I have been painting with dd and now have flapjacks in the oven. Yummy! My next task is to hunt around for items for the free listing on ebay this weekend - great excuse for a bit more decluttering.

You are probably right about putting the shopping away bessie - it probably goes straight in the pot or a child. Shock

Doing the Fling Thing, no matter what you're doing it, is so very satisfying! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 17:04

I really fancy doing a fling Scout. I think it is the bedroom next week and I think I could do a fair bit of the fling thing in there Grin

Dd and I have made an awesome Shepherd's Pie using the yummy mince from this and a mountain of mashed potato. We are having it with baked beans so it sounds like the perfect wet and windy winter Saturday night tea. It is great fun cooking with a dc her age (10 nearly 11) as they know what to do now and properly help.

I am quite chuffed as dh is impressed by the paintings dd and I have done. There are a few minor artists in our family and I think dd has got some of their genes Grin

He is also stuffing his face with the flapjack's so they clearly meet with his approval.

Oops! didn't put an alternative to stuffing Blush There is just no other word for it really Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 19:19

Hi all. Zoo you have my sympathies about the lack of sleep. I am just having a large coffee to try and keep myself going till bed time.

liveinazoo · 21/01/2012 19:48

got much done today black
ive got ds wheezy cough and temp and dd2 moaning ears hurt Sad
we watching the borrowers at mo.think could be a long night!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 19:59

Zoo Sad Hope you all start to feel better soon.

Today I have managed:
(Babysteps)
Get dressed
made beds
family time
DH helped clear the kitchen (washing up)
small amount of decluttering.
1 x washing and hang it on airer.

liveinazoo · 21/01/2012 20:05

not bad blackcat
wheres everyone else tonight?its unusually quiet!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 20:10

The weekends are sometimes quieter on here.

I might have to go for a little while now as it's bed time for the DC.

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 20:10

Oh dear zoo. Was it dd2 who had sore ears earlier in the week? Maybe, as bessie suggested, the GP missed something. Is ds prone to wheezy coughs? I hope they all settle soon and you get a little while to relax before bed yourself.

Dh has been doing the declutter today. He has cleared loads out from his bedside table. I think he can see progress has been made but that there are areas I can't tackle. Yay!

FWIW zoo I couldn't bare the texture of meat as a child and until I gave it up for good when I was a teenager. Dd3 may not be the same though as all dcs dislike foods and then come round to them.

wgere can i ge tgood advice for vegeatarian nutrition?i tried the vegetarian society and they only have downloads and i dont have a printer!
as i have a history of aneamia and i worry about kids getting all the nutrients they need i would like to be able fed us properly.will continue to cook meat once a week for a while and see what happens.dd3 hasnt eaten any meat, except ham for nearly a month and just eating the veg part of a meat eaters dinner wont give her everything she needs tpo grow and be healthy

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 20:26

bessie is the expert on that front zoo. Her blog has lots of ideas for nutrition for young ones.

My hv advised a fortified cereal, lots of pulses, a mix of veg and some dairy products. Then your usual carbs. Does she eat fish happily? If not I would think about omega 3 as well - bessie said earlier in the week that flax oil was good for it. Ds takes a non veggie supplement as he needs way over the normal dose of it for mental health problems.

From the meals you have mentioned it sounds like you are providing a pretty varied and balanced diet as it is.

I've done my menu planning and grocery list while watching Spooks.

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 21:56

Dh has been watching Sherlock for the second time and now he is watching a horribly violent Samurai dvd with subtitles. Yikes!

Menu planning is a great idea Scout as long as I can do it from the sofa Grin

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 21/01/2012 22:03

I do menu planning from wherever I am -- sofa, car, cafe, kitchen, bed, etc.

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 22:08

I have got 5 out of 7 meals sorted out more or less. That is a start. Smile
