Breakfast done, off to get dressed next.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 12/01/2012 07:00

Am dressed and have made my bed. Just having a break before I get the DC up and ready for the school run.

bessie26 · 12/01/2012 07:14

black are you going to do the llink today? (it's another one, so no hurry!). Apologies if you already know this:

I'll be back later once I've taken DD1 to pre-school

cairnterrier · 12/01/2012 07:45

Morning!

Gentle nudge to Blackcat and passes a Brew

Right, To do list:
crisis clean (thanks for the link Bessie) - concentrate on bathrooms and hoovering stairs.
sort out washing load of things that can be tumble dried
food out for birds
make all beds
mop floor after DS goes to bed
wash DS's booster chair (currently decorated with Cheerios)
count how many lightbulbs we need to replace - we've got those silly little lights that are recessed and in the past 6 months 10 of them have gone! Does anyone else find that they really don't last for very long or do we need to get the electrics checked?

Hmm will concentrate on that lot to start with and go from there. Hope it's as nice a day today as yesterday, it felt positively spring like in the sunshine at lunchtime :)

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 12/01/2012 07:53

I will give it a try Bessie

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 12/01/2012 07:55

Thanks for the Brew cairnterrier

Morning!

TS seems to have woken up (just in the last few minutes) in a VERY good mood. He had no nap yesterday (which makes the witching hour worse) and we spent nearly three hours at the park/playground/feeding the ducks (so LOTS of fresh air). MrScout put him to bed 1/2 hour early (because he needed it) so TS has had a good long sleep. YAY! He's so much more pliable when he's slept well.

I have yesterday to make up for and tomorrow to get ahead of -- we're going away for the weekend (YAY!) and I have a hospital appointment which means the whole morning is unavailable. Ah, well.

Will post lists later when I get my head around them!

Happy Thursday!

Eggrules · 12/01/2012 08:30

Morning all.

Kitchen still tidy and living room presentable - will dust and hoover later.

White wash on - I hope I can put it out later.
Dressed and ready to do school run.

Going to sort under stairs out. I need to do something with DS's shoes and make a place for his school bags to go.
Will also do 30 mins de cluttering in kitchen
Off for my four mile walk - will look like this Blush

Feel better Black Thanks

carrotsandcelery · 12/01/2012 08:50

BlackCat you know I know how you feel. I was totally blue over Christmas and I am beginning to feel a bit more myself again now. I have to say this thread helps as the daytime at home is not so lonely.

Anyway, (((hugs))) while it is here, remember your list of feel good foods (it helped me) a little light exercise will probably help (hoovering? bathroom cleaning?) and as was said upthread, be kind to yourself. It will pass but we are all here and will gently nudge you along until it does.

bessie26 · 12/01/2012 10:19

Congratulations on your successful link black Grin have a Brew and your chocolates back!

Hope everyone is feeling good today? I had another good night's sleep last night, but am still feeling tired - am determined not to eat any chocolate today (might drink some though!)

I am washed & dressed to slippers (no indoor shoes to be worn in this house) - I never wore slippers until last xmas when DD1 bought me a pair & I realised how nice they are to have around the house! Unfortunately, the wore out quite quickly, so I bought myself a nice pair which are more sturdy - I have twice tried to leave the house in them by mistake! Blush

Today I need to

  • drink tea
  • clear up breakfast mess
  • make lunch
  • get out for a walk with DD2
  • make tea
  • eat tea early as DD2 & I need to pick DD1 up from pre-school at 5
  • decide what exactly I'm going to do about going back to work
  • 2min hotspot - post pile
  • 15min declutter - dining room (still have piles of xmas stuff on the table)
cairnterrier · 12/01/2012 10:44

liveinazoo will we need to send out a search party if you've not logged in again by this evening?! Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time of it lately, hope things get a bit better soon.

Well, mid-morning break and I've cleaned our bathroom (had to do a quick run to the shops to get limescale remover) and Lime Lite (my new favourite cleaner) is now working on the kitchen sink whilst I have a Brew.

Want to get the main bathroom done other than the floor and bath and hoover stairs and downstairs hall this morning.

How's everyone else getting on?

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 12/01/2012 11:22

liveinazoo Have found my list of
"Foods to boost your mood"

Marmite - has B vitamins (They are also good for energy)

Oily fish - Omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish

Chocolate - believed to boost serotonin levels

Strawberries - vitamin C

Bananas - good source of potassium

nuts: Brazil nuts and walnuts (not sure what the nuts do)

I just copied this off the internet one day as I thought it would be useful.Smile

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 12/01/2012 11:28

Need to do a bit more organizing/decluttering on my welsh dresser then I had better have a go at some washing up.

liveinazoo · 12/01/2012 11:31

bessie26 · 12/01/2012 11:38

mmmm... that list sounds good, except I think I'll get my Omega-3 from more nuts & seeds instead Grin

I think it's the Selenium in nuts that's supposed to be good for you?

carrots has your DS ever tried munchy seeds they are very very yummy & they make little sachets he could take to school?

  • drink tea
  • clear up breakfast mess
  • make lunch (now keeping warm in the slow cooker)
  • get out for a walk with DD2
  • make tea
  • eat tea early as DD2 & I need to pick DD1 up from pre-school at 5
  • decide what exactly I'm going to do about going back to work
  • 2min hotspot - post pile
  • 15min declutter - dining room (still have piles of xmas stuff on the table)
redlac · 12/01/2012 11:58

Tell you what black I'll give you kicks up the bum and Brew if you do the same to me? Tea with milk at regular intervals :)

Got up with DH this morning so managed to get

Dressed to shoes
My breakfast & dishes
Packed lunch made
Brew
cleaned out fridge
got DD up
dd breakfast & dishes
swipe & swish
Brew
hoover livingroom
organise gymnastics stuff for dd

all before 8.15 this morning!

Any ideas how to get Omega 3 if you don't like fish & nuts? Is it worth buying tablets?

Have a good day everyone

bessie26 · 12/01/2012 12:15

dietary sources of Omega-3

redlac · 12/01/2012 12:27

thanks bessie think I'll steer clear of eating canned pork brain though :)

carrotsandcelery · 12/01/2012 12:34

Hello everyone. I am having a bit of a traumatic morning. We discovered a little visitor in dd's hair this morning. Bleurgh! They are apparently visiting the school just now Shock

We have been to the chemist and covered her hair in the solution and I have spent ages combing it through and trying not to show my disgust at what was combed out. Bleurgh, bleurgh!

This is the first time I have ever had to deal with this sort of problem so if anyone has any tips they would be gratefully received.

Does it count as decluttering her hair? If so I have done my 15mins, hot spots x2 and head room rescue.

She has been in the shower and scrubbed her hair with tea tree oil shampoo and used tea tree oil conditioner.

I was going to send her back to school but she seemed a bit stressed by the whole thing so she is working on a homework project at home instead.

She is being bullied as it is and I didn't want to draw attention to her by sending her in half way through the day, especially when there has been a letter about head lice sent out etc.

Tonight's entertainment will be doing ds (which will be a nightmare considering his mental health isssue) and then dh. Dh will have to do me. My skin is crawling.

Anyway, that has taken up most of my morning but I have also cleaned the bath and wash hand basin and taken off the plugs and scrubbed them etc.

I have also got a wash on and have done a tiny bit of ironing.

Hopefully dd is engrossed enough in her homework for me to get on for a bit.

OP posts:
redlac · 12/01/2012 12:45

oh no! Makes me feel all itchy thinking about it. I read on hear that if you can leave the tea tree conditioner on for ages and use loads and they just slide off

Not had the pleasure of the wee blighters yet however my DSis and family live in Manila and the kids go to an international school there and DNephew and all the boys in his class had to shave their heads cos they just couldn't get rid of the nits.

Is your DD's hair long enough to be in a ponytail? I keep DD's hair up all the time at school and I can't remember having nits when I was at school and I'm sure its because mum always put my hair in pony or pig tails.

Remember wash all the bedding too

Hope she is okay ((((wee carrots)))

bessie26 · 12/01/2012 12:51

redlac that list was fairly gross wasn't it?!!

my sympathies carrots, afraid I can't help as I haven't had to deal with it yet, but I did read somewhere that you could cover their hair in conditioner & comb the blighters out - dunno what the solution is like this days, but i remember it being fairly horendous when I was a child.

I've just checked the packed I bought when DD1 started nursery (2.5yrs ago!) & have discovered it's now out of date, so will have to goto the chemist to get some more.

Scout19075 · 12/01/2012 13:07

Oh, carrots, blurgh for you. I haven't had to deal with them yet, either, but had them once when I was in high school. I had super long hair, too. Blurgh. But yes, make sure to wash the sheets AND any cuddly toys your DD sleeps with at night.

Decided to take TS to a soft play near us this morning (he's going to have to be fairly confined tomorrow so thought I'd treat him today). He had a lovely time though I was silently (and not-so-silenty at times) seathing at two mean little girls and their very ineffective mother. Grumble, grumble.

Before we left though I did a load of dishes, the fling thing in the kitchen, started the fling thing in the living room, set a pan to soak and bagged up laundry to take the launderette tonight (so we have clean jeans and sweatshirts/fleeces for our trip).

While TS is napping I will finish my lunch, sort out the stuff in the car (have the rest of the stuff from the Seniors meeting to bring in), scrub the soaking/soaked pan, take out the recycling (have very full box from all of my flinging) and do the living room declutter/fling. Oh, and have a chocolate coin or two (with peanut butter -- yum!).
