Morning!
Just saying hello while I have a coffee at work - off to read the thread

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 11/01/2012 11:26

Thanks for your previous post Carrots. I think I will do that and ask one of the teacher if they can keep an eye on him.
I don't know any of the parents yet as DS was new to the school in September.

I think they do let the older children make their own way to school.

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 11:51

I didn't know it was a new school for him. That does make it a trickier thing. I would be surprised if a member of staff wasn't around though. It would be different if it was 8.15 but by that time of day a lot of dcs will have been dropped off.

Yes, I think he saw some of his new friends this morning so he would probably be o.k.
I seem to be following you from one thread to another Carrots, I have just posted in food again Grin Grin.

I better turn MNet off soon so I can do something. Blush

Eggrules · 11/01/2012 12:07

FOUND YA - love the new thread title.

Babystep 11 You can?t organize clutter; you can only get rid of it. It is (now) known. I'm not keen on the more inspirational aspects but this is a good quote to remember.

Ta Da List:
Washed and dressed - now in socks
School run - DS having school dinners today
Hoovered living room
Washed and hung out darks
Walked 4 miles -I am trying to be smaller and fit into my clothes.

To do:
Make dinner
Deep clean bathroom - I'm even going to empty the water out of the toilet and scrub like a mad woman.

Blackcat - I agree with Carrots. I would take your younger child and stay with her. My DS started Reception in Sept; I am more than happy to watch other people's LOs if arranged in advance. You could always ask that they do this for a few days just in case.

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 12:36

Radio Scotland - Detox your house I was listening and my dmum phoned so I missed it. Might be worth a listen - I don't know myself yet.

Ta Dah's:

washed and dressed
dcs to school with necessary food
dw unloaded and reloaded
worktops cleaned
washing folded - ironing waiting on board
new load hung out
another load in machine - had to wash my sheets to make it up to a load Grin
tonight's meal is cooking
worktops cleaned again

Still to do:

2 x hotspots
room rescue
15 min declutter
ironing
hoovering
swish main bathroom

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 12:36

Have also spent half an hour on phone changing my electricity supplier.

OP posts:
redlac · 11/01/2012 12:40

Checking in on my lunch hour

Done:
washed & dressed
swish & swipe
Breakfast dishes done
worktops wiped down
Load in the machine on a timer to finish roughly when I get home
DDs swimming stuff organised for tonight
stuff out the freezer for dinner

to do:
15 minutes in kitchen - cupboard doors tonight
ironing
hang up washing

I ended up not clearing out the kitchen junk drawer last night but did go through the medicine box and got rid of all the out of date potions!

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 12:49

If you are looking at the radio link the relevant part is at 1 hour 22 mins and about 45 seconds. I am just off to listen while I iron.

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 12:58

After all that the article isn't that helpful - Gah!

bessie26 · 11/01/2012 13:27

Black you said you have to get DD to nursery by 8.45am - how early could she be there? & how long are they/you expecting you to stay? When DD1 started nursery (different, I know as she was 1yr old) & was happy at the 'settling in' sessions, I only stayed a few minutes and then did the drop off as quickly as possible (the staff told me it that the longer you took about leaving, the more upset the DC got)

Or could you ask nursery if it's ok for her to be a few mins late, get DS in school for 8:45 & get DD to the nursery straight after?

DD2 & I have been for a swimming lesson, then I went to get a blood test done (her lesson is in the physio pool at the hospital, so I went to Pathology) - after waiting for 30mins & working out that we would be there for at least another hour I gave up & came home. Will have to try again after she wakes from her nap

Just having a lot choc & contemplating mopping the floor. I really just want to go back to bed!

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 13:48

I am still ironing and occasionally stirring the tea (the controversial stovies) and listening to Jeremy Vine. I am incredibly bored. I think I will stop ironing and hotspot or declutter of similar as it is more satisfying.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 11/01/2012 13:59

floor mopped with the help of chocolate.

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 14:09

I really fancy some chocolate. I have a long early evening today and I feel I am flagging. I am trying not to have too much choc though now that Christmas is over. It becomes a habit much more easily that decluttering seems to Hmm Grin

I have packed the snacks for this afternoon, done 2 hot spots and now I am trying to do something on my new phone.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 14:12

bessie is that where you always have your blood tests done? Did you have an appointment or do you just get to queue and wait your turn if you want a test?

OP posts:
bessie26 · 11/01/2012 14:15

what's so controversial about your stovies carrots ?? I can't listen to jeremy vine, he winds me up too much!

I'm listening to my new CD & am going to attempt to declutter (or at least tidy) the toy mountain for 15mins

bessie26 · 11/01/2012 14:19

carrots yes, I usually goto the hospital to get them done as I live closer to the hosp than my doctors(!) and i can just rock up whenever it's convienient, whereas getting an appointment at the surgery at a time that fits in with the DDs is difficult. The most I've ever had to wait before is 20min, so I've no idea why it was so busy. Perhaps they've got rid of some staff? Sad

I'm trying to cut back on chocolate as well, but feel very tired today - I don't think swimming in a lovely warm hydro-therapy pool helped!

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 14:28

That sounds really handy bessie - we get appointments whenever we want here as it is such a small village but I still have to make an appointment, wait, go there, wait etc. If I could just get up and go I would be quicker at getting round to it.

The stovies were controversial as when I was really blue over Christmas time I got flamed, partly for making veggie stovies, partly for not really wanting my family to come to my house and eat meat that my dmum had made at hers. I was being unreasonable I think but mum was a bit too. I should know better than posting on AIBU and spent most of the afternoon crying Blush

Anyway, the stovies are made and the beetroot is out ready. I have just remembered where the oatcakes are too so that is ready to go. yay!

I have room rescued the kitchen table now as well.

I still have a 15 min declutter to do. Struggling to face that one just now. I will have lunch and see.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 11/01/2012 14:35

you've not had lunch yet?! Shock

I remember you mentioning the AIBU thing, but didn't know what it was about. I have only posted on AIBU once but that was about something fairly light hearted!

right, 15mins now!

carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2012 14:43

I was brought up not to drink water from the hot tap too bessie and only to drink water from the kitchen tap, even though we brushed our teeth with water from the bathroom tap. Grin

I was just really really sad when I posted and shouldn't have done it. Lesson learned until the next time Grin

I have only just had lunch because I had such a late breakfast because we had no milk. It will work quite well though as we aren't in until about 7 tonight and I am usually either starving or end up eating something I shouldn't while I am out.

I have done my 15 min declutter as I found a bag of hastily hidden stuff from the kitchen table from before Christmas Blush 99% of it was pictures by ds again and 99% of it went straight to recycling. I am beginning to see the benefits of this again. The house is gradually reemerging from Christmas.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 11/01/2012 15:31

15mins is great isn't it? I tidied the toys & moved some jigsaw puzzles into the cupboard in the dining room. Having looked through them all, I can't see any that wouldn't be played with, so I think I'm going to have to just get better at rotating them (not sure where exactly I am going to store the toys not in use?!)

baby fed, so we're going to try & get my blood tested again - this time, we're taking plenty of toys & snacks! Grin

bessie26 · 11/01/2012 16:12

Oh dear, I've got 50 people ahead of me in the queue Luckily, I'll be back at work the next time I need a test doing so will get one for the days the DDs are at nursery!

Oh... I have to go back to work in 3 months?

liveinazoo · 11/01/2012 16:56

tonight the kids have the playmobil horese stable out(now ive tidied their toys its easy to find and rotate amusementsSmile
i cleaned the oven this p.mShock!!!!!i dont like caustic soda(my dad had an accident once and it wasnt pretty)so attacked it with vim and bit elbow grease.got it looking reasonable.will go at it again before the weeks out(as we in kitchen zone) and go for gleaming!
i am now going to make tea for the kids(oven baked pea and pepper frittatta, potato wedges and broccoli.followed by yogurt)
dp is popping round for a couple of hours tonight so i will eat with him when the kids are in bed(chickpea casserole)
i am seeing some benefits now..only downside is makes the cluttery bits more obvious
was nice after i picked up the kids to be able to see a respectable front of the house, rather than sigh and scuttle in as quick as poss!
my dr has a phlebologist from hospital visit on thursdays to do bloods(nurse can do them in an emergency though) can usually get in within a week.shes very nice and ive never had a bruise from her
