Fledglings Fly in Flaming June; C.H.A.O.S. will be banished soon!

sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 08:27

Welcome to the June 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Park your mops, buckets and microfibre cloths here!!

A huge "thank you" to Toffee for leading us throughout May!! Hope you have a fabulous holiday in Spain!!

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here, here and here

All welcome!!

You are very welcome Choccochip Don't worry - we are permanently drunk don't know what we are on about half the time either Grin

Have a look through the links in my op and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Ignore the barftastic language on Flylady site - the underlying system is sound. It's basically a way of breaking down the groundhog misery of unending chores in to manageable, small, focused 'bites', leaving you with more time to do something more interesting instead. In the process, you will become familiar with basic steps and routines that should eventually become second nature and will build up to a system that suits you and your lifestyle. Don't worry if you don't understand it all at the beginning, it will become clear, step by step.

Spanking new kitchen sounds good!

Forgot to say "hi" to alibalibees further down thread too!

Nooooooooooooooooo. bitchy took away the bar, how very dare she. I'm leavingWinkSmile.

Ok, I'm notGrin. Massive thanks to toffee for last month. When do you go on holiday? And another thank you to sc for taking over.

I am making absolutely no promises whatsoever about flying or posting because I keep doing that and failing miserablyGrin.

Welcome to all lovely new people and big waves to all lovely old people.Smile

CarpeJugulum · 31/05/2012 20:59

S'alright, the still is cunningly disguised behind a large pot plant just in case Bitchy tells us off. Wink

I'm thinking about trying to make my own hooch whisky, but suspect it may not work. Bramble wine instead anyone?! Grin

sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 21:02

Waves back at Ellie

[Lowers voice. Oh go on Carpe Potcheen sounds good...]

Thanks sanguine, at 6 months pregnant I will be very jealous of all the drunkenness. Will stock up on Bavaria!

elliepac · 31/05/2012 21:07

Thank God for that carpe, for one awful moment I thought that everyone had clearly lost their mindsGrin.

All mouth no action that bitchy anywayWinkGrin.

sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 21:23

OK lovely fledglings, here we go again ...not sure as yet if I am going to be posting steps at night or early in the morning. But will start with step one right now:

Tomorrow's baby-step, number one, for 1st June 2012 is here (Scroll down a bit.) Shine your sink!

If you have never done this before, read here

Tomorrow we will be starting again in Zone One ie The Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room. See here

If you want to know more about zones in general, read here!

If your Zone 1 is already decluttered, you can progress to detailed cleaning here

You can find tomorrow's daily mission here (scroll down) (Getting rid of the cobwebs and junk mail by the front door, and putting away the magazines and school papers that are piled on the dining room table.)

Fridays are designated "declutter your car and handbag day" in Fat Fairy land. More info here

The habit for June is a good one - drinking water - more info here

If you are a newcomer, have a look around the Flylady site if you have any questions (or don't hesitate to ask here).

Hope that is not all too confusing!! Remember: you don't have to understand the whole system all at once at the start. Everything will become clear as you follow the baby-steps. The only thing you have to really remember for tomorrow is shining your sink, possibly doing 15 mins decluttering in the current zone and if you have already done that, the daily mission + errands.

Oh and btw, it is always good to remember that we are NOT aiming for perfection. We are just building up to doing the daily routines: small step by small step.

As usual, I've made it sound a lot more complicated than it really is!!

Here's to a productive June everyone!!

sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 21:28

Um, forgot to include kids challenge. Will gladly do so if you find it helpful. Just one problem, can't find it on Flylady site Confused

OP posts:
sanguinechompa · 31/05/2012 21:31

Oops. Please forget the bit about doing errands in my post with all the links (I copied it from March 2012 when 1st of month was a Thursday!!)

It should have read ...

"The only thing you have to really remember for tomorrow is shining your sink, possibly doing 15 mins decluttering in the current zone and if you have already done that, the daily mission + decluttering of handbag and car.

Oh dear, it's been a long day, where's my glass gone?

BitchyInTheCorner · 31/05/2012 21:38

Quick note to the newbies don't sign up to the fly lady emails under ANY circumstances you will drown in emails!

I have proper Grin and giggled at you all tonight. tsk tsk. Look you really want the bar, you stock it and sort it out. BUT I need to be good and avoid it. for a change

ellie behave girl, i know where you have your caravan and it's not that far from here

I promised ds a trip to doncaster tomo, i need to go to sheffield. I fear i may end up in meadowhell. Anyone know if it is half-term for the doncaster/sheffield schools yet?

PrinceWilliamaflip · 31/05/2012 21:54

Help - can I join?

Never mind CHAOS or STUFF I am seriously doing SUMOS sinking under mountain of shite Grin

Managed to fly for about 3 months 2 years ago and can honestly say it worked - then real life got in the way!

Cheers Smile

elliepac · 31/05/2012 22:02

I'm still not scared of you bitchy Grin .

You are hereby banned from the bar. Don't come pleading for entrance because your name ain't down and you're not coming inWink.

As for doncaster schools, as you know not too far from there myself and have friends who teach in doncaster and am pretty sure they are on holiday next week. In fact, I think you may be just about the only ones who are on half term this week. This should mean your visit to the Dome (which is I assume, where you are going) should be relatively quiet there. We go there swimming quite a bit. Tried to go skating but I lack basic co-ordination and made a right tit out of myselfGrin plus that bloody ramp nearly killed me every time!

elliepac · 31/05/2012 22:04

Welcome princewilliam, sounds like you'll fit right inGrin. I empathise with mountains of shite, I have mountain ranges of shite so feel your painGrin.

BitchyInTheCorner · 31/05/2012 22:12

yep, personally really don't like the ramps but promised to take ds. Much easier to skate with no ramps. But it is a short session (2hrs as apposed to 3hrs) and it is cheap and ds is insane on the ice. Personally i am looking forward to the sheffield part. if all goes to plan fb will know why tomo. Grin

I have to make an important decision for sunday: blue or red dress. Red dress is fancy, blue is very plain.

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 07:06

Bitchy no it's not half term in Donny yet - MIL is still swearing because she is teaching. They do finish today tho so may be a 1/2 day mind.

This may be useful!

Back later with proper post later!

Engelsmeisje · 01/06/2012 07:14

Okay, ready to whip my house into shape.

LinzerTorte · 01/06/2012 08:35

You put my upcoming 3.3k to shame, Engels. Blush

SC (and anyone else who's interested) You can find the Kid's Challenge on the Launch Pad.

Chocchip What's Bavaria? (Other than being a German province, obv. Grin)

Chocchip88 · 01/06/2012 09:01

Bavaria is non alcoholic beer. I can't find any decent non alcoholic wine so I kid myself with the beer!

Today looks like an easy one, I will shine my sink this evening once it's installed!
My main plan today is to be out of the house all day while the remaining work goes on. We will be popping home for lunch when I'll try to get 15 mins decluttering of the hall done.

Good luck everyone!

CarpeJugulum · 01/06/2012 09:02

Still no motivation, but going to do stuff anyway.

I need to:
Sort out swimming stuff for DS & I
Pop to supermarket after swimming this afternoon to buy local paper and pizza ONLY
S&S our en-suite
Clear dining room hotspots.

My zones are different to the FlyLady as I'm norty! But I'm going to try to deep clean the porch & hall and the understairs loo - dining room is not decluttered so only a token gesture in there today - but the hotspot coincides.

Also, if I get a chance, I'm going to try to dust our room.

WAH job is done at least!

Welcome to PrinceWilliam, and waves to everyone else.

Speakeasy is open for Brew and Biscuit or Wine for those in the Antipodes... hey,

laurenamium · 01/06/2012 09:22

Morning all!! I still have things to carry on from yesterday's list Blush

I measured myself today and since this time last month I have lost a whole 13 inches from various body parts Grin very happy with this!!

To do:
Clean windows
Clean doors
Tidy/ clean playroom
Visit friend and new baby
Transfer money
Clean kitchen floor
Hoover- later
Shine sink
Clean out car and handbag- take car to industrial Hoover Blush

(no dining room and entrance hall is clear- no room for it to become a hotspot)

swanthingafteranother · 01/06/2012 09:24

not much motivation here today,

however...I am out in the garden in my pjs enjoying that cool morning air .. and a fluffy lioncub kitten is stalking the beetles in the long grass.

need to go to work this morning and do some cataloguing in school
otherwise...

todo
plane tickets
bank
dcs rooms
BIG FOOD SHOP For next week - Dh asked me very very politely, so as he was so polite I might actually buy some food Blush
send birthday card
paperwork todo pile

in fact everything on yesterday's list!!!!Shock.

yesterday done
long walk
to B & Q twice for heavy duty stuff, gravel compost trellis etc first with Ds2 and dog (ds2 refused to go to school yest) second with Dd
dd to Guides and picked up
cooked supper
washed up
FINALISED FLOWERBED with some stripy acorus - they are mesmerising mops of grass - as always as garden evolves I start seeing what was wrong with the bog standard plants I put in just to brighten things up...red nicotiana needs a pot not a flowerbed I think!

SC Thanks for running this thread, and remember you don't have to do ROUNDUPS! We can survive, and it is hard work just to do the links and be so thoughtful and responsive to us all..

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/06/2012 09:25

No motivation here either
