That sounds a bit of a marathon BlackCat. They hadn't been sipping your coffee had they? Wink I hope you get a bit of relaxation now.

Breakfast cereals usually have a portion of your daily iron requirement too - it depends if you eat them though.

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 22:16

Oh yes, forgot about the cereals too. Smile

I hope the DC settle earlier tomorrow.

Dlamis · 21/01/2012 22:33

I've just been to another forum I use and the thread at the top of of the new posts list was about tumble driers catching fire eek here

liveinazoo · 22/01/2012 07:28

bessie26 · 22/01/2012 07:46

Babystep 22 - build your Control Journal.

zoo I'll try to find a good link for you, but as long as she is eating a varied diet she should be fine. blacks list of iron rich foods is good, Vit C aids absorption.

Toddler's been up since 6-ish. Ugh. Not so bad at home but hard to deal with when staying elsewhere (trying to make sure he doesn't squeal (at the cats) or stomp or anything when other people are sleeping). Blurgh.

Have managed to tick off one or two more things from this weekend's to do list. But all of the banking/post office ones got put on hold -- forgot the town center branch of my bank doesn't open on Saturdays here. Grumble, grumble. I needed to move money around so I could post packages. I might not have time to do it tomorrow so it looks like Tuesday. Grumble, grumble.

Did, however, order some new sheets this morning using vouchers I received for Christmas. Lovely. (You know I'm a grown-up when I'm excited about new sheets.)

Have done some research on the new drug the doctor wants to add to my treatment cocktail. The first therapy was bad enough -- this addition just adds more joy and excitement to the mixture (Hahahahah). I would like to be mostly decluttered by the time I start this, probably May or June. Do you think it's possible? Can people get out their pointy pokey sticks to keep me going?

cairnterrier · 22/01/2012 08:04

Morning everyone

BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/01/2012 09:26

Oh dear, sounds like lots of people had a rough night. Sad.
We were woken up at around 5.00am by DD so DH put her in our bed and we then slept till 7.00am so not too bad.

I have a bad back again this morning so can't see a lot of physical activity getting done.Sad

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 09:55

Morning everyone. Ds woke me up this morning playing a loud game on the laptop. I did get back to sleep but had the sort of sleep where you have weird dreams. When I woke up the pillows were everywhere and the duvet was in a ball. I clearly have had my 15 mins of loving movement in my sleep Wink

So far today I have hung a load of washing. I am just off to make a Brew

Scout you will definitely be more decluttered by May/June even if you just do a little bit most days.

zoo I hope they sort out your cash. It is not on when these things are messed about.

I am hoping to get a few more things listed on ebay today while it is free and to do another wash. It is a bit frustrating that school uniforms require a white, dark and coloured wash to be full to process them. I need to think about this in my washing routine as I have put on incomplete loads which I was advised not to by my washing machine repair man. Hmm

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/01/2012 11:37

carrots I find the white load of washing the hardest to have enough of. I just about manage that as a once a week but we might get DD some nursery uniform as we have a choice about her wearing uniform. That would add a little more to it. The only other way is if I decide to change the beds and wash sheets and pillow cases.

Scout19075 · 22/01/2012 14:22

Does anyone need a mid-afternoon chocolate to keep them going?

My washer is ditty -- it doesn't take much to fill it. If I wash my top and fitted sheets together I need to dry them separately or they just won't dry. It's very frustrating.

zoo Has your bank sorted themselves out?

BlackCat How's your back?

Do you think running after a toddler counts as loving movement? Wink I know when I take him to soft play or Beans on Mondays I get plenty of exercise!

My boys are building a lego plane together -- it's so sweet to watch.

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 14:24

That is what has been happening here BlackCat - our sheets have never been so fresh Grin

I have been decluttering and listing on ebay as I go along. Hopefully we can make this whole declutter business make us some cash as well.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 22/01/2012 14:29

I struggle to make a white/light wash too. I tend to do it on Fridays, as then I have DHs work shirts to make it a half reasonable load. carrots why did your repair man say you shouldn't run a small load?

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 14:35

bessie Envy Although all mothers of very small children should visit a spa/beauty parlour Grin You have definitely earned it bessie.

He said the sort of machine I have (John Lewis own brand) works best if you are practically having to shove the door closed with your foot. I didn't really believe him but having experimented he is right.

It also needs less than half the powder that the powder boxes would have you use and not gels, capsules or tablets.

It is weird but certainly true. I don't know if it is the same for all machines though.

I think I will save whites for Fridays when I get their uniforms and coloureds for Wednesdays as ds swims on a Tuesday. Their school sweatshirts can be rotated from there as they have enough to see them through (I think).

I feel a washing routine finally coming together.

Hi all, just having a Brew before I start on dinner. Today I am hoping to attempt Baked creamy leeks and thought we could have them with some nice ham and carrots and maybe potatoes.

My back seems a bit better since I had a shower but I am still trying to not lift DD or anything else heavy.

What are the rest of you up too?

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 15:58

I have listed even more on ebay and watched the play the dcs have been concocting all afternoon. Very cute!

Dd has asked for toad in the hole again tonight. She wants it every Sunday. Ds loves it though so I will go with the flow. I hope the creamy leeks turn out well BlackCat. Let me know as I have that recipe too.

We are going to need a big tidy up before bed tonight. The kitchen table is a mess and so is the lounge now. I have the hospital again tomorrow so won't have time to pick up tomorrow. I don't want to nag for now though as it will just be a mess again by bedtime.

Evening all.

bessie your spa visit sounds wonderful!

have managed to get hoovering done today and 2 loads of washing but that's it. Have got a horrible feeling that morning sickness may be coming back and am severely not impressed.

blackcat your felafel burgers are having a quiet think to themselves in the fridge before frying! Am trying out the oven baked rice pudding from this month's Good Food magazine, smells nice so will let you know how it turns out. I made the lemon paella type thing last night from the same edition and that was delicious and easy to do if anyone else fancies a shot. It does have chorizo and prawns in though so not immediately vegetarian friendly but presumably you could either miss them out or substitute with something else.

carrotsandcelery sounds as though you're doing brilliantly with the decluttering, Hope you make lots on ebay and manage to get yourself a little treat to say well done for doing it all in the first place.

Scout I generally find chocolate to be acceptable at any time of the day, I don't restrict myself to mid-afternoon only!

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 17:35

chocolate? I missed a post and it mentioned chocolate! Shock

I agree that chocolate is always acceptable!

Thanks for the positive ebay vibes cairnterrier. It certainly motivates the decluttering.

I hadn't realised you were expecting. Congratulations! When are you due?

I am making tea just now. Dd and I are just waiting for the sos mix to finish soaking so we can make the sausages for the toad in the hole.

I have also realised that I haven't hung the second load of washing yet.

Scout19075 · 22/01/2012 17:48

carrots I always have chocolates available.

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 18:05

Yummy! Thanks Scout Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/01/2012 18:38

carrots The baked creamy leeks were quite nice although DH thought it needed a bit more flavour..Hmm The DC were reluctant to try it.
I'm hoping one day they will try something home cooked!

cairnterrier · 22/01/2012 18:52

Blackcat the felafel burgers were delicious! Still 2 left over so DH is going to take them for lunch tomorrow.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/01/2012 19:08

cairn I think you have me mixed up with someone else. Grin
I have never made felafel burgers but glad you liked them Wink

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 19:25

Tee hee! I think the falafel recipe is bessie's which I tried out this week. We discovered they were great in a sandwich with mayonaise, shredded iceberg lettuce and cucumber. Yum!

Toad in the hole was lovely. Would your dc eat something like that BlackCat? Ds will even scoff that without a whinge first.

Ds did ask me this week, "When are you going to cook some normal food, like normal people eat?" Shock When I asked what normal food was he wasn't sure Grin but he didn't like the look of whatever I had served up Blush

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 19:27

What did you have with the leeks BlackCat? Was it the "nice" ham that you mentioned? Grin I suppose as a side dish you wouldn't want it to have an overwhelming flavour.
