stuff. The dog has taken umbrage at the builders using their portable loo and stands outside it barking whenever they are inside.

OK, sink it is, then an early night ...

likelucklove · 01/06/2012 21:31

Eat 3x meals - 2 but definite improvement on yesterday!
Drink at least 7 lts water Didn't actually realize how much it was sc and failed abysmally. Belly bigger than mouth and all that

Hope you all had a good day! Very Envy of days off with jubilee parties

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 21:36

Oooh LLL my DH is on night duty tonight too.

Which may explain the bottle of Stella Cidre I have just consumed!

elliepac · 01/06/2012 21:39

Fear ye not honu, the bar is there, we are now simply undercoverGrin. If you see bitchy she is barred, do not let her inWink.

I like to start the way I mean to go so I have.........done fuck allGrin. Cleaner has been though so house is presentable. I am not very rich at all, quite the opposite at times, but £20 i spend on cleaning is the best spent money of the weekGrin.

Am going to get an early night as now I have finally landed on half term the sheer exhaustion has landed, might just have a quick drop of moonshine first thoughGrin.

ToffeeWhirl · 01/06/2012 21:41

We made it! We are in Seville! DS1 was so frightened about flying and hugged me tightly during take off, but by the end of the flight, he said it was actually quite fun. I can´t believe we are actually here.

Off to the coast tomorrow, where we wont have internet access, so I will be absent for a few days.

Have been up since 3am, so am desperate for sleep now and just waiting for the boys to settle down (they are sharing a bed and being very giggly and chatty).

Hope you all have a happy and productive week.

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 21:43

Oh Toffee I'm so pleased for you and your DS. Smile

Now go enjoy your holiday, and let others clean for you! Wink

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/06/2012 21:47

That's fantastic Toffee - who'd have thought it a few months ago
